I got a 2.7 liter 2021. My opinion is its the best option since it has all the facelift features as well as a bullet proof engine thats been used since 05. No gear hunting. Its black, 4 door, and my daily. It was my dads when he bought it brand new in December 2020 and he passed away 1 year later. I think about him every time I start it up and I know he is in Gods house, a much better place than earth. Happy Holy Week my friend!
My father purchased the original Toyota pickup truck back in 1976 at Bob Jones Toyota in Anaheim California when I was growing up, I still remember that pickup very well, This was long before they called them Tacoma
Awesome video as always my friend. I've been a huge fan of Toyota trucks since that legendary Black Toyota pickup featured in Back to the Future. Hilarious cut scenes as well lol love it!
In my opinion the 2nd gen Tacoma is the perfect middle-ground between the old-school classic trucks of the 90s while still giving some creature comforts like a backup camera & screen. I have a 2015 and love that it still drives like a solid body-on-frame vehicle. While the 3rd generation Tacomas are great, don’t get me wrong, I prefer the more simpler mechanical components and smaller footprints of the 1st/2nd gens. Regardless, they are good vehicles.
Yeah, that’s fair. My truck was pre-owned, was barely even driven before I got it. I’ve looked around the frame and it seems fine. But it is a good idea to keep up with rust-protection. Thankfully the 2015 was at the tail-end of the 2nd gen so by then Toyota was making sure that they were at least better protected then the earlier 2nd gens. If I had like a 2005-2009 I would be a little more concerned.
@@Turtlemilk which generation do you think are ugly? I think the 3rd gen look ok-ish, but everyone’s got an opinion. Definitely an acquired taste with some years.
Awesome video and that you are a Christian. Keep the videos coming. I own a 2007 Toyota Tundra Crew Max with the 5.7 V8. I also owned a 2003 Toyota Tacoma with the Off Road package with the 3.4 V6. I had to sell this truck to get the Tundra because I have a 32 ft travel trailer. I really miss my Tacoma.
On my 3rd toyota Truck...learned to drive on the Hi lux...Also known as the RN22 ...Drove it till 300K and then it went to someone...then in 98 i got a 96 with 30k ...sold it in 2008 after 240k added miles...completely still running well...now this year i have a 2013 TRD Sport...love it...will keep it forever...great video
Bought a 2023 Tacoma leftover in Feb of this year. Has The 2.7 4 banger which runs strong and gets great gas mileage. Cool video and keep the faith my brother!😎👍
Amen brother! My 2023 Sport has not had any issues with gear hunting. Of course I’m only a thousand miles in so I’ll humbly accept your prayers and/or good wishes with that!
I got a 2004 Tacoma and I love it, yes it’s old but to me it’s the best looking of the gens. I like the strong metal bumpers compared to the fragile plastic newer gens. My only downside it’s not a 4WD but since I moved to Vegas from Hawaii I won’t be doing any serious off roading anymore anyway so it doesn’t really matter other than that I love my truck. 🛻 🙌
@@chadwells7562 there’s is plenty off-roading to do here in Vegas but unlike Hawaii where I needed 4WD to get to certain camping spots, surf spots, or beaches. I can get by with 2wd for now, especially with doing donuts and light trails. Me and my family moved for different experiences and opportunities. I can take my family across the country without flying which you can’t experience in Hawaii. There’s also a lot more the mainland provides.
Isaac, great video. the funniest one by far that I have seen. That was a great history lesson on the Toyota truck line up. You should do more of them. Matt 18:4 Stay Strong and Encouraged.
In 78 my grandpa bought a Hilux pickup and a Corolla. Both were White with Tan vinyl flooring and seats. In 80, my dad bought a Hilux 4WD Long Bed. In 84 I bought an extra cab 4WD (that one had a bad transmission but was covered under warranty. I also had an 88 2WD and after well over 300K miles it was time to replace it. So I bought a Ford Ranger. I had a total of 4 Ranger’s over a 30 year period. Last month (February 29th: Leap Year) I bought a slightly used (6K mile) 23 TRD Off Road, Premium pkg and a 6’ bed. I only drive 5-6K miles per year so at my age, my Tacoma will be the Last pickup I’ll ever need to own.
@@AlphaShark It’s White, but after I have the TRD Red Leather with black trim and stitching seats installed by Katzkin, then I’m having the lower exterior body panels repainted with Barcelona Red metallic. I have some of the knobs and trim pieces overlayed with TRD Red. I think my 23 TRD will look great when I’m done with it. The first week that I bought it I installed a K&N cold air intake and a FlowMaster Flow FX dual exhaust. Next year I’ll have the Overland Tailor Tune installed. Lastly I’m thinking about Centerline wheels I had a FlowMaster single exhaust system installed on my last pickup. The Flow FX dual exhaust has a deep throaty sound and sounds nicely on both the 3.5L V6 and the 2.7L 4cyl. I had a Borla dual exhaust on my 2010 Tundra, but the Flowmaster sounds better on the V6. That’s my opinion anyway.
Great video. I have owned Tacoma’s in the past and had same issue with auto transmission. However i loved that truck. My favorite was a 2020 TRD sport. Wish is did not sell that one.
Yes, the 2023 still has the ever searching for a gear transmission. Two people at myToyota dealership, a service writer and salesman, told me to get an OTT tune on it to fix it. I don't think you should have to spend $450 to get a new truck to drive like a vehicle should.
Please will you pray for my uncle. He has cancer. Also I have a 2007 toyota tacoma access cab trd sport 4x4 4.0L V6 automatic. It's been a great truck.
The 2023,14,&15 gen 2’s are the best Tacomas to buy. Best headlights. Best motor. Best transmission. Best interior noise of Gen 2. Gen 3 motor and transmission are garbage.
I have a 2022 and they have absolutely NOT fixed the gear hunting. Its maddening on cruise control how it bumps between gears at a constant speed and inclination
I guess the three as a joke because I thought that it would have gone like at least a hundred but no I was actually lower by one so technically he was wrong it was higher than I thought
1996 was the first "Tacoma" not 1995. I own both. The 1996 has a different more rounded front end and a 3.4L engine with Tacoma badges. The 1995 had a more square front end which looked better but was equipped with the ever slow 3.0L engine with no badges. I don't understand why they consider the 95 the first Tacoma. It's not.
