This is great. I followed all your steps and they sound so good and realistic. I used this technique on the 'Liverpool' kit - sounds so much fuller! Just one question: how can I use this new improve kit in other projects with these settings?

Great tips, Colin. Can't help but wonder how long it took you to learn to do all this?! Many months ago, I used your ' Brooklyn' kit tweaks (on GB, with overhead/rooms settings, and so on) very helpful. Thank you.

Greetings from New Zealand Colin. Really loving these insightful & easy to follow tutorials which are right on point for the indie rock genre. I'm mixing along with a 170bps track I'm working on & found these drum tutorials really helpful, although dialing some levels back in the context of my mix. I've used other youtuber tutorials in the past & ended with my tracks generally over-processed I think, but still an old guy learning new tricks. Watched your Garageband master session. Will you do your Logic version at some point? Cheers mate.

Great video...could hear the differences in my computer speakers. Great for this genre.
How would you approach the drums for say a Gordon Lightfoot song. (using the auto drummer)

Great techniques Colin. I've found myself using parallel compression quite a lot lately, made an amazing difference to one particular vocal track that is rather muddy before any processing but now sounds great at least to me and sits beautifully in the mix.

    Colin,
This series is great! Really helpful. I've been struggling with how to use drummer to "invent" beats and customize the drum part so it's not as homogeneous as the stock parts tend to be. I know that by changing the tracks to MIDI they are editable. But I'm trying to find an intuitive way to interact with drummer with a mix of MIDI generated "free hand" hits and the stock drummers. Also wondering if using live loops or the step sequencer would be useful, but having a hard time getting started with it. Thanks again for all your stuff!

Hey Antonio! Have you seen this video I did on customizing drum parts with GarageBand drummer? It all carries over if you’re using Logic!

That’s a great point, Scott! Very accessible price point for BIG feature jumps. I haven’t seen the iPad app yet, but they promise it will be able to pass back and forth with the macOS version, so I bet it will be pretty identical
