You're always worth a watch Austin. Thanks for keeping the content quality high. Congrats on getting the opportunity to mix the garstka sessions. Cheers.
Thank you sir 🙏🏼
This is really good! Been struggeling with getting good reverb the last couple of months. Thank you!
"That's the dry drum sound" that already sounds awesome!
I missed the bottom of the snare :(
Thanks for another great video! I learn so much from your channel.
Love your videos
You have a very efficient way of explaining things. Keep the tutorials coming !
Your video editing is the best I've seen anywhere, tutorial-wise at least. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! I try man... I try haha
Agree!
I totally agree with Samuli. Thanks a lot for sharing this
Best instructions for kick reverb so far, many thanks.
Thanks you really learn a lot when watching your videos.
Awsome, was searching for this. GR8 content
Dude, I had no idea about the 'Sends on Faders' feature!! Life-changing tip! Great video and great tips! Thanks! :)
Nice to see you again. More frequent videos. You are greatly missed.
Great video, you made my day in using my reverbs better in my mixes.
Dude that is so reminiscent of “Digital Bath” drum sound. Amazing stuff!
Dry sounds really good
How did you got all individuals drum tracks for mixing? Nice video!
holy shit that groove
Hello, how are you.
Will you continue with the "Study the Greats" videos? They are amazing.
Strong hug.
Fabiano - Brazil
Fabiano Oliveira Yes I intend to keep making Study The Greats into the future, but I do have other interests and video ideas I want to do as well, for both this channel and my website. The time between STG episodes will be longer while I tackle these other projects, but I intend to still do them going forward. Hope that answers your question :)
Wow ! Really this is a damn good tutorial video. I watched a lot of videos like this, but this kind of showing us what you're doing exactly is very nice ! Keep it up. I will watching more videos and maybe you get an abo user more hehe good job buddy !

Question: Would you put your sends post or pre fader to the reverb?
Austin! Please do a video on this topic … how to make a dry “harsh to your ears” drum sample sound pleasing and give it ambience (like when a real drum is recorded in a room with a mic). FOR EXAMPLE … The sounds in the Roland TM-2 (which I recorded into my Mac for editing with Logic Pro X) are VERY “in your face” and need “taming” so that when you listen with headphones, the sounds don’t HURT your ears! I want to make these samples sound like they are set-back 10 feet in a room (add ambience) but not have a lingering reverb long beyond the length of the sample. What would be your approach to getting such samples to sound good? EQ out some 1k to 5k ?? PLUS run them through a “fake room mic” reverb like you did in this video? (then save the processed samples) PLEASE HELP !! Thanks.
This is from his playing on what? This is great. Thanks for this!
His Performance Spotlight videos on the Vic Firth channel 🤘🏼
Why does my space designer look so different? I also cant find the output eq on it. looks quite different....
cool
Damn those dry tracks!!!
There are quite some tracks around with high reverb on the kick. The secret is to split the kick in high and low ends, and send only the low end to the reverb in order not to get the click (ofc you wanna high pass the reverb as you do otherwise the low lows of the kick will be in your face in the reverb). My second recommandation would be to adjust your overall reverb level you do at the end of this video in the whole mix context, doing that alone makes no sense imho. what does mean too much reverb without context ? Nothing
Yeah a really handy method! Also we save a little of CPU 😄
The one thing I would have done differently is to make the effect itself 100% wet. Other than that, great video.
That's actually pretty crucial, as sending to an effect aux which isn't 100% wet will also increase the dry volume of the audio data in the track you send, which can easily mess up your balance and also might trick you to think the sound is necessarily better.
Nice. Those raw tracks tho
Man do a kick drum tutorial
too easy with drums in solo...
I don't think that drum part sounds very good to start with. Wow. Try hard? Seriously ...
it's a performance spotlight video for Vic Firth... of course he's gonna try hard
Matt's totally overrated.
