    Hi Adam! Fantastic video. Very well explained. It helped me decide on purchasing a Eufycam2 kit and I'm very happy with it. My only problem was that my camera overlooking my sidewalk was draining its battery like there was no tomorrow! It's a high traffic area and I was using HSV. It was dropping between 6 -9 % EACH DAY! But yesterday. I got the Solar Panel installed and, issue solved! It works like a charm!
    I do wish that Apple/Eufy would do something to expose the microphone to HK too since it has proved to be an invaluable feature. At least for me. Just a couple of days afyter installing these cameras I could communicate with my mom through my garden camera becuase she was about to open the door for a... hmm... let's say, 'unwanted visitor' (he's a relative thrice removed with a drug problem, who comes to ask my dad for money every now and then) I was at my local Starbucks when I got the notification, saw this guy in the footage, stormed out of the Starbucks and was able to talk... no, YELL at her 'DON'T OPEN THE DOOR! DON'T OPEN THE DOOR!' and that also scared the 'intruder' away.
    As you can imagine I was extremely relieved to have had these little cameras set up at the moment.

    Thanks for sharing your long-term experience with these Adam. I've always wondered why Eufy never fully reconcile all of their camera's functionality with HomeKit. On the eufy 2K indoor camera, it can still only shoot in 1080p when connected with HomeKit, which is a great shame

    • @AdamsTechLife
      @AdamsTechLife  3 года назад +2

      Glad I could help. Yeah the 1080p limitation I believe is an apple issue, as none of the higher quality eufy or even arlo cameras can stream/record beyond 1080p which is a bummer. Thanks for watching! 😊

    8:15 - Bit of a note on the topic of Eufy Homebase 2 storage not being expandable.
    If you have a NAS on your network you can change the setting in each camera to record to one. You can always play around with those settings.
    But even better is the new Homebase 3 has increased AI *AND*....expandable storage.

    I have had the Eufy 2C camera system at home and at work since 2021. Three years in and the wheels are coming off. One of the battery camera has lost connection range to the point where it drops out at 4m from the homebase. But the worst failure was the (somewhat expensive) Floodlight Camera. Was working great covering our driveway while it lasted. Then the lights started flashing at night. Seems that is a known problem, but the only solution according to Eufy is: Throw away and buy a new one. The newer models seem to have the same issue though. Not sure if I want to wait for the rest of the system to fall apart before I replace it altogether.

    • @AdamsTechLife
      @AdamsTechLife  2 месяца назад

      That's a bummer to hear about the floodlight camera - I'm surprised they're not offering a replacement or repair. 3 years is a long time for a camera to work, I'm going on 4 years with mine and starting to have issues more often, but that's kind of expected with extended use, I'd say you're getting a great use out of them!

      @@AdamsTechLife "3 years is a long time for a camera to work" - that is what I am trying to come to terms with. Is 3 years all we can expect for usable life here? In other words do we need to plan to replace a camera system like that every three years? Seems short to me, especially for the Floodlight Camera that is connected to mains power.

      @@azzaprime7257 I am not sure about the battery capacity of the camera that has lost connection range. The batteries on the other 4 cameras seem to be going strong. I am getting approx 5-6 month battery life. Then again I don't wait for the low battery warning to recharge them.

    Have you looked at the Netatmo outdoor cameras? It's a bit pricey up front, but it doesn't require a hub and there are no subscription fees so for the long term, it would end up being less expensive. They also have encrypted on board storage and you can download the clips to off site storage. One version even has a built-in siren. Both versions have a spotlight. These cameras work with all three major platforms which is a big plus in my book.

    Due to location, one of my cameras gets condensation on it. In the dark, the white light still works well, but the IR light causes a haze. I think it's due to where the IR LED's are installed. They probably light up the clear plastic a bit.

    Looking at getting one of these cams. Not sure why the storage capacity is seen as a negative IF it holds 3 months as mentioned. If we were talking 3 days or perhaps 3 weeks even then yeah but as I don't know many people going on 3+ months holidays then I really can't see this being too much of an issue. It's like when looking at smartwatch reviews lately and the guys in the video talk about the battery of one being not so great because the one they're comparing it to is better ... then you find out the not so great one lasts like 15 days and the better one lasts 20 days. Then you just think, we have to be talking about some pretty fussy people to grumble about charging a watch once per fortnight.

      Thanks for taking the time to respond. I reached out to Eufy, told them what I wanted & they recommended the Solocam S40. I'm not really happy with their suggestion though. Yeah it has an inbuilt solar panel which is good but I can attach a solar panel to the 2C or the Pro, it's no big deal. I also told them I wanted minimum 2 cams at my home - front of house and rear. Not sure the S40 works with that setup as I've not found adding additional cams an option for the S40, unless you buy multiple S40s.
      After seeing YT reviews on them, I'm also not overly keen on a) the accessing of the files being a bit choppy vs the 2C/Pro and b) the files being stored on the camera itself on the S40 vs not on the 2C/Pro.
      More research required for now I think.

      #1. Plus in the new updates you can specify the even clip length. So if you specify 2min I would be interested to see when it dies (is 10 events a day normal?) Plus the new 3C has a solar panel built-in like the S40. Comparison?
      #2. THE OTHER ISSUE that no one ever talks about on these reviews is the storage space being utilised more quickly when using higher quality cameras! e.g. 3C x2 versus 2C Pro x2.
      #3. So have Eufy finally fixed / added functionality for USB storage on the Homebase2? And if not, what needs to be done to setup a NAS (and what NAS is compatible)? Thanks guys!!

I have a 200gig iCloud plan so I should be able to have 5 cameras but for some reason my iCloud account thinks I have more than 5 and won't allow me to add anymore cameras unless I delete some or upgrade to the next plan that gives you unlimited cameras. I only have one other camera hooked up. Even Apple tech can't figure it out. They think maybe because I had to uninstall and reinstall the eufy cams a bunch of times they got stuck in my iCloud. I even tried to completely remove efuy from my phone and factory reset the homebase2 but no help. Do you have any suggestions?

    I have a eufy 2c set up, the range is deplorable the backdoor camera is 18' to 20' feet away (via one brick wall) from the base and impossible to get any closer. The base is connected to the router via a lan cable. The cameras do not connect to the base via wifi but on eufy's own signal that is not a standard wifi frequency. So long story short I have a 2 camera set up that only has 1 camera 100% of the time and the second camera for less than 25% of the time all in all pretty disapointing for the cost of the set up in the UK! Please note eufy/anker did send a replacement camera but still has the same results.

    I encourage those who want to buy Eufy products, if you live near high traffic areas, do your research by visiting their community forums as their software has many bugs; only detects human when should be all, detects everything when it should be humans, nigh vision does not turn off, etc.
