That line - "The crew disappointed me". What did you want the pilot to do; land overweight and damage the plane? Your fault entirely. You cannot spring a new schedule on a crew and plane halfway through an already-planned flight. Duane needs to come down off his pedestal a little and start learning the limitations of aircraft. Then, he might begin to understand how to get the best out of the aircraft. THEN, he needs to get some serious people-management training which doesn't include mimicing Circus-Joe's style. Only then, maybe, he can get somewhere with it all.
Duane is already thrown under the bus in this episode, this is just a prelude...
I had a Transport Manager like Duane who failed to understand the Limitations of Trucks & Drivers, He was an idiot who was only good enough to drive an Office Chair.
Kudos to the staff and pilots who tolerate current management and keep showing up to work in extreme conditions. The company needs a team builder not self-centered, insensitive tyrants.
That happened some 10 years ago…so by the time they solved it….
No normal person would do business under these conditions, only crazy bastards. So I think it’s working just fine
I like how Devon showed the young pilot how to do it, and not screaming at him for not doing it in the best possible way….
"The crew disappointed me"
Guy.. You disappointed yourself when you decided not to include your TEAM in the plans.
Exactly, he should've at least watched some previous Buffalo shows to make himself good at the aviation industry.
some of the stuff Duane says makes sense and there is always gonna be friction between management and staff, its in the nature of the jobs. But how he is portrayed handeling things here is exactly what will make good people quit.
Duane behaves like a dolt...fails to include staff and crews in planning then complains about bad results. The only impression he's making is opposite of what he's hoping for. The solo ego-driven culture at Buffalo is rotten and dysfunctional and everyone knows where that originates....
He needs CRM
one thing you never rush is...... crew training

I don't think I've ever managed to figure out precisely what days a RUclips "show" comes out on, but I sure as heck wish this one would double it's frequency. I'm lovin' it
The last season aired in 2014 I believe. They're just putting them here in YT at random.
When that APU fired up, it made me smile too.
Good channel I like it so much👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Love that there's still the "10 Jahre" (10 Years) Sticker of the previous Owner Amerer Air from austria on the side of the plane.
Should be wearing quality sunglasses landing into sun. My CFO wouldn't allow me out in an aircraft without them.
Is it any wonder Buffalo keeps haemorrhaging pilots?
its the time of the week, let's go!
I don't doubt there's manufactured drama, this being a tv show, but dwayne's comments are not unlike what I've heard in several jobs. I haven't had the luck to work on airplanes but I have worked in service departments of dealerships and on some construction/industrial equipment, and management had similar gripes with the mechanic teams. The thing is, if you don't know how these machines operate, you can't pass judgement on the crews on how they go about it. These are old aircraft and extreme conditions, rushing to get contracts done is dangerous.
What a workhorse plane and crew.
these people are amazing doing this type of job
This airline is a whirlwind of dysfunction.....The crew disappointed me? What?
GREAT job Tyler 🥇
Do they pay those guys enough to do all this in those conditions?
Those APU's sure are a headache
Splendid...
They should have carried the ground power unit and forget the apu. If the landing airport does not have one, probably the reason why they trying to make it work. Aircrafts can operate without an apu.
Awesome!
The planes look pretty cool.
Tyler ends up facing a tougher captain then Devan and that's Joe himself.
Quote from: Aviation Investigation Report A13W0120
Engine failure after takeoff and collision with terrain
Buffalo Airways Ltd.
Douglas DC-3C, C-GWIR
Yellowknife Airport, Northwest Territories
19 August 2013
There were other indications that the organizational culture at Buffalo Airways was not supportive of a system that required the organization to take a proactive role in identifying hazards and reducing risks. The company's response to deficiencies identified during TC surveillance activities demonstrated an adversarial relationship between the company and the regulator. The company refuted the regulatory basis of findings, questioned the competence of TC inspectors, and initially did not take responsibility for the issues identified. The overall picture that emerged from this investigation is of an organization that met the basic requirements of regulations and then only when pushed by the regulator. An SMS introduced into a culture motivated merely to comply with regulations is unlikely to be effective. The operator's SMS was ineffective at identifying and correcting unsafe operating practices.
I’ve never been this early for video post. Cool
Unless you stand to gain something it's pointless being early. It's not like you're winning an award.
That APU 🤣Normally the air hose goes on the inside of the airplane 🤣🤣
Wow 18 cents he hit the jackpot on that really 18 cents they couldn’t do a little better than that
what season and episode was this one?
bologna mayo and white bread...that describes Dewey Hicks
Duane is portrayed as individual who does not communicate well up to his superiors and down to his staff. I hope that this was unfair.
Nope, they will sideline him...
My favourite show by an Arctic mile!
I think that training exercise is the one during which First Air 6560 crashed (2011 Operation Nanook). The exercise was in August 2011.
Yep, it is. Operation Nanook is the annual sovereignty operation (sovereignty patrols) and maneuver warfare exercise. When you think about it, Buffalo's deliveries to the Canadian forces helped make sure the 3 survivors of the crash survived.
does wonder post the episodes in the chronological order of the show?
Not all the episodes...
UM IS THIS A REPEAT EPISODE?
Flying a 50 year old plane is going to cause a lot of problems. I'm surprised they even make any money at all.
Too many princess on that plane
It’s frustrating when you get stuck with slow mos at work
Duanes a bit of a D though
He could be a son of Joe...
I don't understand why the crew is griping about additional work being given to him if I understand correctly these pilots are paid by the flying hour so they're not paid to sit on the ground?
because the script requires them to 🤣
Does the new GM also know about what happens if he rushes peoples lives are on the line so it’s really not a good idea to rush these guys
0:21 welp camera fall
Can they use a huffer cart to start it instead of the APU ??
Matt - DC3's use an electric starter, not a pneumatic one.
@@wbtieke not the Electra
@@MattTrudden - This isn't a story about the Electra.
Also that's where our taxes go on stupid snowmobile
He said the Electras are fast and efficient. How is a 50 year old plane with 4 engines efficient?!
Typical pen pushers never think outside the square for the "if that happens scenario". Only himself to blame and shows a lack of skills in management of time, man hours and equipment allocations. Certain rules need to be followed not ignored just to make a deadline that has no leeway built in.
I like Buffalo Ice Pilots but I watch them years ago and these are nothing but repeats.
Where's the old Buffalo mechanic?
Did he retire or what happened to that "magician"?
Chuck? He quit ... he came back in 1 or 2 seasons later, though.
@@R1ddic thank you
Duane……….
Dump Duane, retire Joe, kick Mickey to the clubhouse toilet then start paying the boys what they're worth.
i’m hereeee
I hate being Jacked knifed in Yellowknife
No more APUs POWER UNITS BY jet fuel electric is the way to go electric doesn't care about the cold
A FAT Contract....
Im watching this naked.... is that wrong?
Oh crab
