I worked for a 135/121 operation in Alaska throughout the 90's as an A&P, and yes it takes numerous maintenance personal to make the operation go, but I can guarantee everybody that within any shop like that, there's only a few mechanics who really get stuff done with the aircraft.
Joe wants the plane in 2 days. It sat for 6 yrs thus requiring an extensive annual inspection completed before the plane could be deemed airworthy..20k? Ah, maybe a ferry permit
Wondering why he didn’t keep 1 or 2 of the DC-4 aircraft as a backup or reserve aircraft for his other DC-4 cargo aircraft? With so few left in flying condition it sad to see them go to the bone yard for spare parts. Too me the DC-4 is such a beautiful aircraft and the one I’d choose to fly if not the Lockheed Electra. Also wondering why he doesn’t look into the P3 Orions?
All planes deseve good mechanics. I was one for USAF 1979-84. C141 A&B. We fixed what they thought couldn't be repaired. Not just remove & replace parts.😢
I understand why chuck gets really pissed off some times. I am a automotive technician and I’m the same kinda guy that fixes stuff when nobody else can figure it out. All the time I have mechanics working for me that can’t figure out a problem so I get forced into working on it and when I’m done the mechanics tell me they have never done that job before and many times I haven’t either. With cars if you have say a check engine light you type it into service information, read up on how that system works because if you don’t know how it works how are you going to figure out how it doesn’t work and then you print off a flow chart and it has all the tests so you can figure it out all you need to do is read. But guys are lazy and don’t want to learn so the smart guys get screwed the smart guys have to non stop do the complicated work while the lazy guys get the easy work. The lazy guys complain they don’t make enough money and I always tell them ur pay check is in ur hands in the business if you wanna make more you need to know more. A 28 year old guy can make 100k a year while a 55 year old guy makes 50k a year because the younger guy knows more and is always learning. I tell them you can train a monkey to change an engine but diagnostic and electrical work is something you need to learn and that’s where the money is at but nobody listens. I hate reading but that’s how I learned a lot
No one has any common sense anymore and it's easier to change a whole part rather than dismantle it and repair it!..In my day you fixed things down to component level but nowadays you can't buy parts and so just throw it in the trash to become landfill.
I’m an engineer and something that really annoys me about the older guys is that they feel like they’ve earned the right to be lazy and just basically refuse to use or learn new systems and basically just don’t do it, or complain the entire time expecting us younger guys to just pick up the work because we took the time to learn the newer systems and understand the benefits they can provide and despite their output being being markedly less than most of us in our 20s and early 30s and also despite us having the same position, they are routinely looked at first for bonuses and promotion because they are older and have families and these are the same type of people to unironically bitch about “kids these days, not wanting to work,” or wonder “why younger people aren’t having kids or not doing it till much later in life.” Completely oblivious to the fact that the world has changed quite a bit in the past quarter century plus…
I believe they covered this in a previous episode. C130,s would seem like a perfect fit for buffalo but something about the canadian authorities not being keen on civilians operating ex military hardware gets in the way and civilian spec C130,s are a rarity.
True outdoor hunstmen would have cleared the ground of leaves and debris from around the fire before starting it to minimize the risk of it spreading. Also anyone with common sense would know that when a vacuum sealed pack of sausages has swollen up, its filled with gas from the meat inside going bad...
Can’t believe they just let them sit there for 6 years. That’s a lot money sitting there doing absolutely nothing out in the open environment that’s only losing its value due to Mother Nature. If it had been sitting in a hanger and taken care of it would be a bit of a different story.
The p3 Orion since they are ex military they are considered too new anything before 1950 is grandfather in. They actually bought one for firefighting but can't use it in Canada. The electra basically replaced the dc 4 in cargo
@@AbsolutelyEverybody1He doesn’t know what he means… you can hunt in Canada just like you can here in the U.S. and there are rules and regulations just like there are here because, if you over hunt or overfish a given population, then no one can hunt.
You don’t know what you’re talking about. Canadians can still hunt and they have similar rules and regulations just like what we have here. They have equivalents to DNR, Fish and Wildlife, game commission etc… on the State level and USFWS on the federal level. On a Provincial level it is handled by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Canadian Wildlife Service handles it on a Federal level but, it is primarily handled on a Provincial level in Canada, just like it is mostly handled on a state level here in the U.S. Maybe don’t judge an entire nation based on your incorrect and ignorant assumptions…
It's hard to be a good mechanic and not crab all the time. It's like 1.Take wrench in hand 2. Resume swearing. And a good mechanic is a tad lazy too otherwise he couldn't absorb all the nonstop noids.
Chuck’s a great mechanic he gets bored of the every day bullshit he needed a break nobody likes a whiner if you’re whining you need to get a away, stop drop and roll I know he comes back to buffalo it’s stressful if you have to whine to get what you want and you’re definitely not happy so move on and he does but he comes back he needed a stress dump🤪💯👏😂
They need a dozen Chuck’s and it’s not enough. Hats off to Chuck!
In this episode Joe's temper boiles over ha in the next episode Joe's temper boiles over again 😂

A&P store in AL?

Nice Aero Union tanks on the DC-4s. Should fit right onto an Electra.

Everyone who wants to go into amy kind of management should watch Joe in this series and do the opposite of what Joe does.
There goes joe AGAIN!😊
Bout time you think of modernizing the fleet.
Man, there's nothing compares to the sound of a round motor!

Hey Buffalo , there are many C-130's that would fill the bill and most likely less cost . Just sayin .
There aren't THAT many C 130s out there that are airworthy or priced right like you are saying .
That's What I was wondering,c-130. 👍

C 130s would cost way more. And also they can’t be put into civilian service in Canada.

its a PBY CATALINA
It a shame there isn’t hanger space for these treasured antiques. So much expense and waste of planes.

Too bad
The poor bastards can't even hunt now. Shame what's happened to Canada.
What do you mean?

That mechanic, Chuck, is REALLY REALLY annoying. What a whiner, always complaining and blaming others. He should have been sacked years ago.
