Watching you guys over the last decade or so definitely boosted my interest in flying. I’m a 71 year old cripple in Wales…passed all my PPL exams and just mastering crosswind landings. An inspiration Joe, Mikey and all the flight and ground crew at Buffalo. 🏴
Never missed an episode of buffalo airways show since i started watching them....really love the show 🙂🥰😄
I'm a brit and it's great Joe has given the UK's last flying Electra a good home, He will put it to good use, Keep it going and has saved it from the inevitable crusher!
The DC6 is sooo beeautifullll....
I do not give a tinkers snot about the Jet age, Its got to be the biggest privilege in aviation to be flying props and pistons these days. Very nostalgic.
Yeah, those trips in a JU52 in the Swiss Alps ...
Me neither. When it comes to aviation I was born too late but not too late that I don't remember many of these from the 1960s to 80s.
Well the Electra does technically have jets soooo… haha sorry had too but I get what you are say
@@neooverby3750 Like Joe says screaming sobs. At least they have props. I wonder who the last man standing will be, to be able to say they flew DC3-4s as the planes were still working for their living. That day is coming sooner then we might want to think/
Gorgeous old planes! These people are so incredibly lucky to fly/fly in these aircraft.
Worked on the swingtail and Electras at Zantop. 1972-76, I believe Spantax did conversions on the swingtails, really marvelous engineering, all of the locks around the tail and the trim tab cables were on an accordion devise to allow the cables to have tension when tail opens with push pull devices to move tail controle surfaces. I served with Ozark airlines, TWA and American Airlines after Zantop and I can proudly say after 47 year career that Zantop was the best job I ever had.
Ozark spelled backwards is Krazo. I worked as an A&P mechanic on some of the DC-3's and FH-227B's that Ozark Airlines had in St. Louis, Mo. 🤠
Always enjoy watching the buffalo team. You guys have passion for piston engines
I spent many hours working as a mechanic on 4TA. It was back in the mid 1970's and was owned by Zantop International out of Willow Run Airport. If Buffalo Joe ever has trouble latching that tail closed, just give me a call.
The Willow Run that pumped out so many planes during WW2?? I live outside Flint. None of our towns get any credit for the war effort. All we hear in bad water,Crime Etc.All around Willow Run are beautiful lakes, homes,Etc.
Interesting choice in music "Scarborough Fair" she once was a true love of mine
Always good to do buiness with the Brits very knowledgeable 👍🇬🇧
The kid got the best pit team any racer could wish for !
Thanks for the episide.
His Dad knew how to grease the wheels of his racer so that he could reduce the rolling friction and win. 🏆
Nice to see the people from my home City made everyone feel welcome.
Where is Mikey, oh there he is!!
So glad you're keeping the old piston pounders flying. An Electra is a good second place bird.
I love those old birds.
I worked at Zantop for 20 yrs in the 70`s & 80`s and loaded that swing tail many times. It was a different way of loading airplanes and the tail would freeze shut in the cold winters. Those L-188`s Electras were by far the coolest airplane ever. Flew on them many time nice ride and powerful airplane. Sure miss the good old days of aviation,,
‘’Courage taught me no matter how bad a crisis gets ... any sound investment will eventually pay off."
Making it out at a young age is quite difficult. I started a side hustle at 17, saved up and made some good investments. l'm 28,live on my own and having a good life for myself. Big ups to you and everyone out there trying
Sounds like plan, how do you put money to work?
@@ariaibrahim1291 Yes it sure is. I put in money in investments and get profits. That 's how I make more money without working. This does not sound new to you right ?
@@cryptocasey1083 Thanks for replying me, I've heard so many people talk about investment but none had said how to do it right.
Am hoping on you can explain more on how you make extra income from investments
Brilliant programme 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Young driver of children racing is very brave . Also it's been 3 days here in Southern California sinc Jan 28 , 2024 too hot which people turned on AC !
British person here.I had to laugh at Mickey 's attempt at driving on our roads.
The first Round-a-bout out of Heathrow gets me all the time.
I know it is there and I mentally prepare, yet .....
Oh that Jersey Airways Heron, brings back childhood memeories. 😁
I really appreciate your videos as I used to regularly watch N.W.T Ice pilots on the Discovery channel.
However I haven't seen them until recently because I cant afford the subscription to pay to view tv as its so expensive.
So I appreciate wonder in providing ghem for free, by the way I forgot to mention a couple of months ago, congratulations on buying your first Boeing 737 Freighter.
If I ever get the chance in the future I will visit yellow knife and or other parts of alaska and will keep my eye out for buffalo airways singnature vintage planes.
Good one!
I worked on the swing tail DC6 in Boston in the 80s.
Great episode.
Swinging tail aircraft are always fun. Got many memories of flying long nights, wondering which rudder I should push if those latches fail in the back. Ahhh yes, good times
lol that one got my insides hurting from laughter after I thought about your comment, rather morbid but always pays to be prepared. Out of curiosity which pedal were you favouring for the win?
Bump out a few dents and put a fresh coat of paint on and she'll look like new🤔👍👍👍......😁
1 very important question " where's the bathroom ?"
hahaahhaah
I love your humor kid...
It was SO frightening driving in England with my instinct to look to the left at a stop sign to make sure it's safe to proceed. Mike mentioned that. It can cause drivers in opposing traffic to have to slam on their brakes, which will startle the most confident of us.
Mike parked in a handicap space- oh, right. His handicap is his unfamiliarity with U.K. driving practices.😀
Nice!
Filler, Filler, Filler, Filler, Filler !!
Finaly❄️✈️
What the heck !!! What kind of fly-by was that, with the landing gear down???
It should've been totally clean and as fast as possible.🤔☹
awesome
I worked as an avionic technician for British midland airways at East Midlands Airways during the mid and late 80’s. I worked mainly on DC9 and 737 but also ATP, Shorts 360 and briefly Viscounts.
Air Bridge got their maintenance done at Fields aviation just opposite our hanger, there’d always be an Electra or Vanguard (merchantman) being worked on, I’d often walk over and take a look at what even back then seemed quite old aircraft, that they are still flying now is testament to their design, durability and the people that keep them in the air.
The guys there would let me take a look around the aircraft and I wonder if Ihave crawled around this one???
Nice im working for DHL in H29 at EMA airport carrying out A checks on 757/767s still and old run down hangar
The one time I have seen an Electra, was at Belize Airport. It was a cargo flight and they unloaded it from the front, without putting the tail prop in place. Oh, how I laughed 😂🤣.
Good job
Finnish Kar-Air had a swing tail DC-6 back in the day. Could this be that one?
Mikey sounds like Kermit the Frog.
GREAT
Marmelada, that's what we call!!!
"James is trying to show off his skills in the DC-4 Water bomber," Actually its Devan Brooks thats trying to show off his skills ;) . But thanks for posting.. just saw this episode this am and was looking for some info that I missed. Cheers
Thanks. Ey.
I've never seen a swing tail before huh!
Not only does Mikey drive the wrong way on a one way road, but he parks in a handicap spot right after! Are we sure he’s not American?
It looks like Buffalo Joe got the best in that transaction as all the extra parts were priceless. I have no idea if these shows are scripted but there were two decisions Mike made that were bad. He should have let the lady with the experience drive and at the place he was to pick up parts, he parked in a handicap designated space. :(
5:02 I love how they blur the face of the kids on the packaging, as if they need to protect their identity.... They're on a box, out in public by the millions... what are you smudging the faces for? XD
When you lose an engine a week, you have to question either the maintenance crew or the script!
Well Radials have the rep for not being the most reliable.
Are they being filmed week after week or is there some time in between?
These episodes are compilations of months of filming so they can pile all the drama into a few episodes.
One question for you Mikey, that Canadian friend who had been in the U.K. for ten years, did she by any chance have a drivers license?
Never Used her....
The Swing Tail is in a Field at Buffalo Air in Hay River... Dying...
In the 60's it was The Plane of The Los Angeles Dodgers hauling the Players around the US...
What a Waste of a Plane...
RIP Swing Tail 6....😢
When is the 737 300 going to be coming to buffalo
60 years later guys look at our md10 it might be from the 70s but that ok
Mikey should of been driving an stick shift that would of really be interesting to see
Are the gas and brake pedals opposite too?
@@maytagmark2171 right gas left brake
Better to happen trying to hit floating pools then get a contract and can’t fulfill the requirements.
So, why did the DC-6 never fly for Buffalo? They bought it just to store it?
Should of got a CL44....
I think mikey had said because of the modifications of the swing tail it won't pass inspection for Canada
Had no idea this bird was left to rot at Cov airport 4 miles from where I live and the airport I had lessons at between age 12-16 with 60 hours - most of which weren't usable as flying hours only apply after being age 14+. This was the law in 2001 at least! Does anybody know when they actually came to Cov?
Show ran from 2009
thanks, I decided to check myself and was able to find, thanks!@@felixtheswiss
Equipmentn & ideas are great. Offhand stool mouth ruins it.
I wish we could buy Buffalo Airline shirts and hats
Zantop DC-6?
Yep but l was lucky enough to see it when it belonged to Spantax
this episode is bits and pieces from other episodes, hate when they do this.
Ahh back when you got a trophy for winning
Fancy letting a woman give him directions he should have let her drive and he could have been the navigator. She is used to driving here (perhaps)
Can't believe they took our last electra. .
Atleast it's be used and maintained well. Heck I saw one of them landing at Vancouver International a little while back.
It takes a brave man to take driving directions from a woman 🤣
Can I ask what's happened to the Buffalo
737 down in Bournmouth airfield UK ?
Watching
You simply cannot do water bombing and have a failing engine.
My question is . . . Is that Mikey's girlfriend (squeeze) ??
Since then, Buffalo Airways has finally entered the jet age with a 737-300.
First yay
Too many chiefs and not enough Indians that's the problem with Buffalo Airways bring the Jets in and safely get off that ethanol gasoline kind of thingy thing you doing now you know 100 low lead whatever to call it is the past tell dad that mgernf stuff
I assume you do know that your computer has a period key and when to use it.
I would not fly in any of their planes if that’s the soap box durby their master engineer built!! ☝️😂
Beauties
Just let the woman drive… 🤦🏻♂️@31:10
