I would like to mention that the reason I do not want to explicitly mention what surgeons I will be going with is because everyone has opinions on these surgeons. There are surgeons that I do not want to go with, and I do not want to explain why because others will hold those surgeons in high regard and that will create conflict. I would like to share the surgeons I have chosen and other details like that, but I feel that is better suited for when these things are actually happening, not while things are in the preparation stages. I'm sorry if this bothers anyone! Choosing surgeons, especially for life altering things like gender confirmation procedures is something trans people put a lot of thought and research into - it's something I've worked on for a long time and I don't want to make anyone else feel like they've made the wrong choice of surgeon, like I don't want others to make me feel like I've made the wrong choice of surgeon. I hope all of that makes sense, it's 4 AM haha!
+Stef Sanjati Have you also taken into consideration your recovery time in the total cost? I don't think you'll be able to work during recovery time :( So that's money lost too.
+Crimson Skies I work here on RUclips! I don't have to be at an office or a store or anything like that - if I had a more corporate job, I likely wouldn't need a fundraiser but I also would have difficulty with working while recovering. Good things and difficulties in every career path!

Estrogen does not heighten the pitch of a transgender woman's voice. It may soften their voice to an extent, but Stef most likely had to feminize her voice with vocal exercise. :-)

Stef, you send out so much positivity and beauty, it is not surprising to hear you talking about all the positive and supportive comments you receive on your videos. You get back what you give. Everything from your makeup videos to your honest and open transition videos are a joy to watch. I do have one question, and I hope it is not too personal, but WHERE can I find a mood light like yours? I LOVE it!
I plan on doing a filming set up video eventually, but in the mean time I'll give you the scoop! The light is from a Halloween store, it's supposed to be an icy/aquatic light I think... I'm not sure!

I believe estrogen/testosterone does not change the pitch or tone of ones voice. I've heard that a trans person has to train themselves to speak a certain way, but I'm not 100 % sure.
+Potatoeing Estrogen doesn't change voice unless maybe someone transitions in puberty, Stef is training her voice and lifting it to be higher
+Lamer Gamer Testosterone definitely does change the person's voice, but estrogen doesn't. There are a lot of FtM videos on how their voice has changed since they started their HRT, but MtF people either don't change their voice or train their voice to be higher.

I always like to see how happy people are after they come out and when they start transitioning, and how excited they get when these little changes happen. Whoa. I just came from your Waardenburg syndrome video and the change of voice was very very surprising!
It sounds a lot like stuff we women have anyway, the hormones going nuts and feeling unreasonably sad and weepy, the sore boobs (seriously, all I did was move my arms my boob is soooo painful) and even down to the hair removal, us girls spend a lot of time removing hair (some don't, lucky things!) and the world doesn't talk about it. Welcome to womanhood, isn't it wonderful! lol xx

I feel u but also I wanna throw out there that getting rid of facial hair for trans women can literally be life or death because passing for trans people (especially trans women) is incredibly important because if they don't they can be targets of violence.

No. Estrogen does NOT lighten the voice. Voice training is the only avenue, aside from one surgery that is risky because the results are unpredictable, for a person to change their voice.

Hi Stef, I just want to say that I really hope everything goes well through your transition and brace yourself because the mood swings are really surprising! Watching this video reminded me so much of my puberty!! I used to think, when I was a child, that my hormones couldn't mess up my emotions as much as they did with my mom... This is not the cost of the reassignment alone - FFS AND SRS, plus travel costs and all that jazz. I don't expect to get the full goal with donations, I have been saving my own money too that I will be adding to the pot as soon as I can!

Just curious, doesn't your country provide free SRS? I heard in UK you get it for free
Some countries do provide it with coverage - depending on where you live, the wait list could be very long and of course, there is only one surgeon usually that you can get the surgery with. If that surgeon is not your choice or you feel would not give you good results, it's probably best to look into other avenues if you can.
I had my SRS free on the NHS, I did get some choice with the surgeon I went to and love the results 😀
There's not that many surgeons in the UK that do SRS surgery tho, but they are great at what they do.
If I wanted to I had the option to pay for it privately as I did with my breast augmentation and tracheal shave so far.

You can get it on the NHS in the UK, but the waiting list can be years. One of my friends was told they'd be on a waiting list for 3 years, so they're getting it done privately instead, which is obviously way more expensive but the waiting time was just over a year, rather than 3 years. So I guess it depends on your own preferences as well as where you live :)

I laughed so hard at your face when you said, "what have I been going through emotionally?" cause I know that look. Welcome to womanhood. the mood swings will never get better, it isn't even like it's just cause of all the extra estrogen right now, nope, it's gonna be a forever deal. I swear, I can have a mood swing by looking at an ice cream cone. estrogen is a kick in the pants. and I was born a girl, I can't even imagine what you're going through having the girl hormones thrown at you all at once in two months.
I don't get what a "face feminization surgery" could do, like, what does it involves ? Jaw, cheeks, others ? What makes a face feminine ? What are masculine feature ? I don't see what could be feminized on a face. Then, to be honest, no one could tell from your face that you're trans. No one.
Then about your boobies, the pain you felt crushing your boob against the door is something that is normal during cisgender female puberty. I don't really know what it is, but I remember that sudden random sting, and my mom saying "Hun, those are your boobs growing !" You're basically having a late female puberty after a male one ! Amazing how a body can do such things...

Ancalìmon Loweene If I remember correctly incisions are made at the temple and behind the jaw so they're not visible. Cosmetic surgeons always take scarring into consideration when planning the process

I would like to donate but I have issues to understand why it costs you so much. The last time I checked the price for both procedure it was arround 20k EUR which is around 30K CAD. Or is it that you are looking for the best surgeon ?
Yes, there are definitely less expensive avenues but those are not the doctors that I plan on going to.
