Most of us have since then stayed on the east coast. And Like most Irish and Scottish immigrants back then, they dropped the "Mac" from their names. So Maclaren became Laren. And because many couldn't read or write, and because of the accent, over time it was changed, misunderstood and misspelled and became Laurence, then Lawson and then Laws as well as other variations. So if anyone has any of those last name or something close, then you MIGHT be related to them as well.
