    Do you own a Canon 22mm f/2 Lens? What do you think about? Is the small size and wide angle helpful?

      Yes, I do, and I love it! It's safe to say I haven't been using the kit lens 15-45 since I got the 22mm. It was my first prime lens and the quality difference blew my mind! Paired with my M6 II it fits in a pocket of a jacket! Loving it on portraits, street photography and even RUclips videos when I need wide angle. I'm not bothered it does not work with other Canon mounts, both my cameras are M mount 😊 Yeah, it might be discontinued soon, but as long as cameras work, they do an excellent job!

      @@smileonaplate The M6 II is great! I also have one. It has an improved ISO performance - exactly what is need when the f/2 aperture is not wide enough. I regret that Canon, most probably, will not produce EOS M cameras or EF-M lenses anymore. But, as you said, as long as they work, they do an excellent job! Glad you're enjoying your 22mm lens and good luck with your YT channel!

    I have the 24mm f/2.8 EF-S pancake lens. I use it with my Canon SL2. I do have the adapter for my M6II or eos-M cameras from Viltrox. Canon may have abandoned the M series but the M series will always live on at my house.

      The EF-S 24mm f/2.8 is a good alternative for the EF-M 22mm f/2 and the M6II is awesome! The SL2 is great too, it has Dual Pixel AF.

    Salutare! Merci in avans!

      Salut! Da, pentru ce ai nevoie, as spune ca obiectivul Canon EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM este foarte potrivit in majoritatea situatiilor - doar ca n-are stabilzare si niciun obiectiv fix EF-M nu are, dar in rest e bun.

    Curious if you prefer the EF-M 22m f/2 or the EF-S 24mm f/2.8. I currently have both lenses. I paid 20 USD for the 24mm and I got the 22mm in a bundle with an original EOS M and the 18-55mm kit lens for 180 USD. I already had an M6 Mark II and have sold the EOS M for 210 USD. I'm thinking about selling off either the 22mm or the 24mm as I dont see a huge use to having both, however I could very well be missing something.

      Nice to see that you bought that gear at a low price and even made a profit. Good job! The two lenses are very similar when it comes to image quality, focusing speed and even the minimum focusing distance. The main notable differences are in the aperture opening, f/2.8 vs f/2 and in the size/portability. The EF-M 22mm f/2 is better at these last two aspects, so I prefer the 22mm.

      @@apertureatlas I see, thank you! I have gotten all my gear relatively cheap. The canon M6 MkII is my first ever digital camera. I paid 450 USD for that and it came with the EF-S 55-250mm IS II and EF 50mm f/1.8 STM. I paid 20 USD for the 24mm f/2.8, and I got the EF-M 18-55mm and 22mm lenses basically free.

      I got my M6 Mark II for 500 USD (body only, but in a perfect shape). The EF-S 55-250mm IS II, that you got with the camera, is one of the sharpest zoom lenses ever and the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM is an essential lens. The other 3, of course, are also nice. It amazes me how quickly we can find good gear at a low price nowadays. You just have to search more carefully and that's it. 5-7 years ago these deals were not possible, at least not for such good gear. Enjoy it!

    I was thinking to buy this lens as it has dropped to 139 euros in my country and because I’m not satisfied with quality the kit lens of my m50 has.
    My concern with this lens is the lack of image stabilisation, the shots may be very shaky.

    • @apertureatlas
      @apertureatlas  Год назад +1

      Having a full frame equivalent of 35mm, this is a wide angle lens, so, in you photos, camera shake will be less pronounced. I didn`t had issues in the 4 years in which I had it. There are very few wide prime lenses that have image stabilization. If you really need stabilization for your work, maybe switch to a camera from Olympus or Panasonic that has 5-axis in-body image stabilization. There are my thoughts, hope they help!

    why doesn it zoom?

    • @apertureatlas
      @apertureatlas  9 месяцев назад +1

      With this lens, you must physically get close to your subject. There are zoom lenses and there are prime lenses. This is a prime lens - they also come with advantages, like delivering better image quality and letting more light in, when compared to zoom lenses.

    Autofocus often misses when doing full subject shots. AF is also slow as hell.
    Sharpness is not the best compared to sigma 16mm.
    Also image stabilization isn't included.
    This makes it not be the best walk around lens in my opinion.
    I'd much rather have the canon EF 50mm f1.8 with a speed booster as my walk around lens: fast autofocus, cheap, and sharp.

    • @apertureatlas
      @apertureatlas  11 месяцев назад +2

      Indeed, it is not a great lens. I would also prefer the EF 50mm f/1.8 with a speedbooster, but that would make the whole camera bigger. With a EF-M 22mm lens, a mirrorless EOS M camera will remain more portable (and this is probably the reason why so many people got it). It is small, lightweight, not great, but decent.
