    If you want small, marry this lens with a Canon 100d (aka the EOS Rebel SL1). This is my rig and let me say you will be shocked how good this small combo is.

    Great shots, Jared! I bought this lens when I had the T6i. I loved it on that camera, and I carried it over to my 90D and still love it; it works great with the 90D's "demanding" high megapixel sensor. The photos that come out of it just seem to have something special. It stays on my camera like a lens cap. For video, though, I prefer something not so wide. I tend to use the 18 - 135 USM at around 35mm.

    Thanks for this great video. I purchased the 24mm Canon Pancake lens a few years ago. Have enjoyed it...but haven't put it on my 80D enough. This has inspired me to do just that. I too have a challenge with Street Photography in that I struggle to get in front of people and I am very uncomfortable getting in peoples personal space. I love Street Photography and the images other photographers have created. It is helpful to hear other photographers experiences and challenges. Hopefully I can take this and find my comfort zone in this genre. Thanks again.

As someone who is starting with photography its sometimes so overwhelming by the options of cameras and lenses...etc. And i feel kinda lost but videos like this makes me feel better about my choices and options and stuff...so i think this lens is perfect...i already have 50mm f 1.8 im happy with it..but im looking to add more lenses to collection :D Just keep doing what ur doing! :D

But it all comes with time, and I'm STILL learning new things constantly, it's a never ending journey haha thanks so much for this though!! I'm glad you found it helpful. This lens is great! Super affordable and really high quality, and the "true to your eye" aspect is probably my favorite part about it.

    Superb black and white conversions. Are you taking the files into silver efx? Also your colors are great too, almost cooked. Like modern Herzog. I’d love to know your process. Although it might be proprietary. I’m getting my 24mm efs in the mail tomorrow. It’s gonna be a change getting that close. I wish Canon made more primes for apsc, but the 24mm might be all that’s needed. Great work, and thanks!

    • @winslow_j
      @winslow_j  Год назад +2

      Wow I love herzogs work, thanks so much for that! The black and white is my own preset that I made in Lightroom, and I think I owe a lot of my color to canons base color science haha although I do have my own little formula even though it’s simple! I’d be happy to make a video about this. Oh man I think you’re gonna love it. Like I said in this video, it took me a while to get comfortable with getting this close and I’m still working on it haha but this lens is the perfect balance between getting close and still being able to stay hidden. Good luck with it. Thank you for this and thanks for watching!

      Thank you man! Thanks for watching 🙏Most of the time, I have my camera on shutter priority mode and set my shutter to 800, that way you don't have to worry about the aperture, and usually match my iso to the shutter speed. Awesome vid. Your channel is what motivates me to get out and shoot.
    Question; what’s your ‘technique’ for when you do street photography, and as you call it ‘run and gun’ where you have to get close to your subjects (people)? Do you keep the camera low and close to your body and ‘half press’ the shutter to focus and then click when the subject enters your frame? Or do you straight up get up and close to people with the camera at face level? Maybe you can do a video about the technique you use for street photography? Keep up the good work 👍 We appreciate you!

    • @winslow_j
      @winslow_j  Год назад +1

      These are all really great questions! I can definitely make a video about this. That’s a good idea and I appreciate the suggestion, I think I have a few tips and ideas I can share since I’m a little on the shyer side when I’m shooting.
      Most of the photos shown in this video were taken with the camera kept low near my body, and I kinda just take the shot hoping the camera gets it in focus, although sometimes I’ll half press like you said if I can see the shot coming. The shot of the first woman for example with the yellow shirt, I sped up to get next to her, held my hand out slightly and took the shot without looking at her. Probably not the most full proof system, but it’s worked really well with this lens so far and makes it look like you’re not even taking a photo.
      Also, really means a lot to hear that my channel motivates you, exactly why I wanna do this so I appreciate that 🙏🏻🙏🏻 thanks so much! And I’ll definitely make a video about this topic
