Dillusional. Sports psychology favours the team that had lost twice over the past few weeks, as we saw in the first half. Everyone knows the USA could put together at least four different teams together that could beat Serbia, but that doesn’t mean that South Sudan, Germany, or a few other countries such as Serbia are not able to make a single game interesting. In a best out of seven series Team USA beats Serbia 10 out 10 times. It’s not that close, but go ahead and think that it is if it makes you feel better.

Serbia will always be the biggest challenge for the US at any basketball tournament. Serbian basketball is phenomenal.
Maybe, we’ll see. A few years ago it was Lithuania and Spain. Where are they now? Team USA has the depth of talent and the development system to continue to dominate for the foreseeable future. I’m happy to see other countries like South Sudan and France starting to show potential, but the Americans still set the standard, by a large margin.

Lithuania has consistently been one of the Top teams in all tournaments for 20+ years. yes the team is rebuilding currently, with new young talent coming(Matas Buzelis, Jakucionis). And Serbia has always been a tough team. They had few years of rebuilding there, but they are at their peak right now. in 2002 they beat USA, In 2019 Serbia beat USA. France has always been a contender too, winning euros in 2013, Silver in 2021 Olympics, and Bronze in 2019. So again I'm asking you, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? Serbia,France,Spain,Lithuania,Greece have always been contenders. Germany may have never had a team as good as they do right now, but none of these teams performance comes as a shock to anyone who follows international basketball. What is a surprise is South Sudan and how well they played. NBA set the standard, by a large margin in the 90s. Maybe early 2000s(even then in 2000, you were saved by a missed 3 pointer in the semis in sidney). Now you Set the Standard, the margins have been getting razor thin for years.

Plus, Serbs were always a challenge for USA, we beat them in 2002 FIBA World Cup in 1/4 finals. They were excellent with Reggie Miller, Paul Pierce, Ben Wallace...We beat them several times after that. Yesterday we were robbed against them. We are waiting for them in the LA.

As Serbian, I understand that team USA is composed of the best players at Olympics. But, this great game showed that basketball is team game, not a show. There is no coaching at USA team side. They were lucky to have Steph to keep them alive. Serbia played as a team with good coach and that was great. I could not imagine Serbia being so close to win, one and a half top NBA players in our team, Nikola not in a top form. Game was a joy to watch. I am sad Serbia lost as it was a chance to prove that basketball is not a show but a team game.
Let’s see what 🇫🇷 can do. USA had to spend lots of energy to be Serbia. So will see how much they have left in the tank to say they such an old team

Yes they are some of the best NBA players but they don’t play together all the time. Like all teams they have some time to practice together and try to be a cohesive team. I’ve watched all their games and none of the USA players were trying to be individuals on the court they were trying to find the rhythm of playing together. Every NBA team will say they have the best players but no NBA team wins all their games. Because teams sometimes can’t find the right combination that works.

The stats pretty much sum up how USA played this game - White, Bam and Edwards played awful - Booker, Durant, Davis, and Holiday did enough - Lebron, Embiid, and Curry clearly carried this game especially Curry offensively and Lebron and Embiid had sleeper defensive games.

Walton was given the crown jewels of coaching - The Lakers - and it turned out that it was Kerr, not Walton who made those great Warrior teams click. Walton subsequently vanished.
I disagree, Kerr deserves another shot, he's a great coach given difficult talent and egos to balance
