thats Eurovision in a nutshell - you send an awesome song, no win. You send an ok catchy song with a show, preferably girl or guy dancing/undressing/sexy moves, boom, you win. Probably the only exception to that is the Serbian and Ukraine winners this decade, they were neither, and still won.

I bought the eurovision cd in 2000, and this song was my favourite! I was 11 and I had it on repeat on my cd-player, I listened to it while i was going on mountain hiking. My family thought it was a bit strange to listen to eurovision songs on mountain hiking, but it was so precious; One of my best childhood memories! And one of the best eurovision songs ever!!
My first encounter with this band. Year later they had international hit Maybe. Biggest band in Latvia now, probably ever. A pity they didn't win in that contest.
I love this so much! :) Still listening 16 years later. It is such an ordinary pop song (in the best way), with homage to the 60s/70s a lil bit. A well deserved third place for Latvia's first time of competing!

Really good song, great performance. One of things that stands out is how the singer is always looking to see which camera is ‘on’ him, then he turns to face it - it’s a tricky thing to accomplish well in a live multi-camera set-up (a lot of other Eurovision entrants don’t even bother), especially when the editor switches quickly from one camera to another and he’s trying to concentrate on singing as well! But it really makes it feel as if he’s singing to us, the TV audience, and the eye-contact gives the whole performance a very intimate feel. Superb.
It's not like they haven't rehearsed it and the production is completely random. But sure enough, his eyes nearly suck you into the monitor when he's singing.

The lead singer Renars Kaupers actually co-hosted Eurovision 2003 and a 50th anniversary special in 2005.
The year after this festival came from Latvja I went to Riga. I want to thank that guy for showing me all the places to go!
