Honestly this should've won the tiebreaker. It's such an absolutely gorgeous mix of French and Arabic music with a super-talented singer. It's my favorite French entry of all time and possibly my favorite of the entire 20th century.

What a masterpiece...an absolute work of art this one I literally can't fault it. I love Sweden's entry that year just as much, they are both really excellent entries and honestly there should've been two winners that year if you ask me :)

Yeah, normally I don't have a taste for these Arab influenced singing, grown up in rock and soul, it's just not my sort of harmony, but this is pure beauty, much aided along with this great performance
@@reuireuiop0 Yes. I think the thing here is that this isn't really "Arab", but instead, original Algerian Kabyle singing. Indigenous North African people that lived there before the Arab conquest. It's more Mediterranean culture than Middle Eastern.

@@toringepedersen9614 Yeah that's true, but this song and Sweden's Carola had the same amount of points from the juries. The rules at the time stated that in case of a tie, the one who had gotten most 12 points would win; they had the same. So they went on to who had received the most 10 points, and that was Sweden. Today, however, the rules state that in a tie, the country that has received points from the biggest amount of countries wins, and that is what France did.

Elle termine au final 1ere a égalité avec la Suède mais, a cause du résultat de l'Eurovision 1969 qui avait fait polémique (4 vainqueurs ex-aequo), l'UER qui organise l'Eurovision a du créer un règlement pour départager les pays au cas où ça arriverait à nouveau
A l'époque, le règlement était que si 2 pays (ou plus), étaient premiers a égalité, on les départagereaient au nombre de 12 pts, s'il y a toujours égalité, le plus grand nombre de 10, etc, et s'il y avait toujours égalité a la fin, les 2 chansons étaient déclarées gagnantes
Hors, la France et la Suède avaient obtenu le même nombre de 12 pts mais, la Suède ayant obtenu plus de 10 pts a donc été déclarée vainqueure ce qui, vous l'imaginez avait fait énormément polémique en France avec notamment le commentateur français qui serait sortis de sa cabine a la fin du show en hurlant dans les couloirs
Ce qui encore plus triste, c'est que la règle des égalités actuelles (en vigueur depuis 2008 décide que l'on met devant, le pays ayant obtenu des points de la part du plus grand nombre de pays. Hors, la France avait obtenu des pts de la part d'un pays de plus que la Suède et donc, aurait gagné avec ce système)

Amina, right after the end of the song kissed the conductor Jérôme Pillement, after performing perfectly with the orchestra. (Remember the disaster with the sax player during the Greek entry and the problem with the guitars during the Luxembourgish one) It's a pity, the video is cut before this moment!

Timeless masterpiece. This made even the mediocre Rome '91 feel like the Scala for 3 minutes. One of my fondest Eurovision favorites and it most certainly should've won.

تابعت المسابقة مباشرة من البيت عندما كنت اعيش في السويد آنذاك. لقد كنت قد اعجبت بصوت وغناء وحركة أمينة ، لكنني أصبت بخيبة أمل عندما اعطوا الانتصار للمغنية السويدية كارولا التي لم تكن تستحقها. وبالمناسبة بقيت كذلك بعض القنوات السويدية تغازل أغنية وصوت أمينة بعد المسابقة، وهذا دليل على اعجابهم بفنها واغنيتها. كان ذلك ايام الشباب الذهبي قبل 33 سنة، اما الآن فإنني أعيش الشباب الفضي في المغرب بعد انتهاء فترة الدراسة والعمل هناك. تحياتنا لأمينة من المغرب

Unos opinan que habla del machismo en el mundo árabe, otros creen que habla de la manipulación informativa durante la Guerra del Golfo Pérsico durante la Tormenta del Desierto (El último que ha hablado tiene razón sería la traducción del título con su mise en relief y todo para hacer hincapié) e incluso lanza una indirecta al entonces presidente Bush de los Estados Unidos, en concreto, la frase Dime en nombre de qué nación elevas el tono en mi casa.
Para mí habla del uso de la fuerza y la tradición para apoyar la autoridad. El grito, el puñetazo en la mesa, el "aquí mando yo". Irónicamente, por supuesto, es decir criticándolo. Decir que es "en el mundo árabe", disculpa @Carlos MS, tiene para mí un tonillo como si esas cosas no pasaran fuera de él. A mí me parece global. Como el machismo es también cuasi global, se puede decir que va contra esa forma de machismo, pero seguro que se da incluso fuera de ese contexto y la canción sólo menciona el sexo para decir que no hay diferencia ("Fille ou garçon: Tous ces dictons sont des leçons"). Es la (bellísima) intérprete, creo, la que hace que nos imaginemos una familia árabe y un hombre velludo pegando un puñetazo en la mesa del comedor. Es ella... y nuestros estereotipos, metidos en nuestros cerebros.

The Danish jury (composed by 8 music experts and 8 music lovers and based at TV-Byen studios) didn't think the same and gave it 0 points and 12 to Sweden, 10 to Israel, 8 to Turkey, 7 to Ireland, 6 to Germany, 5 to Switzerland, 4 to Luxembourg, 3 to the United Kingdom, 2 to Norway and 1 to Portugal.
I remember when this masterpiece came second beside that clown song of Sweden. Usual Swedish influence happening every year...
She wuz robbed. Unfortunately the general standard in 1991 was so high that there were maybe half a dozen other songs that deserved to win as well. But that doesn't mean she wasn't robbed.
