Attempting to make Viking cloth this is the easiest tutorial to follow
I warped my loom with this pattern over the weekend and have completed about ten repeats of the sequence so far. It is weaving up beautifully. I have wanted to experiment with some twill patterns for awhile and this one is perfect. Thank-you for your chart and videos. They were an amazing help.

Thank you, seriously, thank you. Your explanation for the repeat (counting) makes perfect sense. Much like a crochet pattern (and maybe knitting, I don't knit) the start of a row, before the repeat is often a bit 'different' than the repeat itself. It took me a while to wrap my brain around that in crochet, but it makes good sense now.
For the confused, lemme save you the time of combing through comments. The repeat starts at the group of four. 2222(44222). 6:48
I spend most of the day staring at my heddle wondering why things weren't making sense. I added the group of two before the group of 4 in my repeat. >.

First of all thank you so much for this video series, I'm looking into weaving this pattern and thought I'd need to invest in a much more complicated loom, a rigid heddle is more in my price range. This sets my mind at ease. Second, if I want to weave with a higher dpi/finer yarn, what would need to be done to keep this pattern roughly the same size as it is here? I can't quite wrap my head around the scaling, and most of the info I'm seeing that seems in the right direction is for double weave on a large fixed loom.
Not sure if this will make sense but after you do the first threading set there are 14 ends per threading sequence. Again not sure if this helps.
So, if I'm reading this correctly, you need 3 heddles? Great video! I want to try this, but I think I need another heddle LOL!
Only two heddles :)
The back row is the instructions for pulling the threads through the back heddle for direct warping, just the same as you'd do for any other length of fabric, apart from the intermittent 4-threads-in-a-slot.
The middle row is where you pull some of the threads out of the slots and thread them into holes, again just as normal except that many of the slots still have more than one thread and some of the holes are empty.
Once you've done that you add the second heddle and thread that following the front row. Note that all the ones that are in holes in the middle are now in slots, and the ones in holes at the front were in slots so once more, some slots have more than one thread.

Very informative video. So looking forward to trying this pattern. Just a quick question. From your other responses, am I correct in assuming you used two - 10 dent heddles and sock/finger weight yarn? Thank you.

A question regarding selection of heddle size with fiber choice. Do you select the heddle the same as if using a single heddle?
I did but not sure if that is correct sorry.
I have one ever used a 10 dent heddle with fine #1 yarn.
I plan to try it with thicker yarn some day and see how it turns out.
The threads that only go through slots and don't go through holes won't be lifted, so they won't be part of the weave. Those threads would just be loose . There are some that don't go through holes. Can someone explain how the threads that go through only the slots will be lifted to be part of the weave?
It is my understanding the explanation is these threads will create the third shed which is accomplished by having both heddles in the down position. I recently worked a two heddle diamond pattern and it works, have fun!
So the first group of 2 on the very left is done only once at the beginning ?

Follow the entire diagram across once and then yep start from the repeat and continue to do the reapeat til the end of your project.

I hand drew it. I find doing that made it more understandable. I also viewed all the videos twice before I attempted it. My only problem was with tension on one of my warp threads, but that had nothing to do with the instructions.
@@sharonwaddell2548 was the tension issue in the 3rd position when both heddles are down?

Really silly question, but if I know what size yarn for my loom with 1 heddle, do I use a finer yarn with 2 heddles like this? As if the epi were twice as much?
I used a sock/fingering weight yarn.
Are both heddles in neutral when you thread them?

So it’s 222244222 then 44222,44222? It’s my first time really getting into weaving
For realz. The method and write out don't make sense for the repeat at all until you watch allllll the way to the end where she says you start the repeat at the group of 4. I've come to the conclusion it is 222244222 and I just cut out the extra 2 that I added because of that. If there hadn't been a video I would have thrown this out the front door.
