- In this video, I'm going to be embarking on my journey to weave through the 600+ 4-shaft weaving drafts found in Anne Dixon's Handweaver's Pattern Directory using my rigid heddle loom!
I'll be talking about why I decided to start this project, the looms, and the tools I'm using the sett.

Thank you for this message
Looking forward to how you change the pattern for the RH loom
Love your thinking!!
Thank you, Amy. I just got my 24' inch Ashford. I did wonder about this same topic and I'm glad I found your video.
Thrilled that your making this journey. Will be following closely
THANK YOU. I shifted from glass to textiles after a wreck. Then loading a loom became so painful I stopped, and sold my 8 shaft to fund a service dog. But I love weaving. I have come back to a rigid heddle and a saori loom again. But the way you thread looks so body friendly. My little heart is so happy right now.
You are awesome!! I'm with you on your journey!!! Thank you for your generosity!! sending love
Amy, I love that you are sharing your journey with us ❤️ I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Really happy to share! Amazingly fun things :-D are ahead! When I flip through the book I want to skip around LOL But I know I (and you all) will get the most out of this if I just take each section 1 by 1 ;-)
@@AmyDMcKnight 👍👍p.s. I just downloaded the Xenakis book xo
@@funhousefibers yay! the fun begins ;-)
Wow I really understand it . Thank you
Amy you are the best weaving teacher in the world. Bless you for all RHL lessons that you bless us with 😘
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Amy!!
Ooohhh! I'm sooo looking forward to seeing how these turn out. My rigid heddle is currently warped for double weaving a blanket, but I'm definitely going to try this next!
I LOVE your videos! I’ve taken an in-person weaving class and your videos are much better! You’re lessons are concise and informative & you have a great sense of the mistakes most of us make. Thank you!
What a great idea. I love that pattern book. I admit I became a bit of a floor loom snob and your videos have re-opened my eyes to the joy of rigid heddle weaving. I recently got a Cricket 10 inch loom and I am having so much fun with it. Thank you for your videos and inspiration.
i have this bookmarked so i can follow this journey! just now trying to learn double weave, and i see this as a perfect starting point. thank you!
A little ahead of my capabilities but looking forward to watching the rest. I also have the book. 👍👍👍
Love watching your videos! Thank you so much for doing this! ❤️
You're welcome! Thank you for letting me know!
Hi Amy, I was setting up to follow your hybrid warping videos, when I found this new adventure you plan to take. Thank you very much for sharing. I'm about a year into weaving, coming from a knitting & sewing background. Weaving seems the natural merger of the two. You're inspiring me to keep exploring, experimenting, and having fun.
When I weave complicated weaving on my rigid heddle loom, my weaving guild members ask me why. I tell them because I can. LOL I also have a Beka - 24"...since 1991. Weave On! I have 9 heddles - three of each so that I can weave 4-shaft weaves with three heddles at once.
Hi Amy, I'm really interested in this technique but I don't understand why heddle 3 comes before heddle 2. I need to watch more of your videos to hopefully understand this. Thank you!
Hello, looking forward to this as I have the same book to follow along with. You mention also another book - can you share the title please?
Yes, please let us know about Mr. Zanecka’s book. Thank you.
This is "The Xenakis Technique" by David Xenakis :)
@@biancaw.0306 Thank you!
Amy, how’s it going? I’ve been looking for an update on your progress. I am hopeful that you are successful and that you can share that success with us. I don’t want to have to purchase a 4 heddle floor loom after giving one away.
I'm new to weaving and watch alot of your vidéos. I made 2 looms (wood and 3d printing) and I have the same book but I don't understand how to use this book. For example: on page 31 the first wrap is it on the shaft 4 or 1? And for the weft ( the green and red example) the first weft is it the red at the bottom or the green at the top? I live in Québec and I buy my cotton at Maurice Brassard and I don't know witch size to buy, is she pass 3 threads of 2/16 in each heddle? . If I want to weave a placemat witch size of thread should I buy? Sorry for my English?
Hi Michou! Welcome to weaving! And how cool is that that you made two looms?!?!? This book is kinda like a stitch directory for knit or crochet. As I work thought it, I'll be explaining some of the parts of the book as we go. May do a video on the overview at some point. I don't have the book with me, and if I don't answer you now I may not get back to you for a while. But as far as I remember, all of the warps start on shaft 1. I don't remember seeing any exceptions but if there is I'll update my answer ;-) The pattern is read from bottom to top (in America we go from top to bottom but the other way makes more sense.) Lucky you! I need to order some cotton from them when they open ;-) For simplicity, I would just get the 2/16 or 16/2 (same thing) and triple it in the warp and weft. I haven't done this enough to start substituting things, yet ;-) You could possibly do a larger size but I don't know which size off the top of my head. I want to say 8/4 but don't hold me to it! Hope this helps!
@@AmyDMcKnight Thanks for your fast respond. It helps me a lot. wainting for your next video.
@@michousamuelson4094 You're welcome! Stay tuned ;-)
I've listened to this video, but You didn't start warping, because you ran out of time. Which video comes next?
