  • I'm frequently asked the following questions: How do I read a weaving draft? What is the relationship between two heddles on a rigid-heddle loom and a four-shaft floor loom? How can I tell which weaving draft I can use?
    The answers to these questions range from fairly straight forward explanations of how to read a draft to a lot of "it depends." In this video, I attempt to lay out these relationship in broad brush strokes.

      Thanks! Made my day. I'm working on a new book to help rigid-heddle weavers adapt material written for shaft loom weavers. It is taking forever, but I hope to have it out at the end of 2024.

    Awesome video, Liz! As a RH weaver who is in the process of learning to use my floor loom, this is excellent information about how the 2 relate!

      Thanks Barbara. Took me awhile to find my way into this one, but I'm happy with where I landed. So much to explore. One thing is for sure, we will never get bored!

    Where abouts are you in NM? I am in Los Lunas. South of Albuquerque. I belong to the Bobbin lace guild. We were in front of the weavers at the last fair. I spent time with them weaving. So much fun. I am trying to arrange to get my own Kromski RH loom. Glad I found you!!!

      I only post general resource videos here. I host an online school where I host more in-depth classes. www.yarnworkerschool.com There are other resources here on RUclips if you start searching that you may find help answer some of your questions. I have a list of resources on my website that you may find helpful, including other RUclipsrs. yarnworker.com/yarnworker-resources/I do have a new class coming out in 2022 that will have a broader look at this question.

    random question: how long does it take to set up the warp and then thread thru 4 heddles?

    • @Yarnworker
      @Yarnworker  2 года назад

      There are so many ifs that it is hard to say. Rigid-heddle weavers can use multiple set ups to achieve different weaves. They don’t typically use four heddles, but two are three are common. Depending on the threading and width of the project it can take me anywhere from 1-2 hours to set up the loom with multiple heddles.
