That breathy, tremulous, drawn-out "fine." I can only describe it as desirous, longing, savoring.. Very nice and unexpected. The whole thing though.. such a treat. I've heard him recite other things, too. I notice that he gives such careful thought to every single word. He doesn't just read a thing. He digests it, takes it apart, examines it, inhabits it, and becomes it in the recitation. That takes time, dedication, and a kind of perceptiveness.. Thorough, precise, deliberate...with a wealth of emotion to back it all up. Well-balanced, ratios just right. ....Recipe for authenticity. A great voice is nothing without the proper mind to wield it. He had both.
Being immaculate, impeccable and so well turned-out leaves nothing to be imagined, the turn of a waist, a wisp of hair falling on the face, is more enticing that everything neatly pinned in place.....
Disagree. I find him handsome - even more so as he got older. The look in the eyes, the way he moves, the shape of his mouth, the smile (or scowl) of any degree. I find him fascinating as an actor and a person. He said if people want to know who he is, it's in his work. But that could be analyzed in so many different ways, leading to too many potential conclusions. I know that no matter how much of his work I see, I'll still never know the mystery. There's always something in the eyes, a flicker of something real (but what that real thing is, who knows). Even in interviews, there's something unsaid there -- a whole lot going on. Privately, he would've been interesting for deep conversations -- I can tell that much. Either way, he was a talent and a delight to watch. That factors into his overall appeal for me. It all comes down to how one defines "handsome." In my opinion, it's too narrow a word though. Casual. Flimsy. Modern. How I view him, I'd describe him as beautiful (in many senses of the word)...as well as deep, introspective, intelligent, timeless...and intriguing as a human being in general. And my definition of beauty (for anything in this world) includes the imperfections, damage, and darkness. I like and prefer...facets and layers.
Lovely. How I miss Alan Rickman and his wonderful voice. May he be resting in peace.
Master Rickman...your reciting has such a hypnotic pull....I could listen to you forever!!
I bow to thee ... wherever you may be!!

Alan Rickman died on 14 January 2016, but I don't have to believe that if I don't want to. This is wonderful.

‘Wabi-Sabi’ is the Japanese philosophy of impermanence and imperfection.
This poem is a beautiful example of imperfection.

He certainly gets described as “handsome” enough….
