    Everyone knows how talented Rickman was, but the fact that nobody has a bad word to say about him is a TRUE legacy. That is what we should all strive for in this world. I do love his tight jaw, and the way he uses it. It feels like that stoic British reserve, but 100x more. It seems like he's constantly struggling to hold back an emotion, whether it be white hot rage, pain and longing, or even suppressing a smirk. You can tell that something is just bursting to come out, but the character is afraid to let it loose, in case he loses control. It adds so much depth to his characters. He took what God had given him, and used it like a boss!

    So many of content creators either don't know the meaning of 'underrated' or just abuse the word to get views. Rickman wasn't underrated. He was one of the most celebrated actors (and movie villains) during his lifetime and still is very much celebrated and appreciated today.

    • @OdeInWessex
      @OdeInWessex Год назад +12

      I think the Creator being American is commenting that he is 'underrated' in America. He NEVER was in the UK. I remember seeing him at the RSC in 1985 in As you Like it (I think) where he just stood in the middle of the stage and did the "All the world's a stage" speech and thinking "Who the hell is that!". he was utterly compelling and remained so throughout his career, regardless of the role he played and considering his peers (in career rather than age terms) were Daniel Day Lewis, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth and Tim Roth - that's saying something.

    • @ZombieWilfred
      @ZombieWilfred Год назад +5

      @@OdeInWessex Yes, the creator is clearly saying that he's underrated in America, since they titled it "HOLLYWOOD'S Underrated Villain..." But the person that you're replying to is saying that the creator is either wrong in that assessment or or titled it that just get people to chick on the video because the title is ridiculous and I'd have to agree. Here in the U.S. he is widely, practically unanimously, considered to have played one of the greatest villains in the history of cinema in Die Hard and people were praising him when that film premiered in 1988. It's pretty silly to say someone is underrated when they're considered one of the best of all time and have been since their first movie role...

      I agree. And it also irritated me a bit. Rickman was celebrated for his skill and range, and considering how famous he became as Snape he was probably the most celebrated he ever had been in recent years.
      And that is not even going into how many people will always remember him for Die Hard.
      It's true that there is a huge catalogue of films with him, that those who only know him for his "big" roles don't know about and many fantastic ones among those as well, but despite him never winning an Academy Award (which is a shame) he certainly wasn't underrated.

      That's just ugly gossip and isn't true. Costner has a reputation of being extremely generous and mentors younger actors.
      When he was filming The Bodyguard he visited the local elementary school and talked to the kids there. He also sat in on a rehearsal at my college drama department. We didn't know he was there until it was over. He told us to go for our dream and never let anyone stop us if we truly wanted it.
      Given his history and collaboration with Lawrence Kasdan I find it hard to believe that Kevin Costner would do such a thing.

I have quite a few DVD's in my collection/guilty pleasure films that Alan shines so prominently through. Especially his early work where every character is so unique and definitively Alan Rickman. He brought so much personality and heart to every single role.
      "There were five curtain calls. I was an actor once, damn it. Now look at me. Look at me! I won't go out there and say that stupid line one more time.”- "By Grabthar's hammer, by the sons of Warvan, I shall avenge you!"... Miss you Alan- Godspeed to the great Theater in the sky

      @@cozmicpfunk Well said... He's definitely a legend & an icon, whom we sadly lost too soon...
      After discovering a few more things about him, I grew to admire him even more (ie: his strong work ethics), esp after it was revealed that he died from pancreatic cancer b/c most people would stop working to focus on their treatments & recovery. I can't even begin to imagine the tremendous amount of excruciating pain he was feeling while working on set & in between his cancer treatment sessions. All the while, he continued to work without ever complaining (ensuring to complete his contractual acting obligations), yet he remained a kind & sweet gentleman amongst his fellow actors, directors, film crew/staff & towards his beloved fans.
      If ever a child, or anyone for that matter, is searching for a real & strong role model, rather than those social media influencers who only flaunts their materialistic belongings that hold no real value & who are here today but gone tomorrow, then that child or individual should look into Alan Rickman as a prime example for a role model in its truest form b/c there isn't a genuine person, esp one who knows him well that can speak badly about him. Furthermore, it is evident that he's loyal b/c he remained in the same long-term relationship with his college crush/wife until his very last day. Plus, he's extremely generous not just monetarily but also with his time. Part of that, he maintained his commitment to his charity organizations, which he donated part of the inheritance he left to them & the remainder to his wife & family siblings.

When Truly Madly Deeply came out i adored it and who knew it would help me last October when my husband also called Alan died. His voice, wow! Galaxy Quest is another fave of mine as is An awfully big adventure, the list is endless. RIP Mr Rickman, your so missed.

    What an incredible man! What an amazing life!! Yet, I still discovered so much during this documentary that I never knew beforehand. I was aware of the extreme diversity of the characters he played and his immense talent, but there was so much more to this man's life that will always leave me in awe. One of the most underrated performers of this era, yet one that I will never forget and be ever so grateful for being a witness to a career of such magnitude. I admired him for staying true to himself and for being the best that he could be. Those who are blessed with real talent, do not need to search for fame nor notoriety and are satisfied with completing the projects involved with, one by one. Alan didn't seek fame or a lavish lifestyle of riches, but was content with all that he had. It will always be those that we have relied upon to be there, that will be sadly missed now that they've gone. I tip my hat to you, dear Colonel Brandon, a true gentleman and a performer that will be forever greatly missed, but never forgotten.🇦🇺💖🕊

He would have been terrific in the roles of his plays. Good guy or bad guy. I liked him best in Galaxy Quest. Hope you get to see it! Funny and clever playing an actor playing a real alien on a real space ship. The best always! I do miss him.

      @@marvahuff635 Early on in his career he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, left and returned again later on. Alan was so talented he could take on any role and make it believable. Unfortunately, Galaxy Quest was one that escaped me but I'll definitely be keeping my eye out now. I'm always looking up actors when watching a movie and when watching Sense and Sensibility, I was shocked to think that the loveable Colonel Brandon was the comedic Sheriff of Nottingham and the 'bad guy' from Die Hard.
