Going to the lowering wand comment, he also never attacks AND deflects 2 of them into "fellow" death eaters. I'm wondering if Professor Mcgonagall ever picked up on this though as I would assume that they had been working together for 15+ years, she would know a lot about the ex-potions/ex-DA/headmaster. I felt so sad when in the last movie I realized how hard it must have been for Severus Snape. To act like he didn't care when he was heartbroken... I realized how hard his life must have been, and I thank Alan Rickman for bringing that amazing character to life. Thank you so much and R.I.P.
I cried big time when snape died in hallows part 2 and when you see flashbacks as to his true identity of protecting harry. Its devastating that such a talented man and a good person was taken from this world by cancer 😢
He arrived on our screens encased in solid ice, but he left our screens having forever melted our hearts with a glowing fire. He made us nervous, made us chuckle, made us raise our eyebrows, made us angry, even made us scared... but he left us with tears of sorrow, tears of joy, tears of gratitude, having reminded us all of our deepest human emotions. Alan... though you have departed, may your legacy stand the test of time.... forever.
i love how snape obviously didn't want to hurt anyone at Hogwarts. He looked very sad when killing Dombeldore, very apologetic when they were having a meeting with voldemort and a Hogwarts teacher was killed and even during this scene with McGonagall, he only defended himself but never attacked her and even attracked the fire she was throwing at him to kill the 2 death eaters behind him, never once attacking her. It really showed where his heart was even tho his past was a death eater ..
Goddamn, anytime I watch an interview with Alan Rickman, I have to hold back tears. When the first movie came out, I was only about 3-4 years old. Today, I’m 20 and I still watch these movies and read the books. Mr Rickman did something special for me and for a lot of people out there. He truly will not be forgotten. Rest In Peace, Professor.
I also cried when he died, but it wasn't the first time he'd made me cry, that was in the movie Truly Madly Deeply. If you haven't seen it you should, he was superb in it and also playing a man who despite the cost to him does the right thing.
+le2zruWtaR8DauQ3 we don't search these videos in order to be the first to comment "RIP". We search the videos because we're sad and we miss him. We express how we feel about this amazing person and actor. How's that a problem for you?
That is true; she did eventually confirm that she shared that secret before he joined the cast. Nevertheless, it's so heartwarming and bittersweet that he managed to keep his oath even after his death.
You watch that scene and you can see the mixed emotions in Snape. The anger that people think he is so evil to have betrayed Dumbledore, the courage he has to know that he is working to defeat Voldemort, and the anguish that he feels seeing Lily Potter’s eyes filled with hate for him never knowing he loved her. Alan Rickman was brilliant in the scene. Could anyone else have played that? I doubt it.
It's nice to get to know his personality a bit through this clip, to see the real man beneath the costume. He's actually very sweet, and he's been said to have a rather wicked sense of humor.
I really miss Alan Rickman. He was an incredible actor. I really believe they hit the jackpot when they chose him as the Severus Snape character in Harry Potter.
Actually I've read that as a teenager or young adult he fractured his jaw, or dislocated it, or some injury involving his jaw happened. And while it was healing, forced him to restrict the movement of his mouth so much, thus altering his voice and it's been this way ever since. And thank god for it!
I love the scene with McGonagal vs Snape. When she steps in front of Harry and Snape lowers his wand, the look of regret/sorrow on his face and the way he twists his wand, he didn’t want to fight her. He respected her and even probably considered her a “friend” (as much as Snape could consider someone a friend). Notice he never fights back. He defends himself and flees. I think he knew if he dueled her he’d kill her, I believe he was that strong, but that’s not what he wanted to do. So he fled. That’s one of my very favourite scenes in any HP movie. And Alan Rickman played it so perfectly. He was the most perfect person to play Snape. And by the third book I knew there was SOMETHING about Snape that we didn’t know. He was more than just a bully and death eater. I didn’t know what, but I knew it was something (I thought he might actually be Harry’s dad).
He still looks like snape for me , i mean most of actors when seeing them in interview they look very different from the movie , but Alan Rickman is very special.
I wasn't familiar with any of the actors/actresses before Harry Potter, (I probably can't watch any of the other movie they're in), and I don't know all the cast's names/what they look like. But it was the opposite for me. I can recognize everyone else by looks, but the only way I recognized Snape in him was his voice/a tiny bit in his face...
I don't think anyone else could have portrayed a more perfect Snape than Alan did. He made my favorite character stand out even more (and admit it, who doesn't want to listen to that voice for hours?)
I saw AR in a Broadway play "Private Lives" in 2002. His voice is even more beautiful and expressive than on screen. He's also more handsome in person and had impeccable comic timing. I met him at the stage and he was so gracious. He was quickly surrounded by children and he was incredibly patient and charming with them. A true gentleman.
That voice; no one else could have possibly done it better, nor sounded just as you heard it in your head while reading the books. He was magnificent! Thank you, Mr. Rickman, for sharing your talent with the world. You are greatly missed. RIP
agreed; I was 12yo when Robinhood was released in theaters & Rickman’s character TERRIFIED me, I despised the “Sheriff of Nottingham.” I imagine he had the same effect on viewers from the Harry Potter generation. He was so uniquely talented, you can identify him instantly upon hearing his voice. RIP Alan Rickman❤️
I just love the eccentric, enunciated way that Rickman spoke his lines. It was brilliant! His drawled delivery, and punctuated emphasis of Harry's name, and his last name, just means business. Alan was terrific.
You will never be forgotten Alan. Amazing human being and actor. Such a sad week. First Bowie now another huge British legend. People who many thought they would meet usuallydie so quickly. Both were so private. no one even knew he was ill. I hate cancer so much. You will live on in your movies. RIP
He is a God amongst men. He is the most addicting human I’ve ever seen. I met him once (briefly) and spent the 2 hours he talked in a complete trance. I saw him from afar a few times, and I swear, there’s no other person in the world who has this aura and essence that just draws you in. His voice, his energy, his eyes, the way he walks into a room and demands your full attention. I never knew him, but I miss him.
I ADORE the fact that, in that monologue, Alan is walking a perfect line of double agent. What he says sounds completely threatening, but the words themselves could be taken to mean that absolutely nothing will happen to the perpetrators because he gives their actions no weight, being on the side of good as he is. A perfectly Slytherin delivery. The only one to notice what he's doing is Slughorn.
That WAS the best scene, and I've never seen a scene that made rewatching a movie more rewarding. When I first saw that scene, I thought: Wow, McGonagall is a boss, defeating Snape and two death eaters. After rewatching: WTH, Snape was just defending, knocking out two death eaters by the deflections and then got away unscathed.
I think Snape had alot more power, than we could ever see in the movies. Btw I love this scene so much too. The emotions, the movements, how he just blocks her shots n not fighting back bc he knows hes stronger and the pain in his eyes loosing it all, hits on another level. Alan Rickman really did a spectacular job as Severus Snape!
I'm in love with Alan Rickman as Severus Snape. Between that SEXY voice, with the British accent, and the long black hair (I'm a Hippie), I'm a Goner. So Sorry you had to leave us! You are SO missed. ALWAYS.
I think his greatest performance in HP was the inconsolable agony he expressed when finding and clutching Lily's lifeless body closely followed by the utter pathos of his death scene. Magnificent.
If only there was a way they could have continued Snape's story line indefinitely....knowing the dedication of Mr. Alan Rickman, he would have refused to die, in order to continue in the role of Snape.
It's hard to overstate how amazing he was in this role, how much of himself he added to it. This scene in particular is so powerful. You can see in his face the moment Minerva steps up, how he would never ever want to do her harm, and not only is he so strong he deflects her attacks INTO the death eaters standing behind him, no looking, and before they could react. 10 out of 10.
The funny thing about Snapes character is that from the first movie you kind of knew he was a decent guy because he was doing the counter curses to save Harry from the cursed Broom. Yet between 6 other movies its easy to forget that. For me even without seeing the last movie I knew something was up because he was always doing things to prepare or protect Harry and other students.
his answer to the last question is so perfect ... it shows how much he was interested in the part from the start ... when he said yes for the first one he was ready to go all the way with it and wasnt going to let anything stop him ... THAT is what made alan rickman so special as an actor ... when he said yes you knew he meant yes 100% ... and that he would give his best at all times ... THAT is a STAR
I had a long, stressful, weekend at work, and this video caused me to break down in tears. Between Snape's storyline, Rickman's death, and listening to this interview... if anyone walks in on me right now they would for sure think that I had just received some devastating news. I'm 46 years old, BTW.
I don’t understand why Snape was scary to some people. I always loved him. From the very beginning. He was the most interesting and enigmatic and fascinating character in the entire films. Every time he was on screen, he smoldered. I knew he was tortured, tragic, yet he had goodness in him. Long before the movies revealed just that. I could see it in him. A kind of simmering power and great burden of soul but also good yet tortured and very, very smart. And much more than met the eye. Yet GOOD. No one, NO ONE believed me. Until the very end. Thank you Mr. Rickman for such an iconic, unbelievably incredible performance and playing a character that no one could have gotten exactly right but you. You will be forever missed, and always loved, and always my favorite Harry Potter character. Always. ❤️
You never read the books, did you? He was unjustifiably nasty and unfair in the books to all students (save those in Slytherin), not just Harry, and there are several scenes that are either cut completely from the movies are modified such that they don't carry the full impact of how awful he's really supposed to be or how untrustworthy we're supposed to think he is until we finally see his memories that prove his loyalties at the end of book 7. Best example off the top of my head of such modification is in book 6 during the scene when Narcissa went to Snape to ask his help for Draco's sake. In the movie, that scene was just about getting his help, but in the book, Snape gave an answer to every instance of questionable loyalty (to Bellatrix who was distrustful of him) including: why Snape never sought out Voldemort after his fall, why Snape prevented Voldemort from stealing the Philosopher's Stone, why Snape didn't come immediately to Voldemort's side when he was first summoned after his rebirth, why Snape didn't help fight at the Ministry, and why Harry was still alive after having been at Hogwarts near Snape for five years. In hindsight, we know his answers were the lies he used to stay in Voldemort's good graces to be an effective spy, but at the time of reading, we did not have any idea if these were lies or truths because we didn't know why Dumbledore was so certain that Snape was trustworthy.
It's sad knowing Richard Harris didn't want anybody else to play Dumbledore in the next films as he was lying ill in the hospital and Chris Columbus assured him that wouldn't happen. If only we could have seen how he would have pulled off showing Dumbledore as the mighty wizard we hadn't seen him as and how he portrayed his final scenes of vulnerability. It's fortunate Rickman made it through all those years to finish Snape but he's truly missed all the same.
Alan Rickman did other movies and was awesome on all of his roles. The role of Snape shows the full spectrum of his range and talents. Yes - gone too soon and so very much missed.

You've been raising him for a pig for slaughter

I felt so sad when in the last movie I realized how hard it must have been for Severus Snape. To act like he didn't care when he was heartbroken... I realized how hard his life must have been, and I thank Alan Rickman for bringing that amazing character to life. Thank you so much and R.I.P.
that voice! just like liquid velvet......................i could listen to him speak endlessly
I cried big time when snape died in hallows part 2 and when you see flashbacks as to his true identity of protecting harry. Its devastating that such a talented man and a good person was taken from this world by cancer 😢
So true! Snape death hits even harder when u know Alan R. died too...
Yes , he protected Harry from shadows without taking any credit,
I didn’t even know he died. 😔
I silently sob during that scene.
Alan... though you have departed, may your legacy stand the test of time.... forever.
oh..dear words... :'( so many broken hearts. Rest in Bliss Alan.

This comment is amazing
beautifully put! 😢
i love how snape obviously didn't want to hurt anyone at Hogwarts.
Same, him and David bowie are two celebrities I actually cry over even tho I never met them. But they always transcended screens and music.
I also cried when he died, but it wasn't the first time he'd made me cry, that was in the movie Truly Madly Deeply. If you haven't seen it you should, he was superb in it and also playing a man who despite the cost to him does the right thing.
Please watch Die Hard. His "ladies & gentlemennnn" forever rewrote how a villain can & should behave. He epitomized the gentleman villain!
Please call him “Sir” ❤️ then turn to page 394

Why did he have to go so soon? and did anyone here about that terrible Joke that Some guy named Jon snow said about Alan Rickman. Not funny at all.
2:14 This breaks my heart, even though it's so wonderful. He truly kept his promise, and took the secret to his grave.
R.I.P. Alan Rickman
well I think that Jo just told him that Snape loved Lily....that would be a crucial piece of information
That is true; she did eventually confirm that she shared that secret before he joined the cast.
Nevertheless, it's so heartwarming and bittersweet that he managed to keep his oath even after his death.
Legion Ivory He did keep the promise but JK did tell eventually, she told him that Snape was in love with Lily
Legion Ivory hearing that gave me goosebumps, it's just like his character, who kept up the secret of his love
I think i saw somewhere that piece of information... Talks about Snape having a complex heart or something, if i found it i will send it

I doubt it.
His voice. I could listen to his voice forever. Even if he read out a grocery list I would listen in awe.
Yeah he actually sounds a lot like his character.
Imagine this man on your everyday GPS. "Turn right in 100 feet. Use the headlights you blubbering idiot."
This would be great
How incredibly like your father you are. He would've missed the u-turn too
I would marry my gps then😊
I'm laughing and crying. Holy fuck I miss Alan!!

To me Snape has always been and will always be the real hero of Harry Potter series ☺
Me too 💔💔
Always.❤
He was really “up to something” the whole series
@@tarakmax3620 🤣 good one
Yeah severus potter was the obvious perfect ending i liked it
It's nice to get to know his personality a bit through this clip, to see the real man beneath the costume. He's actually very sweet, and he's been said to have a rather wicked sense of humor.
did you notice how snape cleverly deflects Mcgonagall's spell right at both Death Eaters behind him?
I've read that was done on purpose so they wouldn't hurt anyone after he left.
Amazing
Omg...I've never noticed before! Thanks for pointing that out
OMG REALLY???? gotta go back and watch it again
Yes... it was quite obvious
Harry Potter said it best. "The bravest man he ever knew". RIP Mr. Rickman.
What an actor and what a voice! Unforgettable
fascinating how he thought of snape as emotionally all buttoned up...
Yes, i thought the same, he sould have been very profound as an actor building his character
yeah, cool, Russian literature sort of stuff
I really miss Alan Rickman. He was an incredible actor. I really believe they hit the jackpot when they chose him as the Severus Snape character in Harry Potter.
The absolute KING of Dramatic Diction. WOW. He was just so delicious, that voice.
i think i just fell in love with the voice of a 69-year-old i
didn't we all?
Caitlin Kaulitz And I am crying about it. God that was hot.
Nope dear. We share the same thoughts.
I'm crazier than you all, i fell in love with a man who's 30years older than me just because he look exactly like snape 😍
aurora felicity playing a 38 year old man.
Fantastic.Brilliant actor.
I miss him even today. 5 years without him.
RIP Severus Snape
RIP Alan Rickman
That voice O.O how does one have that voice?
Actually I've read that as a teenager or young adult he fractured his jaw, or dislocated it, or some injury involving his jaw happened. And while it was healing, forced him to restrict the movement of his mouth so much, thus altering his voice and it's been this way ever since.
And thank god for it!
It's not cigarettes. He just has a low voice with a lot of vibrato.
Turn to like 394 !!! Your welcome!!
„Gosh... spoiling the plot“
I‘m so dead😂😂
"It may have escaped your notice but life isn't fair." So very true, Alan Rickman was taken from us much to soon, and is sorely missed. RIP Alan
He was born to play Snape! :)

He didnt just defend himself, he took out the 2 deatheaters standing behind by deflecting McGonagall's spells. That was the true magic.
He was NOT a bully! Since the first movie he was trying to protect! Please correct what you wrote
@@l0wbattery429 Please kindly SHUT THE FUCK UP. Thank you! And yes Snape was a bully.

@@greyLeicester Thank you. Lol.
his voice just reverberates down your body 🙌🙌
I think it was vital for Rickman to know Snape's secret.
In all probability, that one information was that Snape had loved Lily Evans.
It’s always such a delight to hear this man speak. His work will forever bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses.
Raouf Kakashi thats truuueeeee i still like snape is talking now.

@MelissaKing That's a very sweet story and image. (11/1/2021)
snape was my favorite character.. rest in peace professor
That voice; no one else could have possibly done it better, nor sounded just as you heard it in your head while reading the books. He was magnificent! Thank you, Mr. Rickman, for sharing your talent with the world. You are greatly missed. RIP
Possibly Jeremy Irons...
We all loved him as Snape...but Mr. Rickman was the best Sherriff of Nottingham ever.
agreed; I was 12yo when Robinhood was released in theaters & Rickman’s character TERRIFIED me, I despised the “Sheriff of Nottingham.” I imagine he had the same effect on viewers from the Harry Potter generation. He was so uniquely talented, you can identify him instantly upon hearing his voice.
RIP Alan Rickman❤️
no one else could have made "because it will hurt!" not sound stupid stupid
@DavidCutwater "You! My room, three-thirty! You! Three forty-five! Bring a friend!" (11/1/2021)
And he was brilliant as Obadiah Slope in The Barchester Chronicles. That’s the role that made me know he’d be the perfect Snape.
@@madamedemonsieur Agreed, he was perfect in that role. He made a menacing Rasputin as well. Well worth a watch if you get the chance.
"She can arch an eyebrow like nobody else" 😂😂
One of my favourite lines from Snape was:
"Turn to page three hundred and nine-ty four"
- Snape
His voice acting and persona had and still has” The power to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses”. Not forgotten.
oh I miss Alan Rickman so much. for ALL his roles - not just this.
he was the *perfect* Snape.
RIP
so damn true :(
+Coco Pops I believe he didn't find out himself till last Christmas that he was actually terminally ill.
Woutah2dmaX How sad. Pancreatic spreads fast and will usually kill.. Patrick swayze had it too but survived for 18 months I think.
He was the only character in the movies that was better than what was written in the books.
I would say Umbridge is better portrayed in the movie. Imelda Staunton did a wonderful job with her.
Jason Isaacs aka Lucius Malfoy too
Rickman must've made an unbreakable vow to Rowling

How old r you? You dont seem to understand the context.
In another interview J. K. Rolling confirmed that she told Alan that Snape loved Lilly all his life.
Snape also took the deatheaters wands just before escaping through the window
@@bxpress6507 I DIDNT EVEN NOTICE THIS OR THE ORIGINAL COMMENT OF HIM KNOCKING THEM OUT WTFFFF man this makes me love him even more

Oh man. I remember crying on the day I found out that Alan Rickman died. A man I never met but loved in a fantasy series.
I think his greatest performance in HP was the inconsolable agony he expressed when finding and clutching Lily's lifeless body closely followed by the utter pathos of his death scene. Magnificent.

The last response was so beautiful---"I wasn't going to let anyone finish that story. " Truly miss you Alan Rickman.

I never noticed that. !
Still hard to believe he's gone.
RIP Alan Rickman
You were the perfect Professor Snape :')
8:23 Love this Alan-Maggie Smith moment so much ❤️😍 two ICONS
his answer to the last question is so perfect ... it shows how much he was interested in the part from the start ... when he said yes for the first one he was ready to go all the way with it and wasnt going to let anything stop him ...
Always. ❤️
Snape was way more of an asshole in the books. They turned him down a notch in the films
Same. He’s always been my favorite character from the beginning.
All credit to Rowling who brought out the nature of the character which Rickman encapsulated so well.
Personally Snape is my favorite character from any movie that I have ever watched and Alan is a national treasure R.I.P Mr.Rickman.......
