How to Make Belizean Black Dinna | Chimole | Black Soup

  • I’m finally sharing my very highly requested Belizean Black Dinna recipe. If you are not familiar with this soup the color might throw you off but once you taste it you’ll be wondering where this soup has been all your life. I know everyone has their own way of making it, let me know in the comments how you make yours?

    👩🏻‍🍳 BELIZEAN BLACK DINNA/CHIMOLE/BLACK SOUP
    3 ½ pounds of chicken
    1 tablespoon Badia Complete Seasoning
    1 tablespoon Malher Consomé De Pollo
    1 teaspoon black pepper
    ¼ cup onion, chopped
    3 cloves garlic, chopped
    8 cups water
    ¼ cup black recado, dissolved in water
    1 packet (2.11 oz) Maggi soup (chicken flavored noodle soup mix)
    ¼ cup cilantro, chopped
    ¼ cup culantro, chopped
    1 can (7 oz) pickled jalapenos, remove the jalapenos
    1 ½ pounds potatoes
    9 boiled eggs
    2 roma tomatoes, chopped

    I was afraid to try this dish because of the color..it look like Belize city kinnel wata🤣😁. But a trusted friend made some for me not knowing I didn't eat it. I didn't want her hard work to go to waste so I tried it. It is really good. Thank for sharing. I can now make my own.

    I brought back so much black recado from Belize 2 months ago… guess I know how I’m gonna use it. Ur right, the color is a little different looking, but my sons and I are adventurous eaters so I’m sure we’ll love it .

    I have never used Maggie soup nor culantro for this dish. I did use consome tho. I will definitely try this recipe with this cozy weather in Belize. It just looks nice. Thank you

    I have been making this for a while , but have never made it this way. Looks good , I will have to try it this way and see how it taste . One thing I was taught is to strain the black recado when you are putting it in the pot so it doesn’t have that grainy texture. Anyways, now I’m hungry for chimole! Thank you for the video ☺️

    Never tired of black dinner.the recado makes a difference.i got some regular ones and some really spicy ones that will make you holler.but black dinner done right is as good as any soup out there .a bowl of that is what i want right now.

      The only black recado I tried so far is the one I used in the video. It's not spicy to me but I would love to try a spicy one. Which brand is the spicy one?

      I have to check.my nephew sent it for us.but my sister tried it in the black dinner and it was pretty good but too spice for some in the fsmily .but it was nothing for me.he also sent a soicy red recado

    Keep up the good work.good choice of foods.i tried strawberry shortcake years ago but i dont recall if i was fond of it but i know the combo of ingredients is great together.some strawberries sour n little sugar would be good on top

    Can you only make this with the solid black recardo or can you use the powdered black recardo also?

      I've never seen or tried the powdered black recado before. I didn't even know they make that. I'm sure you can use it though.
