- Ichigo Kurosaki’s TRUE SHIKAI is revealed during the Thousand Year Blood War arc of BLEACH. In this video I want to focus on the impactful dual bladed Shikai that Ichigo awakens after Old Man Zangetsu releases the limits on his power, and after Nimaiya the creator of the zanpakuto personally reforges his zanpakuto for him.

Zangetsu is sort of like Ichigo's wild and dark side that he refused to even acknowledge for the longest time up until the Dangai arc where he finally embraces this side of him after supressing it for too long. This final trial made him realize his full potential utilizing his will to protect as well as his acceptance that he too has a wild and violent and possibly destructive side.
This narrative all fits well into Jung's concept of the Shadow imo.

@@aryansharma3083 Canonically, Zangetsu is the spirit known as White. Old Man Z is the embodiment of his Quincy powers. It gets really confusing later on, but that's the general gist of it.
This is honestly my favorite of Ichigo's forms and blades. His fight with the 8 Sternritter was among my favorite for just how well it demonstrated his new Shikai.
Its one of my favs in terms of power and all that but in terms of cosmetics. Ive always veen a huge fan of the simple "butcher knife" look.

Ichigo in true shikai with horn of salvation was capable of killing sk yhwach which is why he had to use almighty to make sure ichigo didn't catch him off guard, ichigos bankai must be pretty impressive if yheach didn't even want to fight against it.
'Everything but the rain' arc in particular was one of the biggest reason I was able to get up & move forward. This arc turned me from a Suicidal kid to a work horse. I fell in love with Ichigo after this.

Turns out that byakuya’s suspicion about ichigo’s false bankai was true, no wonder why he felt something different about it and said “that move is not bankai” but rather similar to uryu’s hirenkyaku when ichigo went so fast at him with blade pointed on byakuya’s thoat. I think that false bankai was similar to uryu’s technique, and also his outfit is similar to old man zangetsu after transforming. His uniqueness is just amazing, he is a a proud soul reaper with quincy powers and protects like a badass hollow. There’s also no wonder why he was trained by old man zangetsu not for achieving his true powers but to build his strength, stamina, endurance, and focus to enhance his fighting ability. I can’t imagine how powerful he was already without using his true powers. Has a very strong inner hollow powers, and a quincy, and even much more powerful when combined together, it’s like uryu’s ability hirenkyaku(if ichigo uses it) enhanced by hollowfication plus his soul reaper powers is just OP in the 1st place. Man! I wonder if he uses flash step, hirenkyaku, and sonido at the same time while in his true bankai form! LOL, dude has so many options and so OP😂😂 not to mention his fullbring powers. It’s just funny that he didn’t use bankai until now and defeated top espadas without using true powers, I wonder if aizen knew that it was a false bankai ichigo was using this whole time. I’m glad I haven’t read the manga otherwise, it would be boring because it’s like watching the anime just to see the difference between manga and anime, watching anime is more interesting when you haven’t read the manga.
I love the analogy that each of Ichigo's transformations are "stepping stones" in his character. I grew up with Bleach, literally starting Bleach at Ichigo's age. I can comfortably say that in my 20s when Bleach ended I did not understand Ichigo's many transformations. But as I've aged and matured, I can clearly see that each transformation came at a critical moment in his character development and that each of those stages are a part of every person's development too.
Bleach is incredibly introspective and is no surprise when a character understands a hidden part of their "soul" it directly translates to a boost in power. This is reflected in personal development. What is the first step in personal growth? Know thyself. Only then can you grow and overcome the lies you tell yourself that stunt and hold you back.
Moving briefly to Ichigo's true bankai's ability - it's the power to cut fate itself. It's been brought up that in the first chapter's poem about Ichigo he wants the ability to cut fate because it is heartbreaking to see the injustice in the world and just chalk it up to "fate" - meaning you don't have the power to protect and save someone. How does this translate to Bleach's power system? His Bankai cuts hack abilities. That is why Juha Bach broke it before he could use it.
Ichigo's shikai - using the full abilities of all the major powers in the Bleach universe (Shinigami, Quincy, Fullbring, and Hollow)
Ichigo's bankai - combining all those powers into one blade that can cut through anything including "fate". It is the ultimate negator housed in a blade.
EDIT: After thinking about it, I don't think the bankai is a true negator otherwise the quicksilver arrow would be redundant and Juha would not have been able to reverse his death with the Almighty. I think it is a blade that can pretty much kill anything in the Bleach universe though hoping the theorized "cut fate" foreshadowing is made more tangible in the anime.
I read fully but yes the power to cut/change fate is just a theory because his bankai has technically been broken both times he used it so its hard tos et in stone and i do really hope we get more shown and explained of his bankai
@@ghostridernz17 Indeed, I believe his shikai is well established in the final arc but not his bankai. I thought about it some more and propose this: we know a Shinigami's bankai can not deviate from their shikai and Kubo often turns a concept into tangible power e.g. "turning children's games into reality", so it is a theory for the blade to cut fate that we can hopefully see made tangible.
I don't think it means the bankai is immune to other abilities interfering with it. A Shinigami's core power is to draw from within and actualize their soul's energy into a tangible weapon. Ichigo literally draws the powers of his ancestry into a blade and his bankai combines and balances those opposite energies (quincy vs. hollow, human vs. Shinigami) into a "final" blade.
Often, shonen showcases this power as the power to reduce something to zero (think Gogo's Purple: Hollow ability from JJK) thus Ichigo's blade can cut and damage anything in bankai but still limited to a blade. It can kill transcendent beings without losing his powers like he did with the FGT (my theory).
I really hope they properly showcase his power in the finale of the bleach anime

@@Kenpachi_Zaraki_0001 I can't find the exact source online. They are little poems that Kubo wrote throughout the series that I did not know existed till watching this channel. DBZImran has referred to Ichigo's character poem in his character analysis videos about Ichigo. I would check that out. But TLDR - the poem is about if life is nothing but a bunch of cogs and gears to grind the powerless then I desire a sword to cut those gears (paraphrasing from my memory). Check out the analysis videos about Ichigo with DBAImran he talks about it and quotes it.
Probably my favorite form of Ichigo alongside Dangai.
Zangetsu (not old man ywach) really did mean every word when he was controlling his hollow when he said”how can u get close to your zanpakto when u only know its name and when he said i am zangetsu” he just wanted ichigo to live and achieve his goals but accept himself its like ichigo was ashamed of him and he just wanted to be noticed by the person who is him i love the foreshadowing kubo did and how it was executed it was beautiful in the anime and the manga
This is why bleach has become my favorite series while kubo isnt perfect he thinks things out other mangaka just come up with as the manga goes along while he def did this but u can see alot of things was set up for later and actually is way deeper than u may presume
Like simple things as ichigo stealing all rukias powers make sense because u find out he is part quincy so he can dominate reishi. its truly mind blowing how kubo made ichigo so relatable and made him so different from other shonen characters he feels so unique and his blades make him more unique as he now the 3rd shinigami to have dual swords overall ichigo is him and i love that bleach is finally seen fore it’s amazingness it always had

I love the true shikai design and hope it gets more screen time in the anime. I was a bit disappointed when I saw the Zanpakuto revert to it's og design in the Hell One Shot. I know Kubo already said Ichigo can switch back and forth between those forms, but it still sucks that we wont see him carry those two in his base form.
I kind of think as the original Shikai as his version of a sealed state now, with the dual blades being the equivalent of actual Shikai.

My theory on Ichigo is he never was a shinigami at the first place. His power which derive from white hollow and yhwach's quincy soul mimic Isshin's Engetsu. Hence, the name Zangetsu.
But later during division 0 he gain his true shinigami power, so with his true shikai and bankai.
Ichigo technically has two forms of shinigami powers. Since white was a dead shinigami turned hollow and isshin was a squad captain.

His quincy powers are now a part of his shinigami powers. The smaller blade represents his quincy/shinigami powers. Getsuga Tensho is a shinigami technique. I think a lot of people miss the fact that after Ichigo accepted OMZ as Zangetsu, his quincy powers merged with his shinigami powers.

@@darkshadowxxify It can't just be Quincy. He has a zanpakuto. Shinigami have zanpakutos. One represents his hollow/shinigami and one represents his quincy/shinigami powers. If what you said is true, he wouldn't be able to do getsuga tensho with the quincy blade because getsuga tensho is a shinigami technique he inherited from Isshin.

It would be cool if in true bankai mode he would still have 2 weapons. Maybe his hollow/shinigami blade turns into a thinner sword while the quincy sword turns into an crossbow.
The opening already foreshadowed Ichigo's double swords. I'm still a fan of the traditional fight with just one long katana

The only thing I don't get about the Kurosaki siblings is, did White just get inherited by Ichigo? Karin and Yuzu are still both Soul Reaper and Quincy just like their brother, but I don't know if the hollow would transfer to them as well. Karin obviously has some power, and it's a shame the girls never get much of a spotlight.
I believe White passed down into Ichigo only as he was the first born, remember, White's purpose was to take over and be the source of one's Shinigami Powers/Zanpakutou. Why stay in Masaki when he can move on into an actual born Shinigami that being Ichigo.

FINALLLY!!!!! Somebody actually explained all my questions in the simplest form. I have a full grasp of Ichigo powers now. The writer of the manga and anime Bleach doesn't explains Ichigo powers well {At least for me}.
because the author didn't really have time to fully develop Ichigo, he focused on too many characters in the last arc and pretty much ignored his main character, if you followed the story's last arc Ichigo was pretty much a copy paste of his debut, same steps and end up with more questions then aswers

The problem the writer has is that a zonpakto pummel can have a soul move on and ichigo has used his pummel for this purpose. Meaning it was a zonpakto not a false sword but I bet the writer forgot that. Quincy powers when used to kill a hallow or release a spirit kill it.

The part where you said the smaller blade is only his Quincy power is wrong. Zangetsu's ability is Getsuga Tenshou and a blade without Ichigo's Shinigami powers cannot use it, as Tsikishima commented that Ichigo's Shinigami powers must be merged with his Fullbring powers after he used it. Therefore, *both* blades have Ichigo's Shinigami powers imprinted on them.

True Shikai. By far.
Actually, two blades are a sheath and a sword of sealed Zangetsu, according to Mr. Kubo himself. His Shikai is not what Oetsu Nimaiya forged, but the blade that struck down Yhwach, emerged from his broken bankai.
The forms of Ichigo's Zanpakuto Zangetsu are:
1st: Two Blades, which is his base form, and true appearance of the blade we have seen in Substitute Shinigami ark all those years ago.
2nd: True Zangetsu - A classic Ichigo's Shikai with which he went through entire series and caused Yhwach's demise as he or rather Haschwalt envisioned via The Allmighty. And of corse, as Mr.Kubo stated, Ichigo can freely choose whether to use dual wielding in battle, or his Shikai as any shinigami can as well.
3rd: Tensa Zangetsu - a giant black'n'white sword with chain, which was shown to us only in one panel - the exact one it was broken by Yhwach's The Allmighty in. After it was seemingly repaired by Tsukishima, Ichigo used his Shikai, disguised as his bankai by white coating that can be easily broken. In bankai coating is the solid part of the blade, so it can't be broken of the blade 'cause it is the edge of it.
Constant realise zanpakuto's were only a fan theory, which used the idea of Byakuya and Toshiro about Zangetsu and Nozarashi. But as Byakuya himself stated he was wrong in both of their cases. Thus Constant Release zanpakuto are non-existent.
Ok this i can understand and get behind but there is something im doubtful of. If the the dual blades are just his swords and not shikai, how can he use Getsuga Tensho which is a shikai exclusive ability, ik some zanpakuto dont always change completely when going shikai but we saw Ichigo true shikai which is the Kyber Knife one soo yea the 2 blades being just a sword and scabbard idk seems like they are his Shikai which can combine into his true Zangetsu, plus he went straight into Bankai without at least going Shikai
@@theeclipse5697 first of all, Getsuga is not zanpakuto ability, it's zanpakuto technique.
Abilities are unique, techniques are not. Basically anyone can learn to fire Getsuga, but it must be Shiba's secret technique as well as Final Getsuga Tensho.
Example of difference between ability and technique: Yamamoto's Ryujinn Jakka' ability is Fire(creation, control etc.), Jokaku Enjo, Nadegiri, Ennetsu Jigoku - are Ryujinn Jakka's techniques - different ways to apply ability for battle.
Zangetsu's ability is compression of Ichigo's reiatsu in such a degree, that even being far weaker than Kenpachi(before Zaraki subconsciously adjusted his reiatsu level to match Ichigo's) he is able to actually pierce his passive reiatsu barrier.
There are three characters, who uses Getsuga in every battle: Ichigo, Isshin and Kugo. Zanpakuto abilities are unique, so they cannot be inherited or passed to others in other ways, but techniques - can be.

I got into Bleach in my late teens and it became a guilty pleasure of mine. Not the highest quality show, but it certainly does filled my desire for epic hero battles... I stopped reading the manga shortly after (or maybe even just as) the two bladed form was showcased because, well, I caught up with the release schedule and there wasn't anything more to be read 😅 I decided to take a break and wait for more content to be released and somehow I never returned back to it. I don't even know how much content there is after that, I only vaguely remember the Quincy invasion of Soul Palace, and that's only because I just read up on the synopsis...
Small correction. He is a Quincy Hollow hybrid with Shinigami powers. But he himself is not technically shinigami.

I mean, if you think about it, Ichigo never really fully unlock his full power, his real bankai is still a mystery, what exactly is the power level, to force a character that was the closest to being a god in bleach verse to break it over and over again because it was too dangerous is something and this if we assume that was the full extend of Ichigo powers

Hey I got a question, if Ichigo can go Vasto Lorde then technically could he go Arrancar with the help of the Hogyoku? Now ik that's ridiculous but I believe with what the guy was saying before he was technically just a soul that had really cool powers and not a soul reaper, so if the Hogyoku was put in the center of his Vaste Lorde hole what would that ultimately do? We see that's how the Vasto Lorde turn to a Arrancar (plus the mask and sword thing).
Hogyoku+ Ichigo potential would mean a very very OP character with no equal and pretty much a boring story as no character could have scratched him, Hogyoku is more hax then Ichigo himself, having that inside him is a cheat code

I wonder if Ichigo's zanpakuto is always in released form because he never had a physical one, the one which was handed to shinigami at the academy. In other means, his zanpakuto is always a manifestation of his shinigami powers.
I think he isn't constantly in shikai anymore, like when ichigo uses a base zangetsu to crush hell hollows later on. Juat like byakuya once states that maybe the constant release zanpacto never existed

Judging from what I’ve seen in manga art (never read it yet) in the TYBW it looks as if ichigo lost his full bring markings after fighting The Quinn y king the first time. Do you know why this is? Why doesn’t he retain them because they were supposed to have fused with his Soul reaper powers?

I *really* hope this *isn't* his true Shikai form, because his *supposed* "true Bankai" form really freaking sucks. It just, *isn't* Ichigo. Kubo still has time to change it, he could say that this form is actually the sealed form of his Zanpakutou, and his current "true Bankai form" could actually just be his Shikai again. I'd have no problem with that, that'd be freaking cool.
And, it'd open Kubo up to further storytelling with Ichigo.
Honestly, his true Bankai form; should be a Quincy/Stark like gun in his left hand, with a chain attached to the bottom of the grip; with a new version of his regular Bankai blade in his right hand. Perhaps the chains could go up his arms like the final Getsuga form. Maybe, attach to each other across the back of the neck? Point is, it'd really suck if Kubo doesn't change things in the anime...
his 'true' shinkai is his horn form, maybe we get more with the anime as manga version of Ichigo was not really finish from a story point of view, either Kubo had no idea wtf to do with Ichigo or simple he had no time

I still think that his true shikai is his old shikai. And now the only enigma is his bankai since in the end of the saga he revealed his old blade out of tensa Zangetsu, and then nothing.
After Ichigo had his Hollow and Quincy powers absorbed by Yhwach, the outer white portion broke during his final battle with the Quincy Emperor to reveal the original form of Ichigo's Shikai, Zangetsu, underneath, due to his Shinigami powers being the only source of power remaining within him at the time.

@@Muzan_jack251 The novel confirms that Ichigo regained his full powers days after Yhwach was defeated. also what yhwach absorb is ichigo's reiryoku only, it's like when someone stabs you with a knife then you will lose alot of blood but eventually regain it again if your wound is healed already.

I have a feeling the reason his sword goes back to the original form is due to his now having enough control to seal his blade instead of it always being in shikai

Hot take, maybe. I never liked the dual swords as Ichigo's Shikai and I was hoping to find out that since this was his True Sword, this was actually the unreleased form. Since one blade is his Quincy powers and the other is his Shinigami/Hollow powers. They are separate and his Shikai is to combine the two blades, and by extension his power sets. And yes, "Bleach, Zangetsu" was the call.
As for his Bankai, I was hoping that it was once again a compression of his power to the point that he doesnt even wield a sword, he is the sword. He takes on a form similar to his Vasto Lordes while summoning swords made of reishi similar to Mugetsu. The theme again being that he is taking and accepting the nature that he is this wierd chimera of spiritual creatures and utilizing all of the individual natures of those races.

I'll be real when I say this, I like that ivhigo has two swords to represent the two sources of power in him, but I don't like the individual swords' designs
I still believe ichigo can go second bankai or segunda espada. Like even tho his soul were divided fighting and trying to control 1 another he still was wilding his full bankai sword? Every form of ichigo sword are think vs his dangai or bankai tensa zangetsu being thin. So I think like uquiora ichigo is unique and have 2 bankai and the thin blade is his full strength. Like until more information get release I can’t rap my head around it

We seen the thin tensa zangetsu for every ichigo bankai and even in vanstor lord state when it was white in control, and white zangetsu when they fuse to teach ichigo the final getsuga and dangai ichigo have the thin blade even mungetsu was a thin getsuga and now is like “yeah no the shikai was real and the thin blade is gone”. But now ichigo buster sword in the shikai and bankai?. Like I know we probably aren’t gonna get more information until the last few episodes of the anime if we’re lucky. But if everything we saw was white’s power the and we see second release and evolving your bankai is possible “uquiora and Yamamoto” I just have to go with my theory for now

Honestly the first form of his false shiki was basically the normal sealed state of his sword and now he finally got to use his full power untamed! Though admittedly not all of it.

That's NOT HIS SHIKAI that's his true zanpaktou. No one get there asauchi forged into shikai. Those are his twin zanpaktou or his sword and scabbard. Go read kubos explanation better. Ichigo is back in full time shikai in the hell chapter and kubo said he can still separate them into the two swords meaning he can go out of shikai back down to his twin zanpaktou or his asauchi. He does not have two shikai

So what you are saying is the twin zanpaktou are basically his base ? And his shikai is still the big huge sword he had before ?
@@ItsRinzler7 yes the two are his base zanpaktou or as kubo put it his sword and scabbard. He literally just forged his asauchi white. He got knocked out of bankai down to shikai vs ywach re absorbed his power retaining it but that was his shikai and still is. Two swords his base zanpaktou zangetsu shikai and new tensa zangetsu is his bankai
