    Halló, from Argentina,
Your Spanish is actually good, Hrafna! Brilliant pronunciation. It's curious that Icelandic shares some sound features that resemble the Spanish from Spain. The accents in Latin America are diverse. The Argentinian, for example, is strongly influenced by the Italian accent.
I'd also love to learn your ancient and fascinating language, the skaldic poetry. You have to read a poem written by one of our most famous writers, Jorge Luis Borges called "Islandia"*
Your channel looks interesting too, I'm going to take a look... :)
¡Buena suerte! / Gangi þér vel!
    * Poem here
    Islandia

“Cría cuervos y te sacarán los ojos” is a popular saying that refers to the ingratitude of people.
Basically, you’ve done so much for someone, and instead of showing gratitude, they behave badly towards you.
It's often used to refer to children (whom you have raised) that turn against you at some point.
Also, most of the times it’s your fault, because you were not good enough ‘raising’ (children, for example) and the resulting something or someone turns out to be bad. In this last case, a similar saying in english would be “you reap what you sow”.
    Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽 🤗

    • @QuantumPandita
      @QuantumPandita 4 года назад +3

    • @jesusr.6588
      @jesusr.6588 4 года назад +3

"Mi piace vedere la marea all'alba".
"La musica e la spiritualità sono sacre"
"Il treno corre rapido (o veloce)" and so on.
In italian "ferrocarril" is "treno" (like train in english), but "ferrovia" means "railway" and "carro" means "car" or in general "vehicle", so "ferrocarril" it's fully intelligible.

A few pronunciation tips: Between vowels, Spanish distinguishes between (tap/flap) and (trill).
In many Germanic languages, including English and Icelandic, voiceless stops /ptk/ are aspirated. In Spanish they aren't.
It's "hispano", not "hispaño". Some minimal pairs: una uña (one finger/toenail); sueno/sueño (sound/(sleep/dream)).

    Hi from Brazil!
For a historic curiosity, almost all the countrys around the Bazil, in South America is spanish speaker. During the colonization of South America Continent, it was colonized by Portuguese and Spanish (obvislly had some exceptions like french). Through the Treaty of Tordesillas, South America was divided. And this is the reason of Venezuela, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Equador, Bolívia, Paraguai and Uruguai have Spanish like mother language.
I hope which this helped you, like your videos teach me more english and icelandic too.
    Hugs from Brazil!

Most people have trouble with the spanish rolled R, but icelandic has a very similar sound.

Cria cuervos y te sacaran los ojos is a saying that means that sometimes you do a favor (or many) to someone and they pay back not in a nice way (blaming you, hurting you or similar) you put lots of care growing up crows but they don't care and atack you anyway. You got good pronouncing althou many didn't put the fathers on words to help knowing wich syllabe is the strongest

Hrafna, the way you pronounced "El ferrocarril corre muy rápido" is better than some native speakers I know.
As a side note, these videos have inspired me to start learning Icelandic on my own; might as well take advantage of the many similarities in pronunciation! My first test: to pronounce Eyjafjallajökull fluidly. :D
    Cheers! (Saludos)
