Very different? Nah, they are very similar, actually, even though Icelandic / Norse / Faroese etc have a very unique / different aspect at first sight, being the only group of languages using those letters, however, most words are cognates in all Germanic languages, especially most words that are used the most, like lots of those verbs and prepositions and the most used adjectives and the names of most animals and most words that reflect an element of nature or a fruit or vegetable etc, they usually come from the same root word and still look similar, plus they use the same sounds and diphthongs, so most of the vowels and sounds in Icelandic and Norse also exist in English and in some other Germanic languages, while other sounds like ö also exist in German / Swedish / Norwegian etc - I am learning all the foreign Germanic languages, and I have learnt over 2.000 words in Icelandic and in Old Norse so far, and I have come across tons of cognates that I could immediately recognize, there are really so many of them, waiting for the learner to discover them, so, even if it looks very different at first sight because of the different letters ð and þ and the different word endings an the many vowels with accents, most words are cognates, so they come from the same root words, and one can usually recognize them, especially if one pays attention to each word and if one knows the sounds that those two letters represent, namely the eth letter and the thorn letter, which are the TH sounds in English words like that and think etc, the eth being an approximant of d, while the thorn being an approximant of t, so knowing this, one can recognize a lot of cognates, which would be spelled with a th in English or with a t or d in other Germanic languages!

I actually do use Google Translate and occasionally other online translators but I use Wiktionary and other sources to help me correct the grammar and wording as much as I know how and of course I have friends who help or just translate the stuff themselves but of course they can't always do it so I usually do it on my own.

Great video! I translated all of these sentences into Swedish, but all of them were correct so it wasn't as funny😅

@Delegates to the National Assembly國民大會代表 very true. I should do Finnish and see how that goes... you see I'm a Swedis speaking Finn 😄

Some stores here in Norway sells something called ''Egils maltextrakt'' and ''Egils appelsin''. I think they're icelandic. Is it pretty much the same?

Icelandic and Norwegian is so alike, I can understand it and also not understand it. I understand a bit of what you say because icelandic resembles Norwegian because it is Old Norwegian. I love how Icelandic sounds like, it’s so cool. Also you’re so beautiful❤️

You look so extra beautiful with the make up like that, looking like a movie star. Those lashes are amazing.
Funny with all the translations, and I did understand some of it as it is similar to Norwegian and some of it is similar to Danish. Norwegian is very similar to Danish in writing but not how they speak. I thought that Icelandic would be more similar to Norwegian than it is though.

That's awesome hearing you translate between the two languages, it's cool to hear what Icelandic sounds compared to english back to back
