    Harley wanted to charge me $400+ for the 1000 mile maintenance. Did it myself way cheaper

      I just did the 5000 mile service on mine. I’ll probably do the 10,000 mile service at the dealer, only because my warranty will be just about up at that point and I want to get the latest updates and anything they find that’s covered under warranty

    I just got a quote for $600 for the 1000 mile change from 2 different dealerships. Screw that!

      I feel your pain… Sad thing is I’m probably going to have to get my 10,000 miles service done at the dealership. My warranty runs out right about the same time as I should hit 10,000 miles so I wanna make sure anything they find in any updates that need to be done are done under warranty

    Now on my Buell I paid way more for Synthetic Engine and Primary oil .. I paid $4.14 each for Frame oil Filters at Walmart.. One year ago I paid $11.00 for an oil filter at NAPA "WIX" and $8.00 for a Fram at a Power Sports Dealer.. when he Power Sports Dealer raised their price to $12.00 for the Fram is when I found them for $4.14 at Walmart .. Plus sales tax.. I ordered other items so I could get free shipping ..

      What area do you live in, I’m curious. I have yet to find an engine oil that I would use for less than eight dollars a quart. Even the cheaper synthetic choices such as mobile one or Castrol synthetic or about that price. Thanks for watching Mike, I really appreciate the comments. Keep the rubber side down!

      @@rosyrosenblum9823 I did not buy Synthetic for my Yamaha FZ-07 I bought like 4 5 quart Jugs of 10-W-40 in 2019 and have not used it all up yet.. I bought Shell Rotella 15W-40 Diesel grade oil at Sam's Club for $120 per barrel cheaper than I had been paying Locally for Mobile Delvac Super 1300 15W-40 .. I have 15-W-40 in the Buell now for Winter. Will switch over to Mobil -1 Synthetic air cooled V-Twin oil for the Summer.. I paid over $100.00 for Synthetic 20W-50 and Motul Primary oil ..

      My concern with using other oils is that they don’t meet the specifications designated by Harley Davidson. According to the owners manual which I use as a guide for almost everything internal, acceptable designations include CH - 4, CI - 4, and CJ - 4. I looked through the data sheets on the Castro high mileage, and it does not mention any of those designations. I’m not saying it’s bad for the bike, but I would at least try to stick with recommendations on the designations. Not necessarily the brand.

    Sadly, even though it’s a bad practice, Harley dealerships are known to deny warrantee claims. They even lost a large lawsuit due to them violating the moss Magnuson act a year or two ago. They admitted to violating the act and part of their deal was to inform dealerships to stop saying you had to use Harley Davidson parts and accessories yet they still do. With that being said, if the mechanic does everything on that list, it’s probably worth the $500 I recently spent. I was pretty disappointed when I noticed oil dripping off my bike that they did not clean up during the fluid changes. I have the 2024 CVO Rd. glide and being an expensive motorcycle. I do not want to have to fight them on any warrantee claims. I will be doing many of the services myself from now on but I will be using Harley Davidson oils and filters and saving those reciepts, just so there’s no fight with the warrantee if there are any claims

      You sound like you are cut from the same cloth as me. All that being said the reality is the warranty only covers the bike for a couple of years anyway so at that point I will be completely done with listening to what is recommended by the dealership

      @zimvader25 2 месяца назад +1

      A two year warranty isn’t exactly the queens tits anyway. Depending on where you live, Harley warranty covers 2 riding seasons. Maybe half a years worth of actual riding. Save your money and don’t worry about warranty work.

      Will probably do my 10k service at the dealership only because it should coincide with the expiration of the factory warranty. Just in case something is found, might as well have it covered

      No argument on the cost. It is nice to get the peace of mind but man it cost a lot of money for that piece of mind
