Jeff Gordon is the greatest driver in NASCAR history, he came in NASCAR and changed NASCAR and brought a different fan base NASCAR wasn't use to. Jeff Gordon will always be my favorite driver!
I remember watching this finish live on TV. My dad said Jimmie was gonna go to victory lane when I asked him who he thought was gonna win with about 2 to go. I stuck with my driver. Final lap, amazing move by Jeff and won. Told my dad after the race, "I told ya Jeff could do it!"
As a life-long Jeff Gordon-fan, this race never excited me more than any Jeff Gordon victory I've ever seen. I was jumpin' up and down like a victorious pit crew!
It was my favorite Jeff Gordon race and the year i became a Jeff Gordon fan. Oh yea....War Damn Eagle. Isn't our year in football, but Auburn is a basketball school now too! 😆 🦅🐅
As a longtime Gordon fan, this one is right up there in my list of favorite wins. Behind his first win, the first Brickyard, and his 3 Daytona 500's. He just needs to make the list longer. :P Put THAT in your pipe and smoke it, Jimmie! HA! Team 24!
I think this is the most exciting win I've ever seen out of Jeff Gordon. This was the only time I ever saw Jeff win with a last lap pass. Jeff doesn't seem to be one who wins very often on a last lap pass.
Jeff, congratulations on winning the Subway Fit Fresh 500 today in Phoenix. I know that it has been a long time since you've been in victory lane. Again, congratulations.
I was the lucky fan that won the Pepsi Contest that designed the paint scheme on the #24 Pepsi car for this race - I was standing in Jeff's pit watching and when they took the white flag I thought for certain that Jeff would be second to JJ and couldn't believe it when he went high and passed JJ with that shot from Stewart. Got to go to Victory Lane and had a great time that I will never forget. A dream come true for a Nascar Fan. Even have a diecast of the #24 Pepsi Car that I designed.
The, ya know, interesting and amazing is that Jeff Gordon proved that he could take Earnhart and Jimmy's best moves and still beat them. He took on 2/3 of the greatest of all time in their prime and were able to win races against them. That's amazing. I don't think Jeff is the GOAT, but he could hang with them. Top 5 driver in Nascar history.
Ik everyone was talking about hw Jeff Gordon won the race but no one was talking about hw Dave blaney came in 3rd place that was so cool that Dave blaney came in 3rd following a 6th place at Charlotte
So many little nuances here. How the hell did he get up in front of Stewart and cross 2 lanes to the right. Secondly. How did Hamiln drive by 5 people going 4 wide. Thirdly what happened to Stuart he should got 4th. What happened. Why didn't he turn to block? What happened?
@@demcanes9488 How can you ever rate the 48 ahead of the 24? That's just blatantly misinformed at best. JJ is not ahead of JG, no way. Gordon would be a 7 time champion if NASCAR actually used the real championship system. And while I respect you placing Dale ahead of Petty, nobody beats The King and Dale himself would even tell you that. #43 > #3 > #24 > the rest
@@SniperX147 um. The only 3 drivers better than Gordon all have 7 Championships. 2/3 won a title racing at the same time as Jeff and Johnson won 5 straight.
Jeff Gordon one of the G O A Ts of NASCAR and my first favorite driver growing up. He had a hell of a year in 2007 and 2014. Ryan Blaney is actually Dave's nephew I think if I remembered that he wanted to follow his uncles footsteps. If Kyle Larson went back in time he would've been a 5th or 6th Hendrick car on the 07 squad now that would be a super car team
I remember that penalty he serves. I was pissed thinking "He's not gonna win today" but a caution changed all of that and thank to Tony Stewart for pushing him into the lead when counted the most. I remember Chad Knaus' reaction. He was pissed.
This is why Jeff Gordon is The Man at Dega!!!! 6-time winner will be 7 sunday!!!! I watched this video all the time and everytime it gets my blood pumping with excitement!!!
pfft. thats nothing! My friend was his jackman for his pit crew in '95 and he currently has it displayed in his home. I had a total nerdgasm when I first saw it :)
I hope Jeff can get to 3rd all time on the wins list. He has slowed down a LOT in the past few years from when he used to win 5+ races a season. He has been consistant this season, but he only has 1 win, and 7 second place finishes. No matter what, he will always be my favorite forever. Go Jeff!
I was 11 when Jeff won this race, I’m 27 years old now as well Jeff Gordon was my driver too. I recorded the whole race on my VHS. Unfortunately the sound stopped recording 1/3 third into the race. Wish I didn’t record over it later but since the sound wasn’t there I didn’t keep it.
I couldn't believe Jeff won this race. He was back in the 30's until the final laps where he and Jimmie came out of nowhere. This was much better than the two-car draft stuff.
This win is why you have spotters in NASCAR, they tell you who is around you. They let him know Tony was on the high side and he just pushed him on through.
Jeff Gordon and Jimmie did smartest strategy ever. They stood in the 30position all day until the end. and they finished 1st and 2nd. Very Cool! Go Gordon!
i hope we see more finishes like this at talladega in the near future, the 2 car tango is cool but you can't beat a snarling pack of cars racing through the tri-oval 3 wide.
I don't care what people say, Gordon is, has and always will be better than Johnson by far. First, Johnson has the best equipment in the sport. Second, Gordon has had awful luck ever since this happened. It seemed every time he had a shot to win a race or as far as 2009, 2011, and 2013 to win the title, something happened to mess it up. In 2009 he had 8 second place finishes yet only 1 win. In 2011 he came into the Chase as a favorite but was plagued with bad cars and bad luck. And in 2013 he battled his way into title contention after a win at Martinsville, only for that to go away with a blown tire sending him into the wall at Texas the next week. But in 2014, so far things have been different. 2 Top 5's in the first 2 races. 3rd (or 4th) at Daytona, and 5th at Phoenix. If he gets another top 10 or top 5 at Las Vegas next Sunday, it won't be long until we see a win. And I think that 24 car will make it to the Final 4 this season with a shot at the Championship. DRIVE FOR 5 2014!
Hard to believe this is the last time Jeff won a plate track race. He had a good car in the 2008 Daytona 500, and he ended up having mechanical issues. Had a good car at 'Dega a few weeks later, and gets dished out. Good car coming back to Daytona, and gets wrecked. Then in '09, Jeff just had no luck on the plate tracks. Jeff had a good car at Spring 'Dega this year, and gets wrecked. Then has a good car at Daytona, and gets passed again.
Jeff Gordon is, without a doubt, the best and most successful driver in NASCAR history this side of Richard Petty and David Pearson, and he continues to dish it out.
Anybody else out there scared to death watching this race. That whole day I was just waiting for something bad to happen. They drove all day like they are nuts.

Brian Dunn you are absolutely right
was my favorite driver as a kid
@@zachpruner6354 mine was also. I watched him race weekly at a local dirt track here in Indiana. He was my favorite.
A bunch of butt hurt dale sr fans lol
3 have 7, a few have 3 but 1 and only one has 4. Also #3 have more wins? No. Does the #48 car have more wins? No. Only #43 and Pearson have more wins.
Way to show the pass for the win ESPN...

I was there. I'll never forget that last lap.
that was amazing in last place the whole day and comes back and leads the only lap that counted. awesome paint scheme too
I cannot get enough of Denny Hamiln driving past like 5 people going four wide.
