“Watch good players using your character” For the longest time I was an Ike main, but lately I’ve noticed I seem to win more matches as Young Link, so I’ve been studying Young Link a lot and that’s actually how I found your page you were playing a tournament as Young Link lol
Jack Mullenbach if you’re someone who constantly spams projectiles and only relies on ranged attacks, then I’d agree that one could argue you’re bad at the game, but the key to playing Young Link is mixing up his projectiles with his close combat moves and air attacks. His projectiles aren’t as infuriating as other characters, like for example Ness. If u find yourself against an opponent who heavily relies on projectiles, then u need to practice avoiding and punishing them. For instance yesterday I played against a Ness player who kept spamming PK Fire over and over and over again. Eventually the more I played him the easier it was to avoid and punish it
Jack Mullenbach but just like with any character, Young Link is not for everybody. I mained Link in both Melee and Brawl, so I’m used to the classic link moveset. There are some of the smaller oddball characters that some people are amazing at playing as, examples are: Villager, Duck Hunt, Olimar, and Ice Climbers. For me personally, those are actually some of my WORST characters.
A few quick tips for finding RUclips videos of your character, sometimes you'll struggle finding your characters on RUclips and you might find outdated videos because the default setting on RUclips is relevancy which checks for views and likes over recency. Firstly change the RUclips filter in sort by Upload Date rather than Relevancy, this will prioritize you to recent sets so you can see how people are playing now. Secondly, try all different variations of a character's name. If you have a character with a long name like Rosalina and Luma or Duck Hunt Dog, try looking for abbreviations like "RosaLuma" or "DHD" as they might also have results come up. Thirdly, figure out what characters are named in other languages, especially in Japanese. This can help you find sets from players not exclusively in NA on RUclips, and allows you to study other regions easier. Finally, SSBWorld is a large community driven video archive that has everything from high level sets to Round 1 sets at locals, and if you can't find sets for your main on there maybe be the person who goes and uploads them to there to help out other mains of your character.
Dude, that watching good players using my characters and trying to add what they're doing into my repertoire is really solid advice. Different subject but same concept, but I've been a guitar player for 21 years, started when I was 9, and I'm 30 now, and a question I get all the time on songwriting, melodic ideas, scales and solos and such I respond with the same advice. Go listen to some of your favorite players, and try to add some ideas that you like into your library. It's a recipe for success to surround yourself with other people that are better than you. On top of that, play with people that are better than you. You will improve.
This was my first smash game, I bought it right before Covid. At first I hated how hard it was (I didn't grow up playing videogames) but now I'm catching on. I finally "know what I don't know" and I'm not just button mashing anymore. Now, I love the game and have multiple characters I can play. I hadn't thought about that. Same with improving on not falling off. I also need to remember to dodge and block. Thanks so much!
Most important thing imo: Just stop approaching all the time. One of the biggest reasons why I consistently do good in elite smash is that people run at u without thought process. I’ve been playing smash casually since 2007(I was 5) and I’ve been taking it seriously since mid 2017 and I haven’t really seen any improvements since then. I’m a Ness main myself and I always get beat by one of my friends that is a Dedede main. So let’s hope this helps lol
Stay at a range where dedede cant inhale or hit back Gordo after he throws it. Once you have a lead hold Center Stage and don't approach. Pay attention to how he uses his jump Mix-Ups
The problem that I have now is that I can now do the basic movements in training mode like shorthop fastfall attack but cannot apply it on a real match. Like I forgot to use it sometimes, or miss it when I intentionally do the move. It feels like there is a disconnect during the training and the real match.
Yeah, I get that. Maybe just try to focus on reliably performing shorthop fastfall during a match above everything else. You might get bodied for doing that, but at least you're building that muscle memory.
Just pick a skill you want to incorporate into your fighting, and consciously choose to use it. You won’t use it right every time, but the more you do the better you will understand when to use it
Thanks this helped a lot. I have a habit to only sticking onto one or two characters regardless of who I’m going again. As I like to master particular characters, but focus on them too much. I am sticking to DK and Mario, barely switching to anything else. I will try to get out of that habit.
I think after like 12 minutes this turned into ad. Just for his coaching, videos, and money matches. Still a solid video. Helpful and applies to almost any game 👍
It's funny that you mentioned looking at pro Gameplay of your particular character because I do that for paladins. Typed in paladins pro ash Gameplay and started watching
The thing is, with Ridley, it’s hard to adjust to others gameplay because I’m playing a whole different style than others. Anything that they will do is mainly because of their style.
Jtails Perfect! Thanks. I have a small tourney this weekend and will be recording my matches (I main Mewtwo). I'm sure i won't win it all but i will definitely contact you about your service afterwards and see where i can improvev. Thanks again!
QUESTION! What about if you want to get better at ultimate, but you can't really play the game? Like, for me, I have a gaming club I go to at my school, and we mainly play ultimate. We usually do tournaments because of how big the club is, but I'm pretty bad, so I basically get bodied every match, and have to wait for an entire tournament of like, 20 people to end before I get a chance to play again, and even then, I can't learn anything because my matches last less than a minute. How do you get better in a situation like that? (Also hopping into training mode/practicing in prolonged 1v1s isn't really an option because I would hold back the entire club and we have limited time)
@@JulesTrades if you ever need a beatem up dummy on the Switch let me know lol. I love playing tourneys but can never get past the 2nd string of winners

I played like 4 games of melee on my friends GameCube years ago and always liked this game, idk SHIT about this game. The switch version freezes a lot too
My very 1st Smash game I ever played was Melee and well never really gained much experience than Brawl Showed and I saw that I needed to improve also Wii U was available and took the opportunity and still stayed behind somehow it somehow frustrating because Im not considered a suckiesh player in Smash but I see mostly all the people I know improve mostly in Smash games all the time and I want to improve with any type of character well not really with the characters I specifically like I already got my hopes down for little Mac due to his Low recovery but alteast I want to imprive with Mii Brawler and Sonic
I've been practicing RAR back airs recently and I'm getting them pretty successfully but when I try to attack cancel I keep fucking up. Some of these inputs are super tight in a whole ass match and my reflexes in general struggle to focus at a frame perfect level. I've been doing it in slow motion too but the tilt just comes out instead.
attack canceling isn't necessary in most cases and just RAR is more useful and it's easier. People tend to overcomplicate the game often. I don't do much tech and still get out of pools at majors. Fundamentals > Tech skill always. it's not a replacement.

Pay attention to how he uses his jump Mix-Ups
drop ness
Darth Caasi Na man, I’ve been a ness main for 12 years i can’t quit now
Evan Ms thanks! One day I’ll beat him and it’ll be all the more satisfying
try lucas
Thats dragonball fighterz music in the background
I heard I burn in this video which earns you my respect
Here is a matchup tip. If you don't know any shulk mains, ask a cheater to play with you to get the real Shulk experience.
*salt* :p
The problem that I have now is that I can now do the basic movements in training mode like shorthop fastfall attack but cannot apply it on a real match. Like I forgot to use it sometimes, or miss it when I intentionally do the move. It feels like there is a disconnect during the training and the real match.
Yeah, I get that. Maybe just try to focus on reliably performing shorthop fastfall during a match above everything else. You might get bodied for doing that, but at least you're building that muscle memory.
Just pick a skill you want to incorporate into your fighting, and consciously choose to use it. You won’t use it right every time, but the more you do the better you will understand when to use it
That tekken music gives me PTSD
Thank you! I'm trying to learn not to get bodied by my friends 😂
My main problem is my controller, it drifts a lot and I don't get directional up B's correctly, maybe because I use joycons
Yeah man that happens to me. I hate joycons in Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Thanks dude
you're very welcome! Let me know if you have any questions!
thanks for the advice to improve in smash ultimate now im getting better with ness and i hope i can become a godlike ness main just like bestness
Awesome! Yeah Bestness is great. I also have some Ness videos on the channel to help you in the right direction.
The thing is, with Ridley, it’s hard to adjust to others gameplay because I’m playing a whole different style than others. Anything that they will do is mainly because of their style.
I watch you because you are good with Corrin and give actual good advice when you play
How to win every smash game in one step:
Have pyra and have at least an ounce of skill
lmfao i dont have pyra but is she that easy to use?
@@operator0101 I dont have her either but thats what everyone with her does
Never thought I'd hear BlazBlue music in a Smash video (14:17)
You could say I'm "cultured"
Im here because you put my main with my skin on the thumbnail
That is awesome that you offer the ‘match analysis’ service. How does one go about contacting you and setting that up? Thanks!
He had a buds ness email
Wow ok autocorrect. Anyway it should be around somewhere
To clarify, he has a business email
yes, send me an email at J T A I L S T V @ G m a i l . c o m
Jtails Perfect! Thanks. I have a small tourney this weekend and will be recording my matches (I main Mewtwo). I'm sure i won't win it all but i will definitely contact you about your service afterwards and see where i can improvev. Thanks again!
Teach me papa
This was extremely helpful thank you
What if I know what my opponents gonna do, know how to beat it, but still doesn't work?
Practice practice practice. If you know what to do and how to do it, the only real solution is to just keep practicing.
Man I love this vid
Great guide Jtails 💗
You have any tips for how to improve at Mii Fighters? Watching Tournaments are hard because of the custom moves and how they suit certain playstyles
He totally just outed us ganondorf mains😂😂😂🤦♂️
Is there any tournament Ganondorfs here i need practice I wanna compete one day
I have been training on them because they rekt me lol
If only the training mode allowed you to record and playback moves that give you trouble. That would help me a ton.
oh yeah I wished for this since 2008, and since I grew up playing fighting games, I knew exactly what I was missing :(
Is it just me or is this man improvising without a script?
(Also hopping into training mode/practicing in prolonged 1v1s isn't really an option because I would hold back the entire club and we have limited time)
Aak them if you can practice before the first match
Great vid
Thank you! I hope it helps :)
@@JulesTrades if you ever need a beatem up dummy on the Switch let me know lol. I love playing tourneys but can never get past the 2nd string of winners
I can play almost any other game and compete/win I have friends who don’t play video games at all and are better than me at smash. I cannot grasp this game.
dont mind me, just watching this even though i will never get good at smash
I don't think that's the right attitude to have if you're truly trying to improve! I believe in you.
@@JulesTrades i've been playing smash since like 2015
that's fine, I've been playing since 2008 you have more work to do! Also playing a game is different from working correctly to improve. those are two separate things altogether
its kinda hard to improve when all you get is teabagging spammy cunts that you can't do shit about or super scary people that no matter how much you try, you cant escape from their what feels like true combos
I feel you, I lose every matxh
I’ve been playing smash since melee , so I’ve been trash since almost the beginning
Been playing since 64 😔
I don’t have mains in any fighting game, but if I was forces to have one it would probably be Ness. If smash had Madeline from Celeste there would be an instant main.
I played like 4 games of melee on my friends GameCube years ago and always liked this game, idk SHIT about this game. The switch version freezes a lot too
I have to know the terms to get better at this I don’t really pay attention to terminologies in fighting games
I thought this was about what smash Ultimate needs to improve itself lmao
This is so useful
thank you! I'm glad you find it useful :)
I got out my dusty old notebook and have 2 full pages of notes
Yo i played this game for the first time like 5 days ago i understood like none of this lmao
this is a great video to start off on if you're new to my channel: ruclips.net/video/L30sLmV3Dps/видео.html
Me too lol but i am trying to improve :D
Izaw’s art of smash ultimate is the place to start.
Watch parts 1-4, then 2-4 again, then 3-4, then 4 again.
1 minute into the video and im already learning good stuff
On that note - WHAT DO I DO AGAINST KIRBY HELP AHHHHH
How I learn: I get my ass beat a few times. I adapt and win a couple games. Repeat.
Great video!
5:39 thats some life pro tip
How much is your coaching service in general?
I've been trying to learn of how Isabelle works, how to play her, and what are her matchups like.
