    This is handily one of the best videos for Ultimate available right now for players who understand what "nair" means and get some of the basic gameplay elements but don't understand the difference between their play and what they see pros doing. I feel like a lot of pro content creators get really bogged down in jargon that doesn't make any sense to casual players, but this was incredibly comprehensive while still being easy to understand. It actually made me seriously consider shelling out a few bucks for coaching.
    Seriously, I'd love to see more content like this. The controller cam was a great idea, too.

    • @bonniejunk

      Been 4 months, but just wanted to tell you there's plenty of smash jargon guides, notably BananaBoy's.

    • @Stathio
      @Stathio 5 лет назад +8

      I 100% agree with you- the jargon kills most people's motivation to improve- it just sounds like unnecessarily confusing nonsense unless you already know what it means, and even then it's hardly worth the time saved saying it. While in actuality? All of this jargon-ified stuff is actually really simple and accessible to do when it's said in English.
      Like, we're learning how to play a game competitively- we shouldn't have to be basically learning a mini language on top of that.
      So yeah- guides like this which just explain things clearly instead of assuming understanding of slang terminology are really appreciated.
      After all- if we already knew all of these terms, we'd hardly need a guide in the first place, would we?

    I use pro controller... I don’t see a lot of guides that use the pro controller, and I’m pretty new to the game the gamecube controller isn’t something I’m familiar with, but here’s how I consistently short hop!
    So basically when you set two buttons to jump, and press the two buttons/trigger at the same time, you short hop!
    I main Cloud, so my neutral is just... ✨AERIAL✨ and I wanted to get better, so I watched a cloud main who I consider the best in the world, “Sparg0” he short hop -> bairs a LOT! So what I’m comfortable with is setting the buttons “X” and “Y” to jump and just pressing them at the same time, then back airing
    Hopefully this helps for my fellow Pro controller kings/queens 😎

      After learning the tech in melee... It's not about how hard you press things or how fast you flick the controls, it's all about execution and timing. Whenever you feel like your hands are getting tired, take a break and try to assess which actions make your hand tired in that way, and try to minimize the stress on your hand with those actions. Hope this helps!

    Something I found useful is to treat this like you would any other muscle. You don't want to get stuck at short hops and call it a day. Work on trying to do all of these techniques. He never said to do one. Do them all to the best of your ability.
    Its like how when you can't do a pull up, you don't just try to do one pull up a day and give up. You work out other parts of your arms where you are lacking and eventually you get better not only in other parts, but in the pull ups you were trying to get stronger at. Sorry if its hard to understand, just know that you need to work on all of the exercises to get better at short hops in general.
