    After hearing you say to use PK thunder with my eyes closed(even though I don’t use the PK boys), I now know I want you specifically to make more tutorials. That’s a level of depth to help with learning that most people don’t try to teach, and it’s great.

      Reps is short for repetitions you brainless muscle head. You can do reps for anything , writing , reading , excercise. Anything that can be repeated , can be repititious.

      Well duh reps is short for repetitions I just didn’t expect him to say that because I always think of reps as apart of lifting. I’m not saying that they can’t be called reps I just thought it was funny.

    You put a lot of thought into your videos, and you approach the game the same way I do in terms of testing. It's a refreshing mindset that allows one to learn better because you entertain the many possibilities that naturally come to mind, rather than people like Zero and Leffen who ramble. What if instead of a hand cam you had that controller thing like ZeRo has on his stream? It shows all the buttons/sticks and shows when/where he presses them. Might look cooler/neater on the video. Idk how you could set it up though

    • @wanderingrandomer
      @wanderingrandomer 5 лет назад +41

      I find ZeRo's set-up to be kinda hard to tell what buttons are being pushed when, because it all happens so fast. At least with handcam, you can actually see the movements of the hand, which is useful if you struggle with inputting consistently like I do.

    • @icypengin3502

    This was actually a great idea. Most of the time people don't really do any tutorials on improving recovery as it's usually assumed players already know their respective characters enough to not need it. And the only exceptions being special recoveries like Link's bombs or Wario's bike etc; since most other characters don't have recoveries like them.
    While this is definitely for those players new to the game and want to improve on a competitive level, it's still a good piece of information.

    This video has really opened my eyes. Practicing my recovery has helped me immensely with edge guarding. I even kind of adapted your practice regimen to help with a really bad habit that I've had ever since I was an 8 year old kid playing Melee. I used to burn my second jump way too early so of course this means I could never get the courage/confidence to go in deep to edge guard. So In addition to what you went over in this video, I've been practicing running straight off a ledge without jumping, fairing, and then jumping back up to the ledge. I can't stop saying how much this has helped. Thanks so much!

  • @Freeeze_
    @Freeeze_ 5 лет назад +2

    when you brought up recovery exploits you should have mentioned something like how inkling can get horizontal movement from the paint roller and an extra jump since u can exit it with jump but doesnt have it count towards your 2 jumps that you would normally get. example: use paint roller off stage. jump to exit then jump and jump again and B+^ and you still have air dodge left over if you need it. zero i think it was talked about it in a video he recently did on inkling. its honestly mental how much distance and play you have off stage by using that method

    You dont need to B reverse your up B, if you're facing the wrong way just hold diagonal up toward stage and hit B and you will automatically change your direction, only thing is you wont get the extra height from holding back for example

  • @davidtapia4458

    I find that characters with teleporting up B's, like Palutena, Mewtwo, Zelda, etc are the hardest for me to get consistently if I'm not pressing a cardinal or intercardinal direction on the joystick (where the little dents are) since you get very little info about where your trajectory is going until you, uh, finish teleporting and that's too late. Or rather, it's hard to tell what exactly happened differently when I think I made the same input twice (and I know I went roughly the same depth down before jumping) but one time you make it and the second you don't rip

  • @shivdmanwii
    @shivdmanwii 5 лет назад

    1 small issue i have is how you kept saying b-reverse up b when it is mostly a turn around up b most characters do. The difference is quite important because reversing your momentum right before using up b can actually get you killed with some characters if you use a b-reverse instead of a turn around up b.
    Other than that this is a great video and normally what i mostly tell people when they first learn smash because the most important thing in this game is to not die and knowing the limits of your recovery is extremely important for that as well as how it allows you to escape a lot of % from people edgeguarding you because you know exactly what you can weave around while still safely making it back to the stage.

  • @Torrontegui
    @Torrontegui 5 лет назад

    B-reversing it's actually easier. Instead of pressing Up+B and immediately pressing the opposite direction just move the stick towards between Up and Back+B. The stick should go diagonally.

    I play a poor recovery character (incineroar) and my biggest question that I cant seem to find an answer to is how many actions I can input during recovery before I cant move anymore? I know you can upB, air dodge, and do a single jump, can you do more? For example can I add a sideB in there? Or what if I wanna spike someone who is trying to recover, if I jump off the map, and spike them with a d-air, can I still air dodge, jump, and upB?

    • @JulesTrades
      @JulesTrades  5 лет назад +9

      Hi. You can go into training mode and test out for yourself and see how many actions you can perform if you can't find an answer. but to give you an answer anyway, figure out which moves put you into a "freefall state" which for incineroar none of them do.
      You can only do one air dodge, one up b, one side b, one jump before you touch the ground again.
      So yeah if you spike someone you can still jump, air dodge, side b and up b.

      @@JulesTrades I appreciate the answer! I actually dont have the game, I play it a lot with a group of friends so I cant practice on my own like i'd prefer, its always just straight into matches :p Does taking damage reset your options at all? Like if you jump, and upB and then get hit before ever touching the stage, can you jump and upB again?

      @JulesTrades  5 лет назад +5

      Yeah if you get hit, you get another up b and air dodge.

      Potentially important to mention with incineroar, while his upB is one of the more unique options (only a few are like it and do not put you in your "helpless" freefall state) because of how far down his upB sends you after, you should almost always still treat it like its your last resort for recovering. Which is how most characters work anyways.
      If you want to try it up high and offstage you could surprise your opponent and hit them for a lot of knockback, but most places offstage, that will kill you when you could have lived.

    Are you the reason I saw a Ness player at a local tournament recover whilst staring down his opponent and his team? He major got in their heads and he would do it every time I thought it was sorcery :O

    I think I missed something when you mentioned about characters ending up facing the wrong way when recovering.
    In order to prevent that, do I have to do a directional airdodge first, then jump towards the stage?

    • @TDot_SSB
      @TDot_SSB 5 лет назад +2

      Prot07ype no, you just need to reverse your up b by flicking the control stick the opposite way as soon as you up b.

      But directional airdodge then jumping is optional.

    I went really hard in Sm4sh, pushed myself to competitive levels. Admittedly i got a bit intense, and my friends don’t want to play me anymore lol. This time I’ll be more chill, not so competitive, and just focus on having fun.

    I've gotten into the bad habit of using the analog stick to jump- I've done it for years now and I can't break the habit. Anyways I often find that sometimes when I'm thrown off the stage, I try to jump and nothing happens and then I fall too low. Its VERY annoying, and I know I'm not the only one this has happened to.
