- @cabininthenorth This first frame of my log cabin is finished after 3 years of work. In this video, the last layers of logs and pillars for the terrace are made. Finally, we take shelter in an old cabin to shelter from the heavy rain.
New sub from South Africa. Love the videos, however I've gotta start @ the first one. LoL, all the naysayers, i wouldn't worry too much about getting flooded. I live in a huge city & when it rains houses are destroyed. Water getting in through well sealed doors & windows is no shocker. Great work & what a paradise. Much Love from over the ocean 🌍💌👍👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. The height difference between the surface of the water and the cabin is so great that there is no danger to the cabin.

On the downstream side, the ground level drops, so during a flood, the height of the water level does not pose a danger to the cabin. At the beginning of the video, it is flood time and the water is at its highest. The new layer of soil made under the cabin has worn away a little from the beach, I will add stones or concrete protection to it.
A very nice place! The sewerage system is right outside the front door, how convenient...🤔
Jyst a suggestion Before you need to put all ur log supposed u need to apply Varnished to prevent from pest !
In Finland, you don't need varnish for pests. If you keep the trees dry there is no problem.

Yeah, if the river floods he can kiss that cabin goodbye. Unless he REALLY knows that area very well and hasn't seen it rise through a full 4 season rotation I wouldn't have built there unless he's got that floor together tighter than a frogs butt and doesn't mind his cabin turning into a houseboat.
I have 30 years of water level information. It does not pose a danger to the cabin.
@@cabininthenorth I'm glad to hear it because you are putting a lot of hard work into that and I'd hate to see it destroyed by a small river turned into a raging torrent.
Most of the rivers I know well from having lived near can massively break their banks and rise by up to 5-6 meters or more. A flood like that going over a Weir tosses decent size uprooted trees around like they are small branches.
@@andyroo8592 It is true. This stream is still quite small. The new layer of soil on the beach wears away due to the current, I have to reinforce it with stones or concrete protection.

Новое здание представляет собой баню-кабину. Большое здание - это старая хижина, которую я отремонтирую, когда сауна будет закончена.

Мда, странно это как то, никто в пойме не строит - не рационально, раз в 7-10 лет бываю не просто большие, а очень большие паводки и там где никогда не топило "вдруг" все затапливает, и тогда начинаютс проблемы которые можно было избежать построив дом немного выше и дальше от речки. А раз дом в лесу то здесь наверняка где то живут бобры и возможность затопления возрастает кратно, одной плотины не иже по течению достаточно, чтоб у вас все "поплыло". Это моё личное мнение и возможно вам повезет и вас не подтопит, но я бы тут не стала строить однозначно, даже с учетом того что место и правдакрасивое.

I questioned the idea too with building so close to a fast moving stream. Does this region get snowfall in the winter? I'd be concerned of a washout in the spring.

And just listen to the small creak running water so nice I bet he looked in to it before he built there because if you seen in video there is another house there
