I’ve been fascinated with this whole trial and I’ve watched so much of it. Basically this narcissistic assclown chose to defend himself then proceeded to basically try to get the judge to spoon feed him legal help throughout the trial and she constantly refused of course. So he threw temper tantrums the whole trial
She didn’t even refuse lol an observer could learn a lot about how a criminal trial can play out… if they actually paid attention to her responses unlike Brooks

I believe he chose to defend himself as a way of delaying and raising incoherent Sovereign citizen law. He really thought that nonsense was going to help him. Little did he know he ended up being the Prosecution's best witness. 😃

Well, Brooks is a sovereign citizen and it's beyond me why this judge recognize that. The argument they're having is so pointless. Is she really "allowing" him to go back to his cell to get a notebook? This judge is just not getting it. She should be removed from the bench. As for Brooks, all charges should be dropped.

The judge is not only impeccably patient and professional--she also a lovely woman. She did an amazing job with the trial of this clown.
And then she sentenced some Asian guy last week to 4 months imprisonment for domestic violence, report to the jail within 48 hours. Guy leaves court, drives to Illinois, and stabs his in-laws.

@@straycatttt2766 I wondered that too at first, but the crimes that that guy committed were very minor offenses. It’s highly unusual to send someone straight to jail out of the courtroom if they are not already in custody. 2 days is way less than what they are usually given.

Unfortunately, judges have to deal with horrible stuff often, even threats to their families. I have not that much patience, but maybe it helps to think she’s on the bench and not in the shoes of that defendant right there 🤢😣

I completely understand your response to DB. I loved how this judge handled him, although my criticism is she should have given him 5 chances as opposed to 10. I say that because I know Judge was thinking about different laws involved and appeal issues as well as his rights. A lot of people really criticized her and brought up how to discipline children, one warning and then time out. And I understand where those people are coming from, too, but there was a lot Judge was considering. I would just submit that 5 chances would have been sufficient.

@@CatalinaFOIA this clip is the only bit of this trial I've watched so I don't know about the trial specifics - did the Judge not appoint someone to sit as his co-counsel? Oftentimes judges do this in case the defendant has questions regarding the law, above his capacity and if they become unruly, then there's someone else that knows the case and can't step in for him.

The court does have the right to revoke a persons right to represent themself but they have to give him a chance to be continually disruptive. Check Nevada v Blandino

He took away his own lawyer to represent himself then is given opportunity to get HIS list of witnesses from his cell but doesn't want to go back to his cell that he is going to have to go back to anyway. The judge has authority to strip him of the right to defend himself. If he continues to be disruptive she can equate that to him being incapable of defending himself in a correct manner. She's entertained his bullshittery, perhaps as a show of good faith, and he's consistently thrown even more at her. She can (and probably should) tell him that he either starts respecting the court or they will bring back the public defenders and he can watch the trial from jail.

@@onetransam1998 no. Defendants have the right to be their own lawyer as long as they can understand/comprehend/whatever what it means. He knows what is involved with it, so he has the right to represent himself. He just wants to make a spectacle of it all, and by being his own lawyer he can accomplish it. If he wasn’t his own lawyer, he can be stashed away and watch a zoom stream the whole trial.

When Brooks said-"I'm not going to do that", the judge should have ordered the bailiffs to take Mr. Brooks to his cell by any means necessary to find the list. He should not have been allowed to get away with saying that.

The prosecution is trying as hard as possible to make sure he’s treated fairly and this can’t be declared a mistrial later. The judge is trying as hard as she can to treat him fairly and keep order. He is working against everyone. I don’t know if a mistrial is what he’s working toward before it’s even started or if he’s just a psycho that believes his own BS. His sense of entitlement and lack of remorse are hard to stomach.
His mother gave let him drive her SUV that he drove to murder people in a hate crime, full well knowing her son didn't have a driver's license after running of his girlfriend in a few months earlier in a "domestic dispute" situation, with her same SUV. She came out and blamed the police, DMV, etc., that they let her son drive after they took his license away. The problem lies in parenting, or lack there of, and letting your child think this is ok, and that it's everybody else's fault they the person makes the choice they make, like this instance of a person murdering people during a hate crime.

I think his strategy was simple:
Try to prolong the trial as far as possible and try to frustrate the judge to the point where she make a mistake that give him basis for a mistrial.
At this point I think they need to revoke his self-representation and give him a lawyer, to keep things moving and to reduce his bases for appeal.

If anyone doesn't speak Sovereign Citizen crazy, he says he doesn't understand because they believe it means "To stand under" - i.e. he thinks it means he's "standing under" the judge/court. They don't equate the word with "comprehend" or any other synonym. Same with how they insist they're "travelling" and not "driving" when they're caught behind the wheel in order to try and show that they're not beholden to traffic laws. Just another example of how absolutely insane the Sovereign Citizen movement is.

The judge was so nice. She gave him the opportunity to return to his cell for a witness list that she permitted which she didn't have to do at all. He honestly made himself look selfish and arrogant. "I'm not going to do with you, but I'm giving you the opportunity..." She was so nice I wish my judge was that nice when I was in trouble

When I was in trouble I had a fair judge. My family supported me through my time in court. I had a good lawyer.I pled guilty so there was no trial. I did my time and paid back all the money I owed the state.
I remember I was probably 21 when I was late at night driving I ran over a dog I was hyperventilating overwhelmed upset crying knowing I killed this dog. But he was alive he got up and walked away. It was one of the most horrible experiences I've ever had. Never forget
When all is said and done, he will be convicted on every count and no one will cut him an ounce of slack because he has shown through his behavior that he has no remorse and only cares about himself.

Pretty stressful for everyone except the prosecution. If it wasn’t a cake walk for them before it certainly is now.
It’s probably quite stressful for them too, they’ve got to do everything in their power to prevent a mistrial or him getting off on appeal. His conviction is basically assured, but they need to ensure the integrity of that conviction
