  • On the premiere episode of Pati's Mexican Table, Season 6 Pati shows us how to get the most out of one day in the city of Oaxaca. To find more episodes, please visit patijinich.com...
On this episode, in 24 hours, she takes in the top sights, meets up with a local guide, goes to the market for lunch, and gives us a taste of the vibrant restaurant scene in one of the top culinary destinations in all of Mexico. In her kitchen, she recreates some of the things she had at the market and gives them some new uses.

By chance I learned that Season 7 is focuses on Oaxaca. I am going there next week for 10 days for a time in the city but also the countryside with tours and sites related to the food and the textiles. This was perfect! And I will recording the rest of the Season so I can try to replicate the experience when I get home. So excited!

I just just discovered your show and I love it. You are so authentic and real and the quality of foods that you use is awesome. It’s so cute you bring your sons into it. When my boys were young I used to cook with them all the time it was very special. But the best thing is I’m learning a lot about Mexican food.I grew up with Italian food so that’s all I’ve ever done it feels like a whole New World done open up to me thank you

i think they're more aptly called locusts. they usually come in "swarms" during rice harvest. The farmers would catch them in wide nets. if they get deep fried, they have this wonderful aroma. It is very allergenic though. I had always had hives several minutes after I eat them, so have a antihistamine ready just in case.

thanks for the great cooking tips for Mexican dishes. Visited Oaxaca twice but it is so far away from England - such a pity. Do you know what the name of the white cheese they use there - we always called it 'the cheese that makes your teeth squeak' . So many happy memories of the place.

Oaxacans are Americans, real Americans. Most US citizens are not Americans......there is no name for US nationals.
