When Betsaida was talking about the Chico Zapote fruit she stated that you could get chicle from them. This was really good information that might have gotten a little lost due to her accent and not knowing the word "gum". Before the advent of synthetically produced gum the sapodilla trees which include the Chico Zapote were the source of natural chicle or gum. The chicle is found within the bark. The gum industry basically owns its beginning to this naturally produced substance, chicle.

Thats not true, generally Mexicans don't think that the best food comes from Oaxaca. The most popular Mexican food abroad is Comida Norteña along with Tacos which are national. Within Mexico, Puebla is considered the heart of high Mexican cuisine and the most representative and popular within Mexico. Mole and Chiles en Nogada are from Puebla and Mexicans love it! Ordinary Mexicans dont know much about Oaxaca other than that it is a state with a lot of indigenous groups with unique folk art. I am not saying their food is bad, is just that the statement that all mexicans think oaxacan food is the best does not hold as true. Finally real Mexican food can be found in all of Mexico, not just in one state.

BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS TAKE THEM TO EAT THE SAME THING, ALWAYS QUESADILLAS, MEMELAS EMPANADAS... HAVING MORE FOODS THAT THEY CAN DISCOVER... LIKE THE SEGUESA, los higaditos,el amarillo de pollo o res, el verde, el estofado, ETC... THEY LEAVE WITH THE IDEA THAT THE tortilla IS FILLED WITH SOMETHING IS ALL THERE IS

It’s all about learning about different foods! Now that we’ve covered all the basics, we can search for different types in another food tour 😃 and the tortilla is very much a staple here and is offered with pretty much any meal. I’ve been offered tortillas with my spaghetti before. So it’s a pretty important aspect to Mexican food!
