Hey everyone. I recently received a bogus Copyright claim for a random song not even in the video called “No bitchin’” by Tar One and Believe Music. My dispute got rejected which is completely unbelievable, but due to this the video may have been muted or altered at the times 0:29 to 1:03. Thank you all for understanding. If I attempt to appeal it and get rejected, I could lose this video!

Man Mortal Kombat Armageddon will always be my favorite Mortal Kombat just from a casual player point of view. Even now ive been trying to get a copy of armageddon but i still havnt got it. Mostly because im too dumb to set up a ps2 emulator on my laptop. Every time i see people rank it low it kinda makes me sad a little.
MK Armageddon will always have a special place in my heart watching my dad play the Konquest mode growing up. Even though I ranked it low I love almost every MK (Minus special forces and Mythologies). If you want I can link on this comment a tutorial for PCSX2, so you can once again play Armageddon; I currently have it on there!
Also great video. I grew up during the 3d Era and most of my time was spent in shoalin monks trying everything to see if I could play reptile in the story mode
MK Mythologies is like THE Dark Souls of Mortal Kombat; like, it's so hard that even the game knows it's hard(like you can't finish the game if you are in easy mode, or you have to get all the moves to go to the final boss of the game). But imo the game rocks if you start to learn everything from it. Nice video btw.
As a gamer since MK inception I would rank them like this: 1.MK11 best graphics & nostalgia to og trilogy. You shouldn't have been cheap woth dlc thats standard with every game now lol 2. MK 2 - most influenced game in MK history. 3. MK 3 - Ultimate edition fixed everything. 4. MK X 5. MK 9 6. MK 1 - started everything! 7. Deception (3d worst era) 8. Sholio Monks (would like new game) 9. Deadly Alliance 10. Armageddon 11. MK vs DC 12. MK 4 13. Mythologies Sub Zero 14. Special Forces
Played the originals through the arcade collection. 1 was jank, 2 was felt like a slot machine with extra steps & U3 was palatable by default. But the atmosphere & multiplayer with friends was great. I’d say they were worth playing once. If I wanna experience the tournament again, I’ll play SM. If I wanna play 3, I’ll go DS or trilogy patched up on pc. I don’t care if it’s unbalanced if balanced means you need to turn every fight into a perfect ballet to even enter. If 2 is like a sour candy that you teach yourself to like. Mythologies is if that candy inspired a meal. It stands out more given how many simultaneous bad tastes your being bombarded with. The cutscenes do have that goofy charm. If you really want to play it, mod it on pc & look up a guide to minimise the trial & error. I’d say it’s still worth it once (by that standard) For it is a self fulfilling legacy. You don’t play it as it’s bad & those who do will go in expecting bad & only talking about the bad. Most I can say about SF is that it made the black dragon feel bigger than a small posse. Gold patched was goofy enjoyable. But DA was where it felt balanced & rewarding to replay (beyond the marvel of 4’s endings) DA’s GBA ports were rad too. Liked how you could unlock a distinct variety of pallet swaps. Deceptions Konquest was an experience (minus a few challenges) Armageddon felt like it was for everything except the arcade mode. Each individual fighter was watered down into an opponent for Konquest & a basis for the custom fighters. If you wanted to play as a classic character against a classic character, you’d play the previous two games. Vs Dc was a handful of MK characters against a handful of DC characters. You got a messy story mode to contextualise some fights with misunderstandings or “magic fluctuating roid rage” Joker was enjoyable. I liked 9 on vita. It had bountiful content. Wasn’t a fan of the story. 4th snake has made some elaborate rants on how dog those stories were. XL was nice for the various fighters & skins. I like the kombat, but I am too mortal for online. 11 Ultimate has a nice variety of customisation. But it’s also whack inflated.
I enjoyed your review, but did you have to make me feel so old? I remember MK2 in the arcade and MK3. That's it, this is my grey hair moment lol. I still have MK1, MK2, MK3 on SNES, MK Ultimate and MK4 on PS1. MK Sub Zero Mythologies and Mortal Kombat Special Forces (both terrible games). I stopped for a while, but MK9 with the soft reboot was a nice place to start again. MK1 being a hard reboot could make things so fun. I can't argue with your list, based on the ones I played. I do agree with you on MK4. While, roster isn't great, it opened the door for future aspects. I still like MK4 and the post credit scenes were corny, but great lol.

Soild list dude! Played every MK growing up, I'd switch MKX with deception and Armageddon with MK3 personally but that's just a personal taste 😂. I've been replaying them all before MK1 drops, I will after a decade or 2, some dont quite have the same feel but they're still so much fun and almost everyone brings something new. I HATE the krypt in armadeggon though. Kinda took all the mystery and fun away. You outta give MK trilogy a shot on N64, much different than ps1. Good video man!

I haven't played all of them, but I have played MKI, MKII, UMK3, MKUnchained, MKvs.DC and all the Netherrealm ones and Unchained is my personal favorite despite all of its issues.
The first mk i played was mk4 pc edition my father had a disk. I used to play it so much. Oh my god the endurance matches that i played with my brother are countless

Nobody back in the late 90s hated mk4. It was just the next mk and for it’s time looked good. All games in that era look like trash now. Mk3 ultimate overrated with broken characters. Mkx being higher than mk11 is crazy. X has the worst roster in the series and the 50/50s make it so you may never get a turn. I agree with the meter system needs to return and the rest of the list
Mk11 is one of the worst games in the franchise X clears and it’s not particularly close. You’re just not good so you prefer the watered down injustice clone that is mk11
This is close to my list, I will probably put Deception lower. Those 3D era games are just not fun to play, MK's gameplay doesn't really translate well to 3D.
I agree the gameplay just isn’t as satisfying as the 2D games! Deceptions costumes and Konquest mode were great, and I wish they had something similar in the new MK!

Then, not too long ago, and after 'careful' (re)consideration, replaying, and having given it some more thought, I came up with this here 'decisive' tier list. I think it fairly accurately reflects my own opinion regarding this (admittedly pointless) topic. I've excluded certain ports of older games, and I considered the final versions of the recent three major MK games, so not their vanilla releases. Here's my list: S tier: Mortal Kombat X, Mortal Kombat (2011) A+ tier: Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Mortal Kombat 2 A tier: Mortal Kombat: Deception, Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks B tier: Mortal Kombat 11 C tier: Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 3, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Mortal Kombat: Gold, Mortal Kombat 4 D tier: Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Mortal Kombat vs DCU E tier: Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, Mortal Kombat Trilogy F tier: Mortal Kombat: Special Forces This makes sense to me, personally, although I'm well aware that others would probably disagree with some of these rankings. I played Mortal Kombat games since the first one, and so the nostalgia factor plays a huge role here. You also take gameplay, characters, music, story, visuals, additional modes, and fun factor into consideration, along with wordlbuilding, lore, overall atmosphere, personal impact and presentation. I ignored public opinion, critical and/or positive reviews and financial successes. It's still not super clear-cut, and it's difficult to compare a 2D era game that you loved back then, like MK2 for example, to a major modern-day production like MK11. And although I kinda hated MK11 on several levels, you can't really drop a game like that down to bottom tier, given how amazing it looks, and how much content it contains, compared to most other games. I think that would be unrealistic and a bit unfair. I don't know why people tend to place Trilogy relatively high up on their lists, because of how inconsistent that game is, in terms of sprites and animations. It looks like a mugen game to me, and not a very good one. I felt like I had to distinguish between A and A+, as those games are vastly different gaming experiences, but equally enjoyable. I can't place them in the same group, however, exactly because they're so different. As to my #1 and #2 choices; this was quite a difficult pick. I think that MKX was slightly more fun (and also slightly more frustrating) than MK9, but they're very close imo. Anyway, just my two cents.
You really put Sub Zero game in the worst when mk4 is great and mk4 gold is decent? I as a kid had SO MUCH FUN playing sub zero game, idk what Crack y'all are on to hate that game so much. Idk of it was a skill issue or what but the game definitely wasn't as bad as people tend to claim. And I've played it as an adult as well, so don't come at me with that "nostalgia" bs
Tbh this list drops the ball on many aspects. MK2 is like S-tier. MK3 should be in the same tier as MK1. UMK3 is on point. MK4 and Trilogy too. But MKGold needs to be in front of MK4. I mean MK fans actually bought a Dreamcast just for that game. Deception is just a slight improvement over MKda, ranked way too high.
Mk9 is best game overall in content, lore, gameplay and feeling. mk11 is close but i totally hate these jacqi/cassie/family shit and bitchass dlc characters everywhere, only goodies are interactions between characters at the beginning of round

I played mk11 and I went instantly back to mkx. For me mkx had the best gameplay and kombos
Also it had Takeda and Kotal wasn't low tier
Only problem with MKX is it's an ugly looking game.
