Thanks
Hey, thanks for featuring the dynamic carbon fiber. Your desk looks sleek and durable! ( If you're interested, there is a ton of innovation regarding this material, including ways to recycle it and make it from sustainable plant-based epoxy, too. Some carbon fiber can be 3D printed, (made from plants via biochar processed by pyrolysis in parabolic solar ovens, and plant-based epoxy), that may be a boon to car manufacturing and prosthetics, among other uses. On an industrial scale, the existing carbon fiber in circulation can be recycled with high temperatures. The difference between that, and plant-based epoxy, is that the newer type can be transformed without high heat, and instead: certain chemicals at room temperature. So, that is something to be mindful of. It may not be ideal for all uses, but great for some.)
I've been following Stone Coat for years and when you do how to videos i always learn something new. I'd love to see more of them. I rewatch Mike's videos and always look forward to Mitch's because they both cue in on different techniques and tips. Thank you!
Great comment!!!! Thanks so much for watching for so long! Be sure to subscribe
Will we see Mike again? Don't you have another brother also? I think I remember seeing him on a project, perhaps the full house remodel.
I would like to see how those corners turned out folding the mat around them
That is one dope ass coffee table !!! Nice work Man !!!
Ayyye thanks!
I was hoping something like this would eventually happen. Totally doing this to my workbenches in the garage!
Yes want to see both
Copy that! I'll make a short, u better subscribe now!!!
❤❤❤
I am subscribed have been for a while
me too!
Great video! I was waiting for another carbon fiber video after the red table a few years ago. For some ideas on embedding cloth in epoxy, try searching for 'surfboard glassing' videos. To make the cloth 'smooth over' easier, you might want to make vertical 'relief cuts' like they do when making surfboards. You got this!
Great job, Mitch! 👏 What a spiffy looking coffee/snack area! 🌟 If you added some micas in the resin, would it just hide the pattern or create more interest? I think this is one of the best laminate videos you've made! 👍
I just made me a custom desk with some coat epoxy love it and by far best epoxy I've ever used done a few with your product just ordered 2 more gallons yesterday
This is awesome! Appreciate you taking the time to drop a nice testimonial!!!! U GOT THIS! Shoot me an email and I'll send you a coupon code to save some cash on your next order!!!! mitch@stonecoatcountertops.com

How do you keep the corners from balling up when you fold it under?
I don't see the link for the carbon fiber.
Search it it’s easy to find
Same here. I don't see the link for carbon fiber!
Sorry about that, I added the links to the description! Added them here so you don't need to search!

I got em added!
Thanks! Great project.@@mitchquist
On the smaller high shelf, it seems like you would be able to see the underside if you are sitting down. Would it work to first coat the bottom with epoxy and carbon fiber but only to the first edge, and then do the top and sides, wrapping under to the bottom?
What would be the lightest material that I could epoxy and then use it as a counter top? How heavy would be? I need lightest material as a base as possible.
Would this work on a hollow wood door I use as a desktop and warp the carbonfiber around the edge of the door? any tips it would be my first attempt at stone coat epoxy.
It would work as long as the door is flat and doesn't have the inset panels
Can I use this technique with contact paper???
Yes, decorative foils work great too
cool idea!
How do you know how much undercoat or bonding primer to use on a piece?
Did you use the real or fake carbon fiber?
Nice job, but I'm not a black fan.
Holy God 😮 as someone that works with composites I about crapped my pants. I can think of so many things that would give you the same results for far less waste.... business must be good to be hacking off $60 pieces of cloth.
i wish i wish u kill the annoying repetitive music in the background...video very interesting...end result A+ nice
My main reason for watching this video was to see how you dealt with the rounded corners when laying on the carbon fibre, you completely skipped over that part, why, would it have made this simple video too difficult?
Thats not Starbucks in the background is it?
I get that you want enough product to cover rather than be short in supply then waste time making another batch, but I feel as if with the UTC, you always make too much and end up wasting a lot
I ran over and used this on a bunch of window sills. You're not wrong though! Thanks for watching for so long, appreciate you 🙏
