I appreciate showing the fail and what contributing factors there may have been. Too many people don't appreciate that failure is part of success. Particularly during the learning process. Good job.
Just a bit of advise, a tack clothe works better when it’s fully opened and then lightly balled up, helps activate the adhesive in it. Also when sanding with high grit paper you should use wet, avoids the paper clogging up and causing pig tail scratches in your finish which can show up after polishing since it’s basically gouging into your topcoat.
As a fan of simple tools that make life easier, I think you would benefit from a few different sizes of 'notched' adhesive spreaders, for your gel coat. The notches are small and when the correct size is selected, it'll let you spread the gelcoat around a large area while leaving the right amount behind. This'll let you get the coating over the whole area quicker and prevent extra work needed to fix thin/thick pots.
Honestly what I'm impressed with the most is your ability to not have a gigantic mess, the few times I've delved into composites yielded good results but awful messes hahaha
I think you could make this a lot easier if you wetted the carbon fiber all the way through at first and then used a perforated film with a breather layer under vacuum to get all the excess resin out. Then just quick sanding and you got a nice even surface without these darker spots
Too many people try the AvE editing method these days and just don't accomplish the humor he has with out being funny. That said, thanks for taking the time to film edit and upload this.
You should never have used gelcoat, instead a thin layer of epoxy to establish the wood surface. Once cured you then place the carbon cloth wet and align the weave.
I really like your simple videos, no narration or music. Next time you want a mirror finish on a flat surface just use glass and then bond your laminate to the MDF board.
Or do as you say and lay up on the glass, then add the baseboard and wrap the carbon around it... It's how I would do it, and would use a clear gelcoat or initial layer of epoxy with lightweight glassfibre before laying in the carbon.

At first I thought he was running a very thin piece as a core, but this is more of a laminate that is true carbon fiber. Or that he was using that piece to create a mold. I'm not disappointed, it is a nice looking table, but you get all of the cool looks of carbon fiber but without the lightweight benefits of carbon fiber. Granted he didn't have to lay multiple layers, add in core material, create support structures and bracing, so from a time and cost perspective, it was the best route.
Do you know if I can do this over laminate table top ??
Can we do this without the vacuum seal bag?
ウチのボロテーブルにもカーボン貼ってみようかな〜
うまくできるかは分かりませんけど
amazing table !!!
Where do you buy the carbon fiber paper ?
Hello, Buddy!
I bought materials from a Korean online shop.
However, Korean online shops do not ship overseas.
So I'm going to show you an online shop in the UK.
Maybe you can find what you want.

This was a carbon-fiber wrapped table; not really a carbon fiber table.
