I love the texture of "Forged" carbon fiber. It gives me an idea to do kitchen counter-tops using this method. It has a "Black Granite" quality about it. Looks cool!
Pro tip for ya: When working with MDF, use a sanding sealer on all the surfaces. It’s cheap, and it doesn’t change its shape or properties, but it does “seal” it when pouring resins or epoxies or even painting it. It’s very easy to use, dries fast, and once keyed, provides the same adhesion as the raw MDF in my opinion. Love the channel!
Hello, Buddy! Thank you very much for your advice. I'll try it the next time I work with MDF. I'm will make a fun and informative video. Stay tuned to my channel. Thank you.
@@ECOLAPStudio this "sealer" is just PVA ....in my opinion its waste of time if you aply thick resin / gelcoat and in the same time it is used as release agent for resin etc so.......
This is what I've been planning on doing. Only problem is that it limits where you can screw it and you will also need to apply carbon fiber to the bottom of the table. You will have to create a mechanical lock or use glue to allow screws to be used.
@@vocks85 best case, you would install a metal nut that would be mechanically locked when the carbon fiber is hardened. I just watched this video for a second time and still that forged carbon fiber looks real good! One question regarding the finishing, on this video I see you sanded and then used a cutting compound to get the high gloss shine but I have seen in other videos after sanding people apply 2k clear lacquer. Question is which more durable and better for car interior pieces, sanding and then cutting and buffing the epoxy resin or sanding the then applying the 2k lacquer?
Can someone please explain to me how the hell he got that gloss finish after just using a cutting compound, I mean he had to have used multiple other compounds off camera to get to that
I hope you can help me, is it necessary to use peel ply? Or could it be made without it, even if the finish was different? And if the epoxy gel coat is the same that people use when working fiberglass
great work. try using half the amount of compound. you'll get a better cut and have less chance of pig tailing the epoxy. seriously awesome videos my man. maybe use foam instead for extra weight reduction?
Perfect job, man! Like your videos very much! Can you give us (your subscribers) advice, how to do cylindrical things such as vase, skittle or may be intake manifold pipe by using mold and without damaging original item. Hello, Buddy! Can you make the cylinder into styrofoam? If you can, skin carbon fiber made of styrofoam (requires multiple layers). And styrofoam can be removed with acetone. I hope helpful.
It’s a good idea to use styrofoam. But what if we need to make complicated item which I can’t make out of styrofoam or may be if we need reusable mold?
