      This has been a very detailed well-taught video. I understood every step of the way, with all my questions answered. I so loved that beautiful red cloth used but im thinking that black brings drama, so I may have thought to use black.
      I have a question or so:
      Is this type of cloth that's best associated with using Stone Coat on,
      Or may I head on down to my local craft store/thrift store as the glorious addition to my wooden piece?
      When im ready to create my order of product with you, do you also offer some of the great tools such as that chopped or?

    There are a few things about this project your viewers need to know and be aware of before tackling this project... I took your idea and made my own table, and it looks AMAZING, but I learned some lessons... One) carbon fiber will trap air, big time. I did the thin tack coat before doing my flood coat, and after torching it several times it looked like it was air free, but, I ended up getting pockets of haze caused by tiny air bubbles that were trapped in the carbon fiber that released afterwards. For my next table, I will do two, maybe even 3 skim coats before I flood coat it. Two) carbon fiber will make your product dimple, it's unavoidable because of the texture of the cloth. Prepare to sand and polish the surface...(not a big deal) And finally, the biggest pain of them all, the EDGES! If you intend to have smooth edges, you will have to either do multiple flood coats (I did 6 in total because I love the depth) and let it pour off the edges each time, or, paint the edges multiple times with resin... (I did this as well, when I would do other projects I would mix up a couple extra ounces and brush the sides, I wanted a thick clear layer on the top and sides, so this may be overkill for you) You will always have the bumpy sides because the resin will follow the pattern of the cloth. If you want the sides smooth, you will have to build up the layers thick enough to sand down smooth. When you sand the sides, be careful not to sand too deep into your carbon fiber. This was a great project and I plan to do more tables like this taking the lessons I learned from the first one and making it more efficient and clean.

    The shape of this immediately made me start thinking.... “Oooo my old baby grand piano would look Killer in this treatment!!!” I’d just do the hood with the cloth I think, and try and either match epoxied color tone with the rest of the piano shell or some color combo that marries nicely. That would be a huge job by so so beautiful in the end.

    Great video, great tips! Here is a tip for you... I’ve found that a diamond tile disk works amazing for cutting the cured FRP. They last a very long time “same cut wheel 4 years now” and are much safer than the fiber disks IMO as they won’t fracture and fly apart if put in a slight bind! Thanks again, James

      Which produces a electric guitar that has the rich melodies of an acoustic at the flip of a switch

    First I'm not big into wood working (I'm a bit above novice); my wife wants a custom table 36" x 72" (in her sewing room) to place a large "self-healing" cutting mat on.
    What I'm thinking is a carbon fiber top, with two pedestal legs that could include drawers and/or shelves that I can fabricate (i.e. weld)
    Is the MDF the best option? (how thick) that will not warp or twist, and I guessing maybe some square tubing underneath to prevent flexing?
    I've also contemplated using some 0.5" stainless steel flat-bar around the edges to create a "corral" that will hold the cutting mat in place.
    Any thoughts, ideas, wisdom, etc... Would be most appreciated.

    I wonder what an electric guitar would sound like made out of this? Looks amazing!

    • @quicksilver1615
      @quicksilver1615 5 лет назад

      Shable .It would depend on the material used( mdf vs. quality hardwood) It may effect the resonance of the guitar. I was thinking the same thing watching this.

    • @thomaschristopherwhite9043
      @thomaschristopherwhite9043 5 лет назад +1

      The sound of an electric guitar doesn't depend on the material of the body.. The sound is dictated by the pick ups you use.

      Make a guitar body shaped table.

    • @Hellsong89
      @Hellsong89 5 лет назад

      @@thomaschristopherwhite9043 Different materials have different resonance frequency depending mainly by its mass, how hard it is and multitude of other things, but mainly those two. Differences between two wood materials can effect how any instrument plays, simply cause those are the body of the instrument that are holding the strings. On electric guitar this is not THAT important per say, but you can hear the difference if material along the frame that hold the strings are different. Now does hobbyist hear that difference on electric guitar.. i doubt that, but professional musician will. On acoustic instrument even hobbyist can hear it.

    When you do the black sheet, you should do blue, red or any vibrant color pearls so it will bleed through the fibers. It will shimmer with light.

    Dude. Dust collection. I LOVE this project and enjoyed you as a presenter, but couldn’t get past the dust hanging in the air and on everything. MDF is horrible stuff, please use whatever dust collection you can manage.

      Using MDF is a crime against humanity !!
      I really can't complain though, it's his table, and it turned out gorgeous !!
      I would hate to see one of the table leg screws bust out, leaving a crater in the sawdust & glue that MDF is made out of !!
      At least with plywood or real full grain wood, you can fix it easier, plus it structurally stronger.
      I'm grateful for the carbon fiber furniture finishing tutorial though...

    Great video, In this video I learned 1.) that the combine A & B = 3 oz per sqr/ft. I was not sure if that was 3 oz of A and 3 oz of B (total of 6 oz) , You finally answered this question in this video that combined A & B = 3 oz. 2.) Learned that you torch for bubbles 3 times, and that you don't sand the final coat. Again Great video.
