Truck 50 Assists on Strasburg 2 Alarm Building Fire *Helmet Cam*

- On scene footage begins at 11:15
Truck 50 responding to assist Station 05 (Strasburg) as the 3rd due truck on a 2 alarm fire at Hershey Farms Restaurant. The Tower was originally sent to the A/B corner to set up, but with already 2 trucks set up out front, Chief 50 attempted to find a way to get the Truck around to the rear. The decision was made to shut down the 5" supply for 30 seconds so it could be disconnected to get the Truck across, and then hooked back up. After setting up on side C, we made our way to the roof to investigate the possibility of making a trench cut to stop the fire spread. However, with fire already consuming more than half the building, as well as there being multiple heavy HVAC units on that part of the roof, it was determined there was no use or safe way to do it. After getting water, the Truck flowed for some time, along with Truck 05 and Truck 63, until the bulk of the fire was knocked down. As we arrive on scene you can also see Engine 502 laying a supply line to a nearby hydrant. Also shortly after arrival you can hear the message announcing for all units to evacuate the building. Truck 50 is a 2003 Pierce Dash.

FAQs-
Q: "Where is this?"
A: Our fire house is located in the town of Willow Street, just south of Lancaster City, Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
Q: "What is the spinning thing?"
A: That is called the "Roto-Ray," it is a spinning light designed to catch drivers attention.
Q: "Why is the call so far away?" or "Why does it take so long to get there?"
A: Many of our responses, or at least many of the ones that are uploaded are responding to assist other departments. Usually another firehouse can be seen or is passed by who is already on the call. We can reach the far end of our first due in West Lampeter Twp within 5 minutes, and in Providence Twp about 7.
Q: "What camera are you using?"
A: For dash cams I use a GoPro Hero 7, helmet cam videos I use a FireCam 1080

@Alex McC hi there i would have wanted to see your vid's
Can you make a new account
@Alex McC cool thanks very much
As a firefighter in Australia, my hats of to you guys! You have some badass fire trucks over there!!
Are You Apart Of A BFB Or FRS?
And thank you for helping us fight our big forest fires in Alberta this year. Your help is much appreciated
Don’t things catch on fire if you sneeze on them over there?
We think the same about models outside of the US. I look at some of the European trucks that are really just repurposed military trucks (think what you see on airfields) and just gush.
@@goodgremlinmedia2757funny enough I just read an article the friction from a fart is number one cause of fires in Australia.
As a German volunteer firefighter, I find it extremely interesting to see my comrades from other countries at work. Greetings from Germany and as we say locally "all the time good hose".
Was wondering why they don't have "Schlauchbrücken" to bridge the pressurized hoses instead of disconnecting. I assume theres a reason?
@@takarasan Some departments do, some don't. Often rural departments won't have them due to the small population and people can find another way around a block with little traffic. It does make hose setup harder as you must be careful.
For cities, departments have so much on the trucks already. Not all departments choose to carry "Schlauchbrücken" (hose bridge) on every truck. You would think our bigger trucks have more storage, but I am always amazed with how much gear you guys pack into your trucks.
And you're not suprised that they're not even wearing masks?
@@Drako3215 Except near the beginning, when they briefly stand in the smoke, I don't understand what you mean. Not everyone here wears a mask either. In the "vehicle staging area" it can sometimes happen that smoke is blown away by the wind for a short time. And the two in the ladder's basket have masks on when they are no longer in the smoke-free area. Otherwise send a TimeStamp what exactly you mean by “don’t wear a mask”

That truck is hauling it down the road. Lancaster County is beautiful. Thank you for keeping it safe, I have so much respect for you.
Ive driven on those roads countless times, and I can't imagine the skill and guts required to drive a truck that big so quickly through there.
Need more off street parking 😊
I just hit 20 years in the fire service. I've served with Riverside County (CA), San Diego Rural, Tombstone (AZ) Fire, and am now with East Knox County (KY) VFD. STAY SAFE OUT THERE, BROTHERS AND SISTERS! THANK ALL Y'ALL FOR DOING WHAT YOU DO!!
This is a beautiful town.
Respect to the construction flagger for stopping traffic when hearing sirens.
Holy wow that is a far distance! Huge respect!
wow, what an incredible video. glad it looks like no one was hurt. that was a serious battle. and, thanks for always answering everyone's questions!
Thank you!

Thanks for sharing this video. I am always interested in seeing how fire departments approach and battle different types of fires. My brother is an EMT in Shrewsbury, NJ so I get to hear some interesting stories. Thanks also for telling us what the spinning thing was on the front of the truck. 😊 You answered one of my questions. Stay safe, be careful out there.
Thank you!
@@Fire-Rescue50 is your company strictly volunteer ? When I was stationed at Fort Carson I was a volunteer fire fighter with Hanover in Colorado thank you for your hard work and dedication🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@Fire-Rescue50 hello
@Fire-Rescue50 12:55 were the trucks blowing the air-horn for fire fighters in the building to evaluate if the didn't here there radios?
@@MilesNewmoyeryes blowing of the air horn either multiple bursts or long blare is used as an aide to inform firefighters inside who may otherwise not have heard radio traffic. The loud drawn out air horn can be better heard and needs no explanation to those inside. (If you hear it GET OUT).
The decision made by those in charge. That firefighters inside were unable to effectively get to where the main body of fire was located and apply water changed operations from aggressive interior attack to a more defensive master stream attack. Allowing for direct water application onto the greatest amount of fire.
Those streams of water can cause significant harm if sprayed on people which is why the building gets evacuated before they are used.
Maybe it's because it's a rural town, but bravo to the drivers for having spacial awareness and mostly getting out of the way immediately. Great use of the Q! An incredible start to an incredible video.
Crazy how much water it takes to put the fire out. Those truck aerials are awesome.
After growing up with volunteers I must admit as a Pennsylvanian you boys are great. Keep up the great work boys.
Thank you!

@fjb3544 don't start with lgbtq+. Most firefighters are men's, with some women. Being lgbtq+ gives nothing. Only courage, initiative and more are what matter.

Hey Brothers and Sisters, I thank you for the "birds-eye" view.
Great work by all units involved and all back in the barn safe. I'm going to miss this place. So many good times with family there. Hope they can rebuild.
Thank you! I hope so too, I know they plan on it
they did a very good job ,that fire was huge

Amazing! My brother is a firefighter and i am super proud of you guys, much love from Australia
My love and appreciation are out to those in 🖤❤️🖤 I have been thankful enough to do things on law enforcement side and also ride along with local fire departments. I worked with ARC for I don’t even know how many years served as assistant chief. I have seen y’all’s blood sweat and tears. I can say first responders have the hardest jobs. Much ❤
I've been waiting on this since I read about the fire and saw Truck 50 there!
Too All Fire Company's that assisted in this Building Fire , You All Did An Outstanding Excellent Job Brother's And Sister's !!!!!
Thanks!
You're Welcome!
Retired volunteer firemen here from what use to be station 211 Southern Manheim Twp . I miss the days when we went out to a call we were all one not one better than the others.❤to all my brothers of my brothers and sisters of old man fire
It looked like you pulled the bucket back after knowing the fire was under you. If so, very smart move.
Sure did. Thanks!
Thanks for the great footage. That was quite the fire load. You did what you could. I'm glad you backed off that roof when you did.
Thank you!
I wonder: how bad does a fire have to be to activate a 3rd-alarm?
@@Belchmaster41 depends. If you don’t have a lot of manpower responding, not too big. If you’re in an area with lots of available manpower, it can be big.
Nice footage from a different viewpoint atop the tower ladder. It's amazing how much water is used to control a fire like that. Good job by all.
Thank you!

this is obe of the best videos i have seen its not chopped or butchered keep up the great work my deteriorating vision has prevented me from fulfilling my dresms to be a firefighter so here i sm on youtube just watching what i was never able to accomplish and remindin every firefighter around the world to be safe yall are the everyday heroes eho wear SCBAs and not capes
Вот смотрю из России и как приятно смотреть на чистую природу. Порядок на дорогах. Водители все уступают.
I’m an Aerial Painter (ladder) at Pierce. Awesome to see aerial trucks in action!
Sounds like the tower got some new horns on it! Good to see the brothers at work in another state
Horns aren't new. They were retuned. They need a new powercall though.
A lot of good things to say about this video. They really got to blow the carbon out of the engine on that run. This is only the second time I saw a video from the bucket. They know how to use the power of the water and the stream. One of the best videos in a long time.
Thank you!
@@Fire-Rescue50 that was some great driving
@@andrewp7509 It sure was great use of siren and airhorns
Very good showing of a Firefights view and the attack views of fire , how it responds . Great footage of a bad situation . Cooperation from area services all came to same efforts. Good job !
Thank you!
That's was an awesome ride you took us on in the beginning! Nice driving!
Thank you!
First thing I noticed was how absolutely beautiful that part of Pennsylvania is. It reminds me of some areas of Nova Scotia (i am in Canada). Good video! It was interesting to see a first person perspective when responding to a call.
Many of those houses would be worth £1m if they were in southern England. They are really beautiful and with so much land.
This video is excellent in contents and the team work.
I’m a Medic and I watch the fireman closely for signs of need.
So proud of Reese brothers.

Talvez es demasiado tarde por este centario y soamente queria escribimres que hacen un trabajo espectacular que Dios los.bendiga y los guarde siempre, excelente video excelente contenido Sudos desde Guatemala
Fantastic footage. With that many HVAC units on the roof it makes it harder for the firemen. Have a great day ❤️🙂⚘️.
Thank you!
I'm quite fascinated by the siren, so it goes higher and louder when speeding up, very cool
Most Q2 sirens have a pedal attached near the engineers feet. Hes most likely using his other foot to push down on the pedal.
11 minutos donde no le aflojaron el acelerador. Mis respetos para todos mis hermanos héroes!
I have such respect in all ya'll do and the hard work it takes.🤗
Thank you for sharing the video. It was interesting. It is unfortunate that in most cases, something bad has or is happening for you to be called out. But thank God you are there to help others
Take care and be safe.
Very Cool. Love the view from the tower ladders perspective. Thank you.
We appreciate all of your fires fighters
Awesome!! never seen from this point of view before! thank you!
Thank you!
Watching from Dodge City, Kansas! Love how you show everything instead of a snippet here and a snippet there. Keep em coming!
Thank you!
A fantastic introduction into fire fighting , bless you ALL .
I'm so glad they keep using those old sirens on fire engines/trucks/ladders/etc, the good ones can be heard so well.
Some regular sirens you just cannot HEAR in new cars. Built to be quiet, but that's a double edged sword...
God bless you 🙏 greetings from Reading Pennsylvania 🇵🇷 my Family watched the video from Puerto Rico Very grateful for their work to the Police, Firefighters and Paramedics God bless you
Wow. That fire seemed very stubborn. The residents of that community are well protected and fortunate to have such a well equiped fire fighting de9artment.
It's amazing how people either don't know or don't care to get tf out of the way when there is a firetruck behind them with the sirens blazing. 4:47
I was gonna say dude was driving way too fast then realized my playback speed was at 1.25 😂
You should see how fast he was going with a playback speed of 2x. 😆
My full respect for your work ! God bless you all !
driving with the siren screamingggg as you see the smoke get closer and bigger, just gets me pumped up, I could run thru a wall💪🏽💪🏽
As former firefighter in California we respect every engine like it was our own
Thank you for the great work everyone, I don’t know if this is allowed if not please remove, I just want to say thank you to all the spouses who have to wait for their other half to come home safe any kind of emergency personnel it’s not easy I do know from experience being once a wife of a fire fighter,
Absolutely, thank you!
Excellent driving and use of siren and horn. The use of towers was crucial for a quick knockdown. Great team effort 😁👌👌👌👌👏👏👏👏👏❤️🇺🇸
Fantastic footage. All hands caught a break with the weather.Normally this time of the year out in Lancaster county there's snow on the ground, wind and freezing temps. And what a ride.
that was quite a commute.
thanks for sharing and thank you for your service!!!
Driver/Engineer still got them skillz, that's a top heavy machine he's getting around them corners at speed but safely in control.
How horrific a fire. How amazing the men and women firefighters are. Indeed, I hope for rebuilding. I'd go to Strasburg often so some of this looks familiar. My father worked on the SRR. His dream retirement job, on the railroad.
9:29 that truck driver was like “oh shit, a fire truck”
Insane how the fire dose not want to die. You would think absolutely Dowsing it with water would put it out in some areas. But no. It’s instantly evaporated do from the insane heat. This is wild to see. And even crazier to be the one putting it out. Absolute respect to you and all in you service!🇺🇸❤️🙏🇺🇸
Been wanting to see some aerial ops. Thanks for your service. 🚒👍
Let the q fall. It's variable tone is what cuts through. Not just slamming the button down and holding it there.
I've got a fever...and the only prescription is more Q siren! :) great video
Haha, thank you!
I love a good defensive op! Lowered that pond level that day. Great work by Truck 50.
You have had some great bangers of video’s lately. Keep it up. Love watching.

Excellent Video guys....Nice to see a Tower Truck in action... Wish we had cams back in the day like this..... Be safe Brothers... Craig Truck 33 Engine 12

I went into a house fire once as an LEO to check for more occupants. Unit before me had pulled a quadriplegic man out already. I was low to the ground and still couldn't see crap. Nobody else was in there but man i could see nothing. Couple more steps and i wouldnt have been able to find my way out. Even crawling on the floor the smoke is overwhelming. This was an arson case where neighbors were fighting. Drunk neighbor lit the fire and the paralyzed dude knew the house was on fire but couldnt move. We were close due to being out there earlier on a previous dispute earlier.
5:40 "I don't think it's a stove fire" yeah I am inclined to agree lol
This driver has skills.......encouraged to see most motorists pulling to the side. Firefighters rock! Brave folks doing a dangerous job. Amazing the volume of water being put on the fire and it just doesn’t want to lay down. What was in that building to burn so intense?
That's what I want to know, and how it started
That’s a massive fire good job guys! Great work!
Impressive fire! Congratulations to all firefighters! Greetings from France!
After living in Texas for years, it is nice to see well maintained homes and properties.
Super video. Loved when turned corner you saw the header. That's why you use smoth bore on elevated stream. I guess some of the water runoff went back to the pond and was recycled. Good job Truck 50, and IC.
Thank you!
Central NJ volly here. Great job by all companies. Really sad to see this. This area of Lancaster is full of friendly hard working folks. Never ate at this place but it’s right up the road from the hotel I stay at every year. Hopefully the family can rebuild and bounce back from this
75% of all fire departments in the US are volunteer. That is a fact that most do not know. George Washington, our first US president was a volunteer fireman.
What is it with all the vehicles not pulling over and stopping? I can understand being caught by surprise on a curve or over a hill, but early on, they were meeting so many vehicles that had to have seen them coming, and they never even so much as slowed down. Here in Indiana, that's an automatic ticket.
All I want to say, is thanks.
You firefighters risk your lives for us to be safe, you guys go to unstable places and at any time. Disaster could Happen. Thank you ❤
Thank you for the share. You need to do more of these ride along videos . I loved it. I was scared when people wouldn’t get out of your way . I’d love to see more of these videos. So exciting . Good job as well. Again thank you so much for sharing.
What surprises me is all of these depths. are always so far away from the fires.
Are there not any closer ?
@@jeffbecker9809 We were the 3rd due truck company. This means there were 2 ladder trucks closer. So a 10 minute drive is not long at all considering that
Thank you!
And they are not using the sirens when not need except the low key annoying one….. wish more of my fellow ems would learn that
It's really cool that fire fighters are starting to put gopro footage of calls :)
They need to be cautious tho. They can't make videos public if taken inside the property, without the home owners approval.

Jesus, what kind of fire load was in this building? That's a lot of high quality H2O on the red stuff.
I was wondering the same thing!
I'd imagine driving the truck gets incredibly difficult when you can see the smoke in the distance. Hard to focus on the road and keeping safe when you can see what you need to get to.
Great video that i just watched again. I loved being part of the bucket looking over the roof....🤗🤗
I have always wanted to be a firefighter since I was little. Is there a way you guys can like show more of what you do on a daily basis as a firefighter?
man yall had that Q screamin!!
Great work! It's tough when there's so much heat below that you can't get to.

This just popped onto my feed. I remember the day this happened my brother saw it on the news and sent it to me. My parents actually took us there just a few years ago on a family trip for the grandkids, Whoopie pie Weekend
Im Algerian intervention hse i work like this tooo im so proud of this work i mean everything is perfect 💗 i wish i can work with you guys
these trucks are bad ass. hats off to everyone behind the wheel.
Good job to you guys for good work you do. But I must say the driver of the truck sure does know how to fly he must have confidence in those streets and roads me I'd be worrying about somebody pulling out in front of me lol
I was in the building to the left at 10:40, I remember seeing the truck in this video pass and somebody getting rear ended to the right at the upcoming intersection
