- Yesterday, the company handled a 2 alarm house fire in our first due, which started in a detached garage. Engine 502 and 54-2 arrived simultaneously and stretched multiple lines to knock down the fire in the garage and the house. The fire in the house was contained mostly to the siding outside, the attic, and the 2 rooms directly against the garage. Crews worked for about 3 hours before clearing. We were assisted by members from Lampeter, West Willow, New Danville, Quarryville, Lancaster Township, Blue Rock Fire Rescue, Strasburg, Conestoga, Manheim Township Fire Rescue, Ronks, Gordonville, and Reamstown fire companies. Thank you to Rescue 80 (Columbia) for standing by in our station. Willow Street Fire Company. Taken 12/17/22
Engine 502 is a 2010 Pierce Arrow XT

FAQs-
Q: "Where is this?"
A: Our fire house is located in the town of Willow Street, just south of Lancaster City, Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
Q: "What is the spinning thing?"
A: That is called the "Roto-Ray," it is a spinning light designed to catch drivers attention.
Q: "Why is the call so far away?" or "Why does it take so long to get there?"
A: Many of our responses, or at least many of the ones that are uploaded are responding to assist other departments. Usually another firehouse can be seen or is passed by who is already on the call. We can reach the far end of our first due in West Lampeter Twp within 5 minutes, and in Providence Twp about 7.
Q: "What camera are you using?"
A: For dash cams I use a GoPro Hero 7, helmet cam videos I use a FireCam 1080 - Авто/Мото
even santa was out there putting in work with the boys
fireeee
😂
A chief at the line? Wow, rare to see that. Bad fire got quickly under control. Good job!
Yeah I liked that two, ready if needed but still commanding
Pretty! @@mrarmyant2014
Thank you, all of you, for what you do. March 5 1980 my house blew up and burned down killing my roommate. I was asleep on the couch and it saved my life as the blast went right over me. To this day I have not lived in or even slept in a house with gas. It is a bad thing to wake up to. That said, I am impressed by what you do and grateful. Thank you again and be safe.
May your roommate resy in peace
Sorry to hear about that. Thank you
1980 i was 18yrs young.
May your roommate rest in peace and may he/she be in heaven
I'm so sorry. My dads house is natural gas and it scares me!
Great work by station 50, and everyone else there. Most of been a huge adrenaline rush to catch a large fire right by your station.
Thank you!
Good job. Glad to see salvage going during the overhaul. It's so important for good customer service. ESPECIALLY at Christmas Time.
This was an exceptional response and knock down. I have seen video before of professional fire department that let a garage fire take down a dwelling, multiple vehicles and damaged a neighboring structure... because they all just took their sweet time gearing up and laying out their lines and couldn't be bothered to really go. You guys were right off that truck and getting those lines out immediately to save as much as possible of the house.
Thank you!
As a career FF and former volunteer I completely agree with you not only did they get the line into play extremely fast they ignored he raging garage fire to protect the exposure. If they would have gone to the garage first they could have a well involved attic fire on the delta/side 4 exposure. This is how our crew operates, that’s why it always blows my mind when rigs are on scene of a simple residential occupancy for 4-5-6 minutes with no water application. Shows a well trained crew career or volunteer can operate seamlessly.
@@schmegle1 I looked in cad, the call was dispatched at 10:39, and we were on scene at 10:45. The other unit was already on the street doing a pr event
@@schmegle1did you not see Santa?
@@schmegle1 how was this not a great response? Because they have an assembly time once dispatched? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
I am so happy that you guy pulled that line to the back. You guys saved the house.
Such a beautiful response guys!!! That community is lucky to have a quality and capable department
Good deployment of lines, I can tell these guys practice, nice stop on house, looks repairable, good effort protecting the owners contents, this is often overlooked. Time of day and manpower is everything. Keep up the great work at Willow Street.
8:39 An asst. chief donning his scba and manning a line? This is a rare sight, so cool.
Awesome work guys! Greetings from a Dutch volunteer firefighter.
Seeing this video is exactly why I'm using flane resistant materials in building my house and detached garage. I am having the painters spray all the studding in both the house and garage with 3 coats of Flame Off. I am using type C drywall, 3/4 " fire rated plywood on the exterior and roof, and Rockwool insulation.
Love how fast you all got setup and water on that, so many times (other departments) I see 1-3 minutes before anything starts, but you all are clearly well trained!
Engine Company 502 and Rescue 50 You All , including Other Fire Department's Assisting did an outstanding excellent great job!!!!!
Saw Santa there for a sec... Awesome video these guys were all over that fire in no time.
Thanks!
Helmet cam video was outstanding 👍 Definitely showed the chaos that goes into fighting fires.
Отличная работа,я из россии но вы меня просто поражаете професионализмом👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Very impressive line deployment. Well done all.
Great intervention. I wouldn't have done it better. Be proud fellas
thank you for your service you safe lives and building
Thank you for your service
Thanks for everything you and your fellow firefighters do for us!! Stay safe!!
Great job guys. The wind definitely looked like it wasn't helping, but you kept the exposure from being largely effected. And got the fire put out quickly.
CONGRATS GUYS, VERY NICE JOB, GOD BLESS YOU ALL
Thrse firefighters are very professional and competent.
You guys were fast, you guys did great.
With the volume of fire presenting, and a water supply secured, why not stretch a 2.5 with a smoothbore initially and punch it in the mouth with 265 to 300 gpm then use the 1.75
Takes longer and less user friendly. I will take a 1 3/4 over a 2.5 any day of the week
Great job, aggressive attack and quick knockdown.
Thank you!
Chief still loves to get in there and hit it. ❤❤
What a well trained crew!
All Volunteer
Awesome work guys we appreciate your dedication and sharing these videos. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
Thank you!
Assistant Chief or not... never give up your nozzle! :P
This is an outstanding video! Through the helmet cam, it shows you are in the right profession! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you!
Volunteer too
love the chief getting in on the action too!
You have inspired me to achieve my future career. Keep up the great work guys!
Great! Thank you!
Ace, I was glad to see your response about fire fighting being a future career for you. Thess guys and gals have big hearts to do what they do. My uncle was a fire chief and I really looked up to him. I remember every holiday dinner he would have his radio by his side, in fact he had that radio with him 24/7. Anyway good luck to you Ace and many thanks to all the fire fighters out there.
6:56 that glare is insane. i’ve never seen a fire in person but this fire hits me heavy
The videos that get me are when the flames look purple on their cams. I don't think it happens here though.
Nice Video! Great work by all the crews!
Thank you!
Great job guys
I dont think Santa's going down that chimney 🤣. Were they getting ready for a Santa run?
Yes they were doing a Santa run taking Santa through their first due.
Nice video. I'd say that was a very aggressive approach. Job well done. Merry Christmas.
The fastest deployment inch n half ever seen
Just a suggestion the deck gun might have been appropriate for quick knock down And some 21/2 lines. Delta Exposure is the main priority and opening the roof on the house. But I’m just watching a video. It’s easy to quarterback here. But good work to all.
Very impressive work! Great salvage op (almost non-existent these days).
My only suggestion is that you all learn and practice “Transitional Attacks”. Big fire require big water, big time and fast, since fire doubles every 30 seconds. I saw that you have a TFT Blitz nozzle, but didn’t use it first (suggest preconnecting it).
Good stop on the extension to the house.
Over all though, good job!
Exactly. I get the 1 3/4" line to stop the spread to the house, but the line to the front of the garage should've absolutely been a 2 1/2" or portable monitor
Even Santa was on scene
This is the same this that happened to my dad he got a call for a 3 story housing that was on fire on Christmas Eve sadly they lost the whole house on the best day ever
Good stop Brothers, and Sisters!
NICE KNOCK DOWN BROTHERS AND SISTERS BE SAFE
Santa and his elves made it on scene I see.
You guys sure turn right a lot out of your station. maybe it's best to live on the left side XD
Awesome job brothers and sisters keep up the great work!!! Awesome video!!
most vids dont show the salvage overhaul stage. very neat
Great job and video is high quality 👌💯
And the Assistant chief was actively involved with getting water on the house and garage until being relived
GREAT VIDEO ! DAMN FINE ATTACK ! BLESS YOU ALL !🇺🇲
I am not used to seeing melted houses, vinyl siding has not ever been an option anywhere I have lived either due to wildfire hazard, or simply due to ambient heat plus the sun making it run. That house looked like it was built very recently, such a shame to lose it.
After the soaking you gave that firewood, it will be a year before it is useful ;p
I like how they start, then stop putting water on the fire and keep trading off so everyone there gets a chance to play with a hose........
2:21 there’s a guy in a freaking Santa suit.
Great job There on the Initial attack of the fire keep up the good work overall great video keep them coming thanks
Thank you!
Love when they watch it burn with the hose in their hand. Almost like they want the fire to get bigger so they can put it out.
Lol when
First when I’m the backyard and shut the water down and watch it for a bit and every other fire video you watch and if your a volunteer fireman there is no denying it
@marcredmond6626 Hard to understand what you're saying with that grammar, but I think I get the gist. If that's what you believe, that's fine; It's not like we didn't save the house or anything
So you go after my grammar that’s because you have no argument to what I said and you know it exist. So go back to the dictionary and try to come up with an intelligent argument .
@@marcredmond6626 The only thing they're letting burn is your mouth, honestly.
Ah yes the I have a white hat and I'm going to throw my weight around kind of chief from 60... I could tell it pissed your asst chief off and I know the feeling.. I've had it done to me but I wasn't as calm about it... why pull people off a handline that is suppressing and extinguishing active fire just to give yourself and one of your guys hose time . ... I'll never understand it ... either way great job getting the 1 3/4 to the back and extinguishing the exposure building before it was a total loss... strong work gentlemen
Thank you! And he was told by our Chief to relive us so that we could get other tasks done inside the house
@@Fire-Rescue50 judging by the reaction of the asst he found out this info after the fact 😆
@@kartracer5g229 hahaha you would be correct. News to both of us
@Fire-Rescue50 isn't that always fun command makes a decision and we look like the ding dongs lol
Great work, have a safe and merry Christmas
Thank you!
Great stop brothers and sisters !!!!! That wind and structure’s being so close together made the fire ground a real bitch to fight !!!!!
2:17 Ol santa lol
Great job, thank you for everything you do. Happy holidays.
Thank you!
Omg helmet cam!
Quickest response time ever lol
Firefighter santa came ti help
Great videos man keep it up
2:14 Santa is have a not so merry time 😂
good line placement --looks like to wind wasnt your friend
Santa beat the engine there. He is always jumping calls.
Them flyin' deer are fast, lol!
Good stop
Awesome job , and great video!
Thank you!
Looks like Santa Clause came to save the day!😂
minute and a half to first water, good drill. Put down line go here, put down line go ther,e looks like bad play manual. Maybe there were several cameras mixed together? Got get it on the fire and KEEP IT THERE.
Even Santa was there
Was that elf about to pull a bumper line?
Nice stop. I can feel the physical taxation from here. Looked like an ass kicker.
Sooooo at 12:33 I see a white fire helmet on the ground in the rubble #54 on it. ? we trying to "salt" our helmet??
First video I've seen where the chief is on the end of an attack line.
When you a Volunteer and work needs done, don't wait around for union approval
2:16
TF? Is that santa and an elf pulling hose?
They were taking Santa around on the fire truck, and usually Santa is a fire fighter from that station.
Yeah! XD
2:22 is that Santa claus 😂😂
Great stop , but I didn’t see a crew going in ? How soon did a crew make entry to the residences ?
Fast moves and aggressive, but the wrong lines. A fire of that intensity should be 2 1/2 to blast and knock down the main fire. In the video it is easy to see the lack of pressure and flow from the 1 3/4 or 1 1/2 in use. If one guy is operating a line there is not enough flow or pressure. Also fog nozzles allow to much air flow. Use solid stream tips to attack that type of heat.
Looks like for a VFD that you folks have yourshittogether
Do you have any idea what started the fire? Seems like alot of fires start in garages and I wonder if most of those fires were due to a vehicle inside that started most of those.
What is Santa Claus doing there at 2:18 lmao
Lol the santas walking around
Chief wanted some nozzle time 😂
Do y’all have to ride a truck to scene? Being that close to station, did you have to wait for a full crew?
My favorite thing about firefighters is that they don't violate citizens civil rights on a daily basis.
I'm sorry, what?? Assistant Chief has a massive beard!?!?
Should have led off on the garage with a 2 1/2 and then worked the breezeway to the house with 1 3/4.
That was a short travel to the house
I saw the problem at first. All of those white helmets!!
Santa came to fight the fire
Is that the chief on the nozzle?
Was 54 out on a parade? The engineer was dressed as Santa?
Yes they were doing a Santa run haha
Homeowner would have been better off with a green line😂😂😂
Not critiquing, just sheer curiosity, why is a white helmet on the knob with that many black helmet’s standing around right behind him?
Great work on speed, job assignments and getting the wet stuff on the red stuff. Well done on the exposure protection/extinguishment also. Training is what makes the process successful and you guys did an excellent job.
Cause he's probably a mutual aid dept and gets a chance to have fun again
Just because they have a white helmet does not mean they are the IC. In many departments, lieutenants, captains, deputy chiefs, and PIOs wear a white helmet. Any one of them might get in on the action.
@@EightiesTV I understand they most likely aren’t the IC. I’ve just never seen a chief jump on knob when there’s like 6 black helmets standing right next to him. I totally get it if there was no manpower to operate a line running whoever you have. Like I said, not critiquing, just wondering. They did a fantastic job with knock and job assignments. Super clean. I like learning about what and why others do what they do to improve my own operations and situational awareness skills. We’re an ever learning industry and should absorb as much as we can.
