Hi, I have a lot of respect and always pray for the firefighters in the united states. what really gets me angry is when you all are enroute to a fire that certain people in NYC just don't want to move their vehicles. now if it's very tight quarters and there isn't any place for them to move over to I understand that. but, what I don't understand is: why do some people just ignore the fact that you all need to get to a fire or a rescue? God bless all of you firefighters in NYC,
Also I'm amazed by the number of units I see in these videos that are marked up with tape like Ladder 16 here is. Is that just a spare truck that's in service while the "real" L16 is being repaired?
@@vfdskid7834 ah well that’s a spare rig from 2002. L16’s frontline piece was out of service for maintenance at the time. That rig is rotated around the city and could be with a company for a day or a month or a year. Duct tape is usually the easiest and most cost efficient way to mark them.
So I notice that when they show up to a fire some of the firefighter go into the fire and some stand outside next to the trucks, why is that ? R they like reserve ?
It’s organized chaos. Every single firefighter on the scene has a specific job ie: can man, roof man, hose man, backup etc.....they will go to investigate the incident with a certain number of firefighters and as the rest of the responders arrive they wait until they get a report back and will go into action once they know exactly what they have. It's NYC. Nobody uses indicators. And its rather pointless if anyone does, because there's a vision problem caused by something in the water, resulting in a rare form of color blindness; nobody that lives in NYC sees any shade of amber or yellow, whether it's warning lights, traffic signals, road markings, or turn indicators.
