Biggest issue is the price, they didn't fix that.
Gm has to fix the designed problems of the old generation by refreshing. So old problem is fixed , hello. New problem. Then dealer plays the I don't know what's causing your issue. After you read 2k complaints Bout it online. 200 diagnostic fee. Only to get the " unable to replicate customer complaint" really there 6 on lot with same issue for sale idiot
@@moth450It’s not just Chevy, it’s the whole industry. It wasn’t long ago, there was a plethora sub 20k new cars to choose from. Now there’s only like 3 and they all suck. And if you want a true truck based full size SUV you are paying a minimum of 50k for a base model. It’s F*cking outrageous!
Nice
Why would they? People buy them.
It must not cost more than $40k
When he said they fixed the biggest issue I thought they lowered the price
The price was never an issue. It’s actually a bit cheaper than some of its competitors.
Piano black will look good on the outside until you scrape it with the first snow brush 😂
Rubbin is racing.
Addressed the three primary issues: the button shifter, the tablet infotainment screen, and the absence of the Duramax option for the off-road versions. I assume GMC will get the same changes in the AT4.
Why make such an issue about a shifter on an automatic? You put it in gear and forget about it.
@@krane15 the issue with any of the electronic shifters is that you cant move the vehicle if the engine isn't running. The transmission has to be making pressure to release park. Big issue when they need towed or moved into shop not running
@@krane15 I remember when it was first released people had a problem with it, if only from a design standpoint. I was meh about it.
@Anthony-bj5md Um, Sir . . . this is a Wendy's.
@Anthony-bj5mdyuck...
What is the obsession with off-road marketing now? Every single commercial and unveiling shows people going up mountains and sand dunes. Even Honda and Mazda.
Tbh I agree. Been noticing this alot lately when 90% of the market don't even use those cars for that lol and most wouldn't be great at it cause of the fwd bias awd ones also. Guess they're filling in the excuse of them being lifted hatchbacks or oversized trucks and throwing them offroad to appeal to people.
Because marketing now is feelings based and they are selling the “idea” that you will go explore and have adventures but in reality you’ll get stuck immediately and your wife will hate you.
I think as the market gets more competitive manufacturers have been leaning more into “enthusiast” vehicles since that’s what gets people the most excited / opening their wallets. People also want a vehicle that can do it all and more people are cross shopping vehicles that don’t necessarily compete directly. Want a Bronco but have a bigger family? Well here’s a Tahoe with the Z71 package so you don’t feel like you’re missing out too much. All Chevy has to do is offer an off road variant of an existing vehicle they make to reach another segment of buyers. It’s just business at the end of the day. Vehicles are an emotional purchase, a lot of people forget that. Nobody “needs” a new car period.
@@StraightFaces I get offering it but that’s literally all you see now. There is no way 99% of people want and need an off road vehicle. Why does everyone need a bronco or something similar?
@@RickT3 exactly lol
Once they become available, you guys should definitely get a diesel Z71 for a long term test
@Anthony-bj5mdyuck
💯
that doesn't make any sense.. stupid really.. that diesel is already out , long term in 1500.. , you think it will break more or less in a Tahoe ???
@@reserva120 more with me driving it. 🤣
Has GM fixed the lifter failure issues in the 5.3 and 6.2 liter engines?
No. Only a handful of 2021 gmc and Chevy with the 5.3 that didn’t have afm put in.
GM garbage AFM/DFM!
@@vrso2I just have the delete , cost $80
@@vadimnesen8060explain please. I did a delete on my 17 Denali after a lifter issue and it was 2800.
lol … literally billions of miles on the 5.3 and 6.2. But yeah, because you hear about lifter failures on forums, they ALL must be trash.
I’m so tired of the screen wars. They just keep getting bigger and BIGGER..
so dont buy it
And crashes just keep going up and up! Coincidence?????
I agree; I do however like that the HVAC controls are buttons and switches because if they're exclusively on the screen and that thing malfunctions you wouldn't be able to regulate temperature inside. Buttons and switches...good to go. Literally!
Nice improvements. Definitely out of price range though.
Go back 25t years and compare the truck/suv feature on those vehicles to those today. Could a vehicle back then drive/park itself? Do you expect all those features for free?
Of course its going to cost more. You're getting more. A lot more. A whole lot more.
@krane15 well said but the problem is the dealer mark ups
Out of whose price range, yours? These will sell like hot cakes, just as the current generation has.
Did they fix the lifter issues with the v8’s???
Biggest problem is the 53 lifter issue on the fuel management system
And this can be yours for the low price of 90k
Op we just sent another $50 billion to Israhell and Ukraine. Now it's $100k
The biggest problem with GM full size SuVs is the IRS dragging about 3 inches above the road surface, worse than a Camry ground clearance. And nope, they didn't fix it.
Yeah looks like it has almost no clearance, honestly looks lowered with those big goofy wheels
the biggest issue is reliability. I bet the lifter problem is still a problem
Amongst other issues. It should be criminal how much they charge for these things.
I thought that would an issue if oil changes aren’t kept up on….
and I bet Fords and Toyotas will continue to have cam phaser/timing chain issues and blown head gaskets. Your point?
@@crappy60 Oil change intervals are the single biggest cause of AFM lifter issues. The same thing that causes most cam phaser/VVT issues in Ford and Toyota engines. Guys think they should be able to do 7000 or 10,000 mile oil change intervals because they bought the fancy full syn that tells them they should, and then they end up clogging the tiny oil passages and screens in AFM lifters, cam phasers, VVT solenoids, hydraulic lash adjusters, etc. Full synthetic oil also forms tacky films and sludge on the inside of the engine if the vehicle is short tripped frequently, particularly in cold weather. I would also wager that the same bad habit of cold weather short trips and excessive idling is a big contributor to accelerated aging of the rubber oil pump belts in Ford's current engine line. All that unburned fuel in the oil damages the belt. It also negatively impacts lubricity of the oil which affects tiny precision mechanisms like AFM lifters, cam phasers, VVT solenoids, hydraulic lash adjusters, etc, potentially causing premature wear and malfunction.
@@hochhaulso what’s the solution more regular oil changes ?
Nothing beats 20" wheels for off-roading 🤣🤣🤣
Nobody is off reading this thing. They should offer a zr2 trim though.
I took my 07 Suburban offroad a lot, and it actually was very capable even with 20" wheels, especially when aired down to 20 psi.
@@pbear216 yes I agree better than any crossovers
The screen finally caught up with Palisade & Telluride 😂
Same v8 with unreliable lifters some get lucky and go past 100k with no issues
trash!
had 5.3 and now 6.2 escalade.. my AFM failed on both engines ! trash !!!
I got 164K on my 2014 Silverado 5.3 with zero issues before I traded it in for another 5.3 2020, no issues with 72K miles. So there's that.
@@herbwheeler4470 like i said some get lucky but 98% do
It happened to my 2008 tahoe abd 2013 yukon neither of them alwent above 100k km
@@vrso2 awful. I want to buy a Yukon but this has scared the heck out of me? I have no idea what my alternative is for a large SUV.
Nice, to the point review. They fixed all the things I didn’t like about the current Z71 that kept me on the fence. I will be in the market for one with diesel option. I could not tell from this video, but what was the interior color of that Z71? Was it black or charcoal/Gray?
i remember I did NOT get a Tahoe a few years ago because of the push-button shifter. I'm not crazy about this one, but it is a big improvement. In hindsight, I'm sure I could have gotten used to it, but I assumed it was only a 1 generation/refresh thing based on how much backlash they got from us old people
This comment is a little confusing as this gen has only been out since 2021 so this is the only gen with the push button shifter / toggle switch shifter
All other gens had column shifters
@@jaylanjackson4653it’s only confusing to you and it’s obvious what you said is exactly what they meant.
Great refresh. Looks even better! Hope they bring out a ZR2 Tahoe
Dawg that would be sick!
THANK YOU GM for bringing the column shift back.
With the diesel and Z71 package it's pretty much everything you could want. If it were reasonably priced it would be on my list to buy. Hopefully these things will come down soon with the car industry floundering.
Probably around 80k
Come down? There's more features on cars today than every before. That goes double for trucks. The car can literally drive itself. All that doesn't come for free.
Wait 6 years and you can pick it up for $25K but possibly might need a tranny
@@krane15Dealer mark ups are going down. I guess that’s what they’re are talking about.
Close to $100k probably 😳🙄😅
Is the steering wheel still not centered with the drivers seat?
After driving a rental entry level Mercedes a few years back with the gear shift on a stalk, I think every automatic should move to that style of shifter. Really intuitive and nice to use. Also, FWIW, I think this bears a striking resemblance in profile to the Kia Carnival...minivan.
Don't say that. Gm chinese designers spent years designing. The 2025 Tahoe just like the 2023 Tahoe. With a 4k price increase
Man i love the column shifter on my benz, its the only feature i look for when shopping for a new truch but cant find any 🙃
@@moth450 It wasn't designed in China.
The biggest problem is Active Fuel Management which causes premature engine failure do to failing lifters or solenoids. If they haven't removed that then they have fixed their biggest issue. GM needs a huge class action suit filed because of all the engines failing due to AFM.
They actually did phase out the afm, it's now dfm which is somehow different. It's a shame cause GM does build great engines and then ruins them with this garbage to appease the EPA.
Right on
Looks Great, looks too low though wonder if the airride is set to the lowered setting.
Is the low range transfer case only available with the max tow package? Or standard?
😃
How can they sell anyone a 24 when we already know what 25 has coming ? I wanted an RST diesel with super cruise , now I’ll wait for 25
Are you guys aware how many of these 5.3 and 6.2 engines are dropping valves? Literally 26 of them sitting waiting on parts at my dealer. You should look into it. No way would I trust any of the engines (maybe the diesel).
Thanks buddy for sharing. SMH
How long of a wait for parts?
26? You are saying that there are 26 Tahoes with dropped valves waiting on parts? Where are they storing them? How big is the service department? The number of mechanics needed to install the valves on 26 vehicles sounds like a record event 😮😮😮😮
Great video. Your son is a “spitting” image of you! Looks like he learned from the best!
V8 and diesel options that’s how it needs to be. Way to go GM.
The V-8 is dead. Stellantis knows it. Ford had know it for some time. GM simply has not gotten the memo yet. Or hasn't read it.
The true biggest issue was the price
Yup the prices on Tahoes have always been way too high. It’s stupid man.
Well, if they've got BRIGHT RED Z71 LOGOS, then sign me up. I mean the stylist that came up with that is GENIUS. So glad you pointed that out.
You seem easily triggered.
I am glad to see they have a diesel option. Looks great. I think these are the kind of changes that will get people that are in the mid and large size market to move from say Toyota to Chevy. Maybe not in large numbers but I think most prefer this power train over a v6 turbo
@Anthony-bj5mdyuck...
@Anthony-bj5mdfuck Allah
toyota is a UGLY piece of GARBAGE everything toyota makes is UGLY and STUPID
Why does it look so low to the ground? Does it rise up when you start it?
GM has always got their full-size offerings right. This refresh really addresses its shortcoming, in order to keep it on the top of the game. The availability of diesel is very appealing, even though I love the aura engine sound of an American V8.
@Anthony-bj5mdJesus loves you too...
i am muslim but i love my prophet isa @@briandoty438
Coming from a 2018 suburban I would have to disagree. Nothing but issues for a 5 year old vehicle with 90k miles. Its terrible what GM is doing to the oldest nameplate in the game.
It’s gorgeous ❤! That new interior is beautiful
Well.. at least they addressed the button gear shifter, but the trailer brake controller is in the wrong place. Also, why do they have to reinvent the gear shifter??? Eh, what do I care? It's out of my price range.
Great video Roman and Tommy! You guys rock!
Gear shifter on the steering wheel column, is more of a throw-back ("3 on the tree") than a reinvention. And FWIW, I drove a stalk shifter in a rental Mercedes a few years ago and it was really a pleasure to use. Unlike all the assorted shifter buttons and knobs that auto companies have been fussing with over the last 5 to 8 years, the stalk shifter was really intuitive. Never thought I'd be a fan of this old school style, but...
@@ragweedmakesmesneeze yeah it does remind me of three on the tree. And that also made me think of something: that generation did see the evolution of the gear shifter also. Well - I guess I have no leg to stand on. That will just have to work then. I'm sure I would get used to it.
Chevy killed it with this Tahoe. Awesome color, love the rims, diesel option for those who want it. Nice job!
Did they fix the oil use problem with the LZO diesel engine??
Wonderful upgrade, drove the current model, handles great! Glad it has the upgrade in the infotainment like my 22 ZR2 Silverado
lol wtf@Anthony-bj5md
In case anyone is wondering why GM can't release these in what's left of 2023, per federal law, carmakers offering vehicles in the USA cannot by law sell a vehicle designated more than one model year in advance of the CURRENT calendar year. So they couldn't legally release a 2025 model year vehicle before January 1, 2024. Additionally, these are likely preproduction prototypes, and GM is probably still in the process of certifying the engines, crashtesting, and doing preproduction testing. I'm pretty sure they will have to retool their assembly lines from building the 2024 models over to these. American car manufacturers traditionally shut down their assembly lines in late spring to early summer to retool for the coming model year.
Really impressive presentation, guys! Kudos! I love the new interior and the exterior redesign. I don't want to know what it's going to cost to replace those twenty four inch tires, and I am sure it's going to be a real pain for older folks to do flat tire changes with such huge heavy wheels.
Great trim for a big family that likes to tow a camper. Air suspension, diesel, 8 seats and trans shifter on the steering column.
I wonder if they will offer the max trailering package and a 2 speed transfer case together? They currently do not on ‘24 Silverado’s unless you buy a high country. Very frustrating.
What the overheating transmission? The faulty lifters that destroy the engine? The weak roof that fails in a rollover? The lack of a headrest for third seat passengers? The carbon build up? What?
My current Suburban has a 5.3 with 6 speed. I hardly drive it now because my Sierra AT4 with 6.2 and 10 speed is so much more fun to drive.
Same. I have a18 tahoe ppv and it was fun until I got a 6.2 with 10 speed
Did the fix the rear control arms that sit 5 inches off the ground?
I dont know who can afford ‘em…..but great. 😂
I'm really digging the new front end on this! I hate that touchscreen crap but I like that the dash has gone to a more upright like design, I hated the sloped car like dash with a burning passion. The new upright like design makes it more like a truck which is what I like.
HUGE IMPROVEMENT in the Interior, LOVE IT !!!!! ABOUT TIME CHEVROLET 😊
The price of the diesel engine should include the cost of partially removing the engine in order to change the timing belt foolishly located at the rear of the engine.
That black on the outside will scratch even with a microfiber rag. Besides that love the update and I really miss having a diesel. Hopefully they offer captain chairs in the second row
Honda Pilot has that feature.
Do you think the fixed the early rusting issue in the rocker panels and the water leaking in the back hatch?
Will massaging seats be available on 2025 High Country trim?
Does this have the fuel pump problem like the trucks?
Does this model still burn oil by the gallon? Still eat lifters??
Why is super cruise now available on RST and LT trims but NOT Z71?
Love that the diesel will now be available. Do you know, will they be adding an extra inch or so to the minimum road clearance of the Z71 versus the regular Tahoe in 2025? I always wished the Z71 had a bit more road clearance, and then the air suspension height adjustment above that. Oh, and I love that it seems they've added some addition padding/cushion to the seats.
Why are there no pop-up head restraints for the middle seats in the second and third row? I do realize they would need to be moved down to clear that big center console.
Tommy is a natural, keep up the good work! I like the tahoes exterior, but the interior is so plain compared to some of these other suvs
He really has turned into a great presenter
Wait.... They fixed all the cam shafts eating themselves if they idle even a little bit?
Do the 3rd row seat recline like the expedition?
What did they fix the transmission?
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I really enjoyed the video, too bad a phev wasn't offered because here in Canada our gasoline prices are higher than the United States 😮
Looks really good I really like the changes they made.what I'm wondering is if they will have a regular coulomb shifter on the lower trim model
Probably only going to get a coulomb shifter if they do an electric model.
Unfortunately the guys with man buns whined and whined so much GM is taking column shifters away from most of these vehicles. The low-T metrosexuals got their way and we're stuck with car shifters taking up console space.
Is ambient lighting avaiable?
Who needs a 17 inch screen???? That’s just ridiculous
Because people were complaining about how small the other one were obviously but yes this is too big
Nice review
The interior looks amazing!
Could you do a look at leg room if all three rows are occupied?
Am I the only one who thinks the front looks VERY similar to the GMC Canyon?
Also can't believe that 20s are now considered high profile off-road wheels
The finally fixed it and made it even more expensive thank god what we truck off roading people have all been asking for
Where is the SS model with the supercharged Escalade V motor?
Does it have auto brake hold?
That thing that they use to put the instrumental gauge cluster...I miss it
I want a base suburban with the 9 seat configuration and the diesel.
Did it get a rear locker?
Finally a modern column shifter and not the awkward button setup. I thought it was bogus that they claim that column shifter takes up space but the button shifter does not.😂😂😂
Keeping it "GM Traditional "😊
I guess they wanted the volume knob intuitive very close easy to see, I just feel like they don't have to keep sticking them out of LCD display, it's a display, not knob cluster
Oooo. May have seen this front end on a 1500 testing up in Breckenridge
That Tahoe probably costs over a 100k who can afford it would not buy it until Gm figures out the AFM problem
Did they put ventilated seats in the z71 Tahoe?
I'm incredibly disappointed in GM's lack of offerings. I want to see a Trail Boss and ZR2 options for this rig. The rear lift gate should be split at the bottom black/green line so the black part and rear window go up, and lower portion under the black part folds down. Not only that, but the lower part should be a multipro tailgate so I can fold down "stairs" for Fido's convenience and to prevent Fido from scratching up the rear bumper. Oh, and the rear glass should be able to open upward while the lift gate is still closed. It needs to be power operated so compete with Toyota's rear glass that can raise and lower. So close to perfect, but so far away.
Btw, can we get a Bison edition with that ZR2 package? Do this and the Tahoe will be competitive with the Lexus GX for overlanding.
It's amazing how much Tommy has started looking like his dad over the past few years!
Where is the headrest on 2nd row middle seat?
love the interior but it is the EXACT same one found in the new 2024 Traverse , which we are told will get the same infotainment/Dash combination across all trims...... this means that the Cheapest traverse 38k, will have the exact same interior as the most expensive Tahoe 90k+.
Awesome! They got rid of the AFM/DFM BS! They also added the dual port injection from the LT5, and added forged rod/pistons, along with being a flex fuel vehicle from the factory. Plus you can option this updated L87/10L80 combo in the lower trends..... Okay I'm F'in with y'all. You want to make this perfect just GEN4 Coyote swap it with Fords tuning for the 10R80.
That seems to be a very well designed dash! Yeah to getting rid of the transmission buttons and yeah to having regular HVAC controls and a volume knob!
Zr71 Suburban has become the ultimate mall crawling flex.
Can't wait to get one in 2/3 years
What color is that in the exterior?
Of course they won't fix the things that actually matter to most buyers, like reliability or the placement of the shark fin antenna. Why does it have to be offset to one side like that?!
It's easier to replace when they go bad. The satellite antenna is in there and they go bad eventually.
First time that I can say that the interior of a Chevy looks great! I agree, overall nice changes were done.
Hmmm, doesn't seem like that big of an improvement. Does that rear gate split? That would be cool! Can you pop the glass in the rear gate? A lot of manufacturers seem to have dropped that feature. If that glass does pop, can you fit a 4'x8' sheet of plywood through the opening? Do the screens work with gloves on? These are the kind of things I want out of my family SUV. Otherwise it is just a SV and its not really that sporty either so we are left with just a V ... for $60K :(
The only way to fit a 4x8 piece of plywood in these new tahoes is to get in the Tahoe, drive to the dealership, trade it for a Silverado and then go to Home Depot and get all the sheets of plywood you want.
The biggest issue is the engine valve lifter problems in both the 5.3 and 6.2 engines. Have they fixed that? Ten percent of the engines are coming out bad. And GM is not replacing these bad engines. Cars at this price range should not have faulty engines.
Nice job reading the GM marketing package!
Wow, that Tahoe looks great!
Nice updates, I love everything they did except that the main issue still exists (the rear axle issue) still very low to the ground. If only GM would fix that. Then the legendary GMC Yukon/ Tahoe will become great again.
I didn't buy the Tahoe because of that.
That’s what happens when IRS is a thing. They won’t go back to a solid rear axle. Stop whining.
You didn't see the c pillar obstruct entry to 2 ND row? Your kids better duck. It's angled making entry smaller. The dash comes out to your lap. The engine sits too far inward. Making intake repairs expensive. Those wheels will make the mexican thiefs happbecause these 24s will bolt right on a 2005. After the 5 finger discount received from your local dealers lot after closing time. And finally, not long before you see the front on a 2007 Tahoe. It's the same truck
Yukon runs the show. They wont listen to anyone complaints with that suv.
Looks good. Why no hybrid though, did you ask?
Looks great. Would be great to see a ZR2 version.
Are we praying for a ZR2 tahoe? Count me in and might as well wish for the suburban ZR2
@Anthony-bj5md Jesus is your true savior ✝️
@Anthony-bj5md With your unselfishness and grace, we will get the ZR2 Tahoe and Suburban. Amen
@Anthony-bj5md Are you asking me on a date? I'll pray for you and that Tahoe ZR2
What does this mean for the Yukon?
