As soon as you pour the pad, immediately put down a gravel path around the whole thing. If you don't, you will have a mud stain for about two feet up on the sides that you may never be able to clean off.
No longer worrying about what people think about you is not weird it’s being comfortable in your skin and your life
Yep, to me, it's reaching maturity. Too many people don't make it there! The ONLY One you need to worry about is God Most High. He's the One that counts. No one else matters on this earth!
Indeed!!!
I love MaryCarl asking you “when did you get weird?” Sounds like something my kids would have asked me when they were teenagers 🤣
Brooke you're not weird, girl you are KOOL! Enough said.
There is nothing weird about you, we just change as we get older-and we get better. Finally we’re able to release & be ourselves. We say what we mean & mean what we say!
exactly...well said
Yep....thats the best thing about aging! You pretty much don't worry about what everyone else thinks and say what's on your mind? And don't waste your time doing stuff you really don't want to do.
I agree! I've heard many say that when they reached 40, their entire outlook on life changed. I know mine did. I felt free to be totally myself. No longer cared about what people thought or said
Yep, I am who I am. Take me or leave me, at 60 I really don't care anymore 🤷♀️ what others think about it!! 😉
@@ya-ya5387 LOL I realized that at 15 years old.
You guys sitting side by side in your cute little podcast area looks like 2 teenagers in love sharing your lives and the stories of your daily lives.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Prayers God bless your lives with much love, peace and happiness.....🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️
I thought that too! They are just To Cute together!!! I enjoy how well they get along & compliment each other! They remind me of me & my husband. We are opposite of each other but that's what makes us work so well together. Plus we've agreed to disagree. That's the secret to a long marriage! This year it was our 27th wedding anniversary. 🤔 I wonder how long Jason & Brooke have been married.🤷🏻♀️

I woke up at 11 to take my meds. Then started thinking and now watching your video. I'm just so glad I'm out of the hospital!
I’m glad you’re out too, hospitalizations are not pleasant!
Might I suggest setting up a catch pen in the corner of each pen? Sometimes you need to contain critters for various reasons. Then you can also keep the critters safely away when you need to.
Brooke, to keep you from worrying, the best thing you can do for posts in the ground is to use the Japanese process for preserving wood called Shou Sugi Ban. You char the post with fire, then you coat it with natural oil like linseed. Not only does it become waterproof, it also deters bugs.
I watch a channel called Smokey mountain outpost and he has used this process for his house build
@@karenwornum6275 So does Shawn James at My Self Reliance. He also added the bluewrap waterproofing cover on this build.
Great catalog from Japanese Woodworker..cool tools and stuff. I’ve studied aikido, Japanese cooking, own Japanese knives and a katana from the Kanbun Era, 1660 or so.
Hello Jason, Brooke & Mary Carl!
You popped up on my phone and I dropped what I was doing hallelujah you're back love you guys so much wish I lived nearby 💞
I did too! I love this family
This podcast is like we are just visiting with y’all. I love it!
I just had a friend just say that today! When you hit or near 40... you stop worrying about what people think or say. She said I'm now living my best life! It's so true!
My favorite family as soon as I got notification here I am...
You're the best!
Ditto
You two looked so relaxed and contented MaryCarl is in her element with all her chickens 🐓 and ducks 🦆 in a row thanks for sharing have an awesome weekend ❤️❤️🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍💖💖
You know, I love your podcasts because you aren’t scripted. I like to get my coffee and sit down with my IPad and watch. It feels like a friendly neighbor visiting. You aren’t weird Brooke. You are a delight and so friendly and chatty. Do not change anything, stay your charming and friendly selves. I wish you were my neighbor.
I would listen to y'all read a phonebook...lol. I so look forward to getting the notifications ☺
Me too
That's how I feel about the podcasts too. Never really thought about it but this once is so fascinating with all the little details of what's going on. Thanks guys.
I swear you guys could talk about the sky and I still love to hear you two!
Oh how I love you all so much, such a breath of fresh air please don't ever change God Bless you all, Thank you for sharing your lives with all of us🙏💞🙂
OMG Jason you can bust some moves I went back and watch you dance videoes. That is right you be you
We will pass y’all sat on the way to the Halloween festival. We don’t honk because we don’t want to scare nugget but we wave and it looks awesome!!!
Honk away :)
So happy, excited for yall. Brooke talking about the door and windows, you can tell she's so happy 😊. Glad everything is going so well. Picture of house is gorgeous.
You’re building a storm shelter inside the house so you don’t have to go outside in the ground that’s perfectly fine a lot of people don’t think of that they figure a storm shelter is outside you’re thinking outside the box and building it inside the house where it’s safer I like that idea
Are your inside dogs and cats and birds going to fit in the shelter. What about your outside animals? Will they have some place to be safe in case of really bad weather. Especially the dogs and cats. Nugget too.
Hi, from New Mexico!
You two do great…impromptu is the best!
Might add some clover and buckwheat with that ryegrass. Bees love it.
Love the windows Brooke! BTW you aren't weird, you've matured! We finally figured out that we need to be true to ourselves and what is important to us changes as we get older in life. Welcome to the club of weirdness!
I’m in love with y’all’s can ham. It is just too cute
Totally enjoying your Chit chat, just talking things out. MC saying your weird is hilarious, my granddaughters pretty well think I'm weird, lol.
My body was tired and my brain was wired... lol
Oh My Goodness, Brooke, that is the story of my life.
This ol'lady joins @Pamela Martin in agreement ♥🙏🙏🙏🙏 prayers for you'all
So glad to see your arm around your wife shoulder and what uplifting smiles on your faces. God bless you both and your baby girl.
Trust me having children will make you weird. But wait till you become grandparent. That will really bring out the special weird in you. So just be who you are and enjoy life the best you can. You folks are great people. May God bless and keep you safe.
Grandkids love me being weird!!
LOL special weird. 🤣
true, lol
You might have to spread lime every year. Having your own equipment will probably prove to be beneficial in the long run.
When I have trouble sleeping, I start thanking God for my blessings. We usually have a whole lot more to be grateful for than to worry about.
We use a Berkey for our drinking and cooking water at home and in the camper because I am also a picky water drinker.
I am looking forward to the house construction.
LMAO Please put that on a shirt!
My body was tired!
But my brain was wired!
Jason and Brooke I love that style house if it's the same as the picture you showed on the pod cast. Can't wait to watch the build. Love you guys. Take care. 🇨🇦
Im so happy u for u. You haven't stop smiling since u. Moved
Get yourself a Berkey water filter. We have the travel size as we use it in the house and also in our camper. Love my Berkey!!
Love the farm!
Thank you so much!!!
Your best podcast yet guys. Keep 'em coming!
Thanks for listening
Hello, all, from Seattle!
Hello there!!!!
Hey Seattle we have family up there...xx
I love your joy at just being there. Everything will work out just the way it is supposed to. The greatest thing is that everyone - including all the animals - are happy and healthy!
Oh how I love you Brooke, you don’t sweat the small stuff lol and I’m a weirdo mom to 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤️❤️
I drink nothing but water and I’m picky also. We’re on well water and I can’t do city water it has a weird taste to me. I always carry my own water all the time. So nothing weird about it. I happy your getting closer to starting your house build. ❤️❤️
We get our drinking water from a roadside spring. There has been road construction on that stretch. To avoid it I went to the next town over to fill up from the public faucet and my wife refuses to drink "that bleach water" so it was the first time we had to buy bottled water that wasn't distilled (I use distilled in humidifier on my Bi-Pap)
Sorry Ms Brooke But I am the opposite of You if I was dying in desert No Dansoni water for me :( But each his own
Don't worry about people not liking the opening packages videos. People love to see your reactions and just to see what they sent being opened. Most channels I watch have package opening videos and people love them.
Just for future reference. You don't want pelletized lime you want ag lime. Pelletized lime is used in farming where there a short term contract because it requires annual application, whereas ag lime in for multi year PH control.
Should have a company in the area that will bring in a lime truck and they spread it to the recommended tons per acre.
Thank you, were getting ready to spread some on our property for the first time. I just watched a video from stoney Creek and he used pelletized lime too🤷.
@@darleneclark6098 Pelletized lime is more suited to drop style homeowner spreaders. Ag lime can be kind of lumpy and needed to be spread with a broadcast spreader.
I live in northwest Tennessee. Our local electric co-op also provides internet, TV, and phone. Their customer service is excellent. They are slowly expanding into the neighboring counties, and I don't think the people who connect to their service will be disappointed! I love your podcasts. It's like sittin' and visitin' with friends and neighbors.
I have my internet, TV and phone through our co-op here in Seneca SC
Yes, they are called transom windows on the inside too. My Grandmother had transom windows over the doors in all the bedrooms. I thought they were so cool!
We have owned a Berkey for 7 yrs and love it. Not a commercial, just a suggestion!
Hello from Ontario, Canada it's 8:17 pm. You know I've stop everything to be here..haha
If you plan on building a pole barn house, do not put them in the ground. Put in concrete piers with brackets on top or brackets on top of the slab. Basically the same foundation if you used steel of wood.
What about the shear rating ?
@@CogHillFarmPodcast maybe contact Al Lumnah, he has built buildings on their homestead in New Hampture with sonatubes and concrete rebar piers and built up from those. They have severe winter storms, high winds and deep freezing to 5 feet deep. Bet he could help you or give you some great advice.
RUclips ......"Lumnah Acres"
@@robinwhitlatch4497 I enjoy lumnah acres, but be careful what advice you take from them. They aren't always correct and often make costly mistakes.
@@CogHillFarmPodcast watch RR Buildings on you tube. They build huge pole barn shops, very professional. They use well built galvanized anchors to bolt the post to. They have several details they use that were from engineered designs. The anchors they use are heavy duty. NOT the stuff you buy at Lowes or Home Depot. Average Metal building only uses 2 to 4 anchor bolts to hold the steel beams in place so wood post do not need to go in the ground.
If you are weird it is a wonderful weird. I truly love all three of you and smile all through when ever I find a new post I hunt all day for ones I have not seen. Love your channels and all that the animals and you all do.
This podcast was so cool, as they all are. I even talk and laugh with yA’ll! Lol!
❤️ You guys crack me up. We don’t always need prepared content cuz we like just hanging out with you. But I’m a weirdo, so……🤣 I wish you all the best. You’re off to a great start on your Cog Hill 40 adventure. ❤️
Wondering if you'll have a root caller, could be handy for storing your veggies! ❤
I don't think they are.
But I plan too in my new cabin.
Ya all are awesome. Nice conversation.
I logged on to let ya know RUclips is slamming your podcasts with ads every 4-5 minutes. I can make it about 20 minutes before getting tired of the interruptions.
Mrs.Cog Hill...I was weird @ 45 too. When you get in your 60's, weird turns in to crazy..lol.
Thank you , we will fix that!
They get paid by the advertising, if you watch them they get more money. Support them by letting the ads play. If you hit the skip button it cost them.
@@mikemiller5139 yes I know and I do watch the ads but it was excessive. 5 ad breaks in 15 minutes will turn viewers away.
Hey 👋 ya'll, Happy Thursday 😊 This is an awesome surprise 😮
Thank you 🤗
Brook, you are awesome.
Hey ya'll, from Natchitoches Lousiana
Hey Happy People,
You’re on my big tv and I’m doing my chores with you.
👍👍👍💛☮️💟✝️💛👍👍👍
I had my 2 of my children later in life. I used to embarrass them half to death just being me. I kept being confused as their grandmother and that made it even better. Now they are grown and we all look back and laugh and happy to have those memories. Just do what makes you happy and laugh a lot.
Great pod cast .those windows 🪟 are really nice. I like the look of the house 🏠. Here in Tennessee we have a lot of new home being built with all white outside . Trimmed in the black trim on windows. God bless you all. Love 💘 for pod cast.
Y'All and the Arms Fam. and Dutch, and some of the others are all Down to Earth, and I am Thankfull that you are Home Folks !!!!!!
Dutch? Mr Click bait? Obviously your stating your PERSONAL opinion.
I realized during your move, how addicted I am to your program. I was having withdrawals because i missed a few shows. Watched most of the old ones. Keep up the homey interesting content. Best wishes in all your new endeavors
If weird means precious then yes you are!!! I was always the weird mom and I don’t care! I loved and still love every minute of it. Life’s too short to be anything but who you are! Love your hearts!
I’m the same way.I went and bought me a water cooler and I have hot or cold water. I lived in a new RV before and it is the water lines in the RV. I got on Amazon and bought me a small ice machine that I could reuse the water out of the cooler to make my ice. Wonderful. I’m so glad you got moved everything else will fall in place.God Bless.
you guys are the "HIGHLIGHT" of my day .love you all😄
This cod cast was hilarious 😆.
Jason, you're so funny. Love your sense of humor 🤣.
They make several different filters you can put on your camper. Just be sure all is insulated and heat taped to keep from freezing. Worked construction for years and lived in a camper while on the road. Worked in PA in the winter and it got down around zero often but with heat tape and insulation it wasn’t a problem. I actually ran my waterline in through a 4” pipe to give it added protection. Line never froze.
You need to put skirting around the bottom of the travel trailer & your Momma's tiny house. Otherwise the floors get very cold & pipes can freeze. You don't want to have frozen water or waste lines.
@@denisewilson8367 I had a custom made skirt made by some Amish for my current camper but Hay bales and heavy plastic work just as well. My camper also has tank heaters for the potable, grey and black water tanks as well as being 4 season insulated. Was super comfortable in the winter but I always kept a small electric heater in the bathroom because early on in my working career I learned that the propane only runs out in the middle of the night.
@@timbullard6082 hay is a fire waiting to happen! If you only turn on one propane tank at a time you won’t run out in the middle of the night! You might run out there to turn it on but not change out two tanks, my son taught me that! The electric heater is a great idea and I use them at times too!
I miss the cuteness of the old place.
IMHO y'all deserve a huge THANK YOU for working so hard to keep up with your podcasts and vids during this crazy time in your lives, not just a move, but a complete uprooting of yourselves and all of the critters, moving structures, building shelters, working out details of your new home, making big decisions, and then to have your computer go wonky and learning software. I know how much I love your podcasts and vids and always looking forward to the next one!! 💝
Love the pictures you showed of house when your home is done it’s going to be beautiful 🤩
Love hanging out with y’all!!! So excited for the house! It is beautiful!
You're not weird, you are unique! And we love you!
Melissa and Jeremy of Good Simple Living got someone to put the roof on the house they’re building. The rest they’ve done themselves and they’ll finish everything else themselves. They said they had no building experience and they’ve done a great job, so I’m sure you’ll do just as great with yours.
Yep and their now dried in for their Idaho winter snows, they’re relieved too. You might look at their concrete siding, they used it because of the fires they’ve been having around the mountains, I believe that was a good choice they made and it’s a log home look, it’s easy and beautiful! But I do like your choice of metal as well, my choice for sure! But you might check the price of the concrete vs metal in the market your in right now, it can’t hurt!
A-OK!! Ain't it great being all moved in, everyone settled in all comfy!?!
Enjoyed catching up on things. Photos of house beautiful by any standards. Brooke don't talk it down, nuthin' fancy my foot! Millions, including me, would be in 7th heaven to have a home as pretty as that. ✅❤️🙏🏼☺️
I always enjoy your podcast, every one you have made! You laugh at each other, finish each other thoughts, but I guess as long as you have been married you know each other better than anyone! Your relationship is amazing...I would of loved to have a relationship with my spouse however i am not good with marriages and I will leave like that LOL. Long story different day.. The pole barn is going to look fabulous, cant wait for the concrete, plumbing, and electrical to be done!!.. This is going to be GREAT.. Have a blessed weekend, stay well and safe❤❤❤
We put a charcoal gray metal roof on our house in 2004 and it has faded. The bad part is, not all of it has faded but some of it. So, we have darker and lighter pieces. Makes me want to cry every time I look at it because otherwise, the roof is in great condition. We went with metal because of the durability and longevity. We live in GA and also get tornadoes and remnants of hurricanes so we thought it was the best option for our conditions. We were recently told by a contractor that more than likely, the metal came from 2 different places or 2 different “runs” when purchased by our previous contractor so that is why it didn’t fade evenly. On the bright side, like you said, you guys shouldn’t have that issue with the colors you are going with. 😊
Also, I used the gel stain “faux wood” method on our Fiberglass door about 7 years ago and it has held up great! It gets SW and W blazing sun and still looks great! Super easy to do. I’m sure you can do it.
The example picture Jason put on the screen is beautiful….so excited for your family! God Bless!
I wish everyone else could be as comfortable with themselves, and as open minded, warm-hearted, caring and loving as you are. Nothing weird about you. You and your family are a breath of fresh air.
Those windows are beautiful!! That’s like a timber frame embellishment although on the timber frame, I think it is also structural., It does looks inviting❣️
Ya'll should do a blind taste test of the camper water, tiny house water and bottled water
I like what Brooke said "body is tired, brain is wired" Lol! I have those kind of nights also!
Brooke, regarding the posts, I also follow Keeping It Dutch's channel. When he built his new pig enclosure several months back on their new off grid property, there was a product in buckets he coated the bottom of his wood posts with that was supposed to prevent them from rotting. He was very happy about it! If I get a chance, I'll look back and see if I can get the name of it, or at least the title of the video for you. Blessings! Debra
you guys need to call in Amish builders.. they are like worker ants.. they'd have that place up perfect and super quick...
My husband taught college level Construction Management. One of the first lectures included this advice: If you answer your phone or reply to messages and calls and show up when you say you will, you will eliminate 95% of your competition. Respond, respond, respond!
I love your podcasts. It’s like we’re sitting across the table from you, just hanging out. ❤️
Almost like a awning over every window that isn’t on the porch I like that that’s very pretty that’s the way this house was when I was a kid but they were metal awnings that hung out over the windows
Great seeing you both. Love the farm
Thanks 👍
Oh my goodness that is just what I was thinking it’s an old style southern country home with the big windows large doors not a mansion style it’s got that southern easy look through it oh that is going to be so pretty when everything is done I would love to come visit you folk
I heard today there is such a shortage of flowers I thought about your flower garden to be ❤️
Yes, the windows that open above the doors in old houses (for ventilation) are also called transom windows. I have them in my historic 1911 house.
I love open concept too. Living, dining and kitchen all in one room love it 😍
Hey yaw from louisiana..always glad to see and hear from yaw. I live vicariously through you two. I use to raise animal's to feed my 4 kids irises alone. Always had a great garden and kids loved it to and was lots of help. I drove tractor ,mowed yard with push mower 1/2acre did all the man work around the place and the kids tell me they learned how to take care of themselves. Cancer got the best of me so I am 74 and watch my you tube channels everyday,,by THE WAY JASON WHAT IS THE SEASONING THAT YOU GAVE CHAD. CHASE AND HE ATE IT ON POTATOES AND THEY LOVED IT..I AM JEALOUS..GOD BLESS YAW.
I was wondering the same thing Judy Jackson, I couldn’t read it, dang those potatoes looked good!
Hello from Navarre. 🌻
My SIL has an Aunt who lives there they vacation in Navarre every year and I get a shirt every year...lol It's a beautiful place...
You are not weird my dear, you are honest...I can't wait for the build...your farm is gonna be just gorgeous, your gardens and the flowers then the pond with the swans...
I really enjoyed today’s podcast. You really made us feel apart of the conversation. Hoping you do “lives” once things settle down.
We have the same design lightly stained timbers on our new deck under natural timbered roof with 4 skylights. We even put a fan under the high peak! We had 3 thick metal posts and one wood timber to hold the roof up. In the same design, you might put the angled timbers on the top of the posts holding up the awning to match. It might make it barn style, too!
Brooke, steel does need painting eventually. Next time driving in town, look for old business signs. They have character rust and age. But maybe they have new treatments now. Talk to a name brand paint center (not a box store) as they have the latest research and development of paints. Your house build sounds like a great journey and plenty of future content! By the time you are ready to start though, you should have all your outside projects done. Enjoy!
Great podcast!! We are in the process of having our first built home done. It’s taken since March to get financing in place, and we are closing this Monday. The waiting has almost done us in! Our house will take 4-6 months to build - 7 days sounds so lovey! Lol. Good luck with everything. Can’t wait to see it come together.
Add 6 months to what they quoted bcuz they never get it done on time. That way if it takes less time then you get excited, not upset bcuz it's taking longer than they said it would. Life happens & shipments are so delayed right now. It used to take 6 extra weeks, now it's 6 extra months. Good luck!
@@denisewilson8367 very true! I hope it happens at least within a year so that we won’t have to go through being re-qualified again.
