Maybe Moody “pre-interviewed” for the position with Nugget behind your back to make sure he would be the perfect fit for the 40. I’m sure Peaches and Nugget will give you the whole story at the next monthly staff meeting. It’s wonderful how harmonious your animals are together!
And FYI- Fresh cranberries are the best! 😀

Here is a recipe for your daughter... one bag of whole cranberries, one large container of cool whip, one cup of crushed pineapple drained, one cup of sugar one cup chopped walnuts or pecans your choice. Place rinsed and drained cranberries in food processor and chop on pulse. Then in a sealable bowl mix pineapple, sugar, and cranberries and place in fridge over night then in the morning add your nuts and cool whip with the cranberry ,sugar and pineapple mix. Enjoy.

Now hold on here, I’m a Kansas girl and have never heard of a Congealed Salad- or else we called it something else. But here, our Waldorf Salad has mainly Apples, celery, mayonnaise, walnuts, grapes, but it was the WATERGATE Salad that had the Pistachio pudding, marshmallows and Pineapples- and maybe some cottage cheese to make it “healthy”! So what’s a Congealed Salad???

Congealed may be a regional description, ours was called Cranberry Jello Salad, it didn't have Cool Whip but was same type of ingredients.
My mom was from the South but I think names were assigned based on what kids would eat.
There is an old style congealed salad molded with meats and unflavored gelatin.

You might use the blocks to make raised beds. They don't rot and don't weep things that you don't want in your food.
Also, make sure to make a drawing of where you place the different utility lines on the "40" so that you will not have to go by memory only as to where they are. Also, when the next generation inherits the farm, they will know where they are.

Casserole is a much better word than congealed.....sounds like my grandma's jello salad that she called ambrosia. All these words are not at all descriptive of the ingredients, and that just cracks me up!
Check out Gardening with Leon for his self wicking tubs that he gardens with. He uses old livestock mineral tubs, and puts segments of corrugated pipe in the bottom with landscape fabric over them and dirt on top of that with a PVC pipe to fill the reservoir. The system is so cool, and you mentioned that water was a big issue on the 40, and this might be an interesting solution.

🙋‍♀️I clean houses for my living, and have cleaned many different types of counter tops, my two favorites are Quartz, man made Sila Stone, or natural quartz slabs (non porous, so won't stain from foods like tomatoe sause, or wine). Corian is my other favorite, but not with the built in sinks(problems with small cracks around drains, which then stain). You may love the l👁👁k of marble Jason but DON'T let it's beauty fool you, stains SUPER easily, so NEVER use it in kitchens or bathrooms!!! Also, granite is also porous, and will stain( many folks got on the granite bandwagon several years ago, along with shiny stainless steel appliances 🤦‍♀️)

My mom was an avid baker and swore by marble when working her pastry as the marble keeps the pastry cold/cool.This she learnt from her mother in turn. Mom would have been 100 on 21 Dec this year!

@@lorainewhite727 Oh yes, I know marble has been used for making candy and other things, and for cheese plates because of it's cool smooth surface, and I am sure people using it were mindful of it's propensity to stain easily.

Good podcast, thanks for all the answers. I like the new intro, it does make me sad that MaryCarl isn’t part of the podcast, but she’s still in the VLOG’s, so I’m good with it. She’s at an age where she’s exploring new interests and who knows, at some point she might like to be part of the podcast again. The door is always open. Much love, Archa from south eastern Virginia.

Had two great Thanksgivings one at my Sisters and later one at my In-Laws . I understand the separated food thing , I was like that as a child but , got over it as an adult . The congealed salad sounds like a fruit cocktail in Jello salad or one of the dozens of Jello based dishes .

I'm glad to hear Mary Carl is wearing a mask inside the pigeon coop. That is a real disease that my father-in-law passed away from. The doctor called it "Pigeon Breeder's Lung. He raised pigeons for years in the loft of his barn. He loved squab so he would crawl around inside to catch the baby pigeons and he didn't protect himself. It's no joke.

I love making homemade cranberry sauce using recipe on back of bag of raw cranberries...listening to those berries POP is so satisfying. Freeze in portions. Use to make cranberry chicken. Mix 1 can or 8 ounces of whole cranberry sauce with 8 ounces Catalina dressing and 1 package dry onion soup mix. Pour over skinned chicken thighs in 9x13 pan. Bake 1 hour uncovered at 350*. Delicious served over rice.

I’m with MaryCarl. My food cannot touch, with two exceptions. Pot roast and turkey and dressing. Everything can touch and gravy on everything. My family loves canned cranberry sauce. My sion-in-law put his on a dinner roll as if it were jelly. I rarely even taste anything new. The only green veggie I will eat is green beans. It’s tough to be such a picky eater.
