    Thank you, thank you, thank you for your honesty!! I wish I had found you when I first started diamond painting. I will be watching from now on because I trust your opinions. Been there done that with the bullshit promoters. This hobby should not have broken the bank but I’m the idiot that you could sell ice to if I lived in Alaska. So again, thank you.

      Oh no honey dont feel like that! I truly feel the same though, this hobby can get really up there in price and for what its worth to do, its truly a shame that most of these people "like" everything. It's not real...its just telling! Thank you for this comment!

    What is the point of constantly sticking your fingers to it on the video ?

    • @lobacrafts

      It's called stimming... also its an older kit, something discontinued. You'll find that some diamond painting kits the glue actually doesn't have the same holding power in some areas then others. I constantly check. Sorry if that bothers you and I hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching!

    My very first kit that I ever did was a 30 x 40 I think Amazon or something similar. I wanted to try it before I went and broke the bank so to speak. So I too totally agree with that point.

    • @lobacrafts
      @lobacrafts  7 месяцев назад +3

      Absolutely! I would never have anyone just starting to think about the craft start on a DAC or Dreamer Designs or even on the snack size kits without truly figuring it out if they would like it. Time is money and money is time and this is a time consuming hobby! Thanks for watching!

    I avoid all social media like FB and Instagram, so tend to free myself from all of that. I listen to a lot of different creators, but one must remember people are people and I take everything with a grain of salt. As far as a lot of creators go with sneak peaks and all, I just laugh because I know that they got that kit for free and are basically a marketing employee of said company. I have seen those same creators then turn around and "destash" said kit for profit. It is all a business. I suppose if one realizes that it is all capitalism at work, then one can think more critically about one's own actions. My first DP kit came from DAC because I researched everything before I even started. I knew what I was getting into and I knew what I liked. I only have a couple handfuls of kits in my "stash" and do not plan on buying anything else unless I absolutely have to have it. You point out a very good thing that people are pushed to have the latest thing and better get it now else it be gone forever. I don't buy into that, or play that game. Haha! I have tons on my wishlist at DAC and Dreamer Designs, if they go out of stock and never come back well then I was never meant to have it to begin with. 🤣🤪😀

    • @lobacrafts
      @lobacrafts  7 месяцев назад +1

      Omg the DESTASHES! I cannottttt but again, I used to do it too with vape juices I did not like. If I loved it, I kept it. If I didnt, I did find someone who wanted to try or did like the brand, and all i charged was shipping....but charging the price of a diamond painting kit and shipping...thats DOUBLE DIPPING! Especially when, like I said, contractually, they are getting paid for the sponsored post in general. No one does anything for free. But who again would know that unless they actually did sponsored content? And omg I dont even have a wishlist...I think I would be doing a one time purchase of a few paintings for now on, finish them all, then purchase new ones. and you're right....if I dont get the painting then maybe it wasnt meant to be! Thank you for commenting! I appreciate this so much!

      Well, BellaLaLuna1726, I'm so glad I came across your posting and read it. I don't have FB or Insta either and it does feel good and I don't need to get hacked for the third time anyway. My very first kit was a tiny unicorn (8x8"?) meant for a child to see if I liked it and I did. My first real one was from DAC and I didn't know much 18 months ago but I liked the $10 off the first kit. I also buy only what I feel I have to have. Who needs all of that anxiety that I've just gone through waiting for a certain Hannah Lynn on DAC when I'm pretty sure only people who spend a lot of money get them first, even though they swore to me that doesn't happen. I missed out on the third restock last night and even though I put it in my cart, I went directly to my cart and it wasn't there. They said it was probably a returned one! WTH! I don't feel pushed though to buy the latest ones, I usually don't like ANY of them anyway, only ones that have a special meaning or call to me (last night's did). Okay, so I pouted for awhile but feel like you said, it must not have been meant to be.

    The crochet to diamond art pipeline is WILD.... so many people I've seen so far has started with crochet and end up here is crazy. But this whole video I 1000% agree especially with some of these reviewers that I've seen since jumping into the diamond art world. Like I get it, get ya bag... but at the same time some of these people, especially with one company it almost felt cult like and I had a hard time finding smaller shops that had some amazing paintings (for a fraction of the price). Between some of the bigger companies and the reviewers their big schtick is FOMO and yeah I got it but I also know I don't need everything all at once. The Sarah one though....if it's the one I think it is, I've been looking to even see if I can find a knockoff at this point, cuz that was gorgeous.

    Hiya! Fellow artist here and I totally agree with your point about getting budget kits first. I saw one of the Van Gogh kits at Hobby Lobby and really wanted to give diamond painting a try. I listened to my inner voice for once and got a set of 5 snack size kits from Amazon first before spending a bunch of money on something I didn't know if I would like. I still buy budget kits to have something small to work on that can be done in a weekend and I save my larger kits for when I don't have an active commission going. My obsessive compulsive personality is something I have to be mindful of and you are spot on about burn out. It is refreshing that the diamond painting community is mindful of art theft. I applaud that. But art theft has been a problem for decades if not centuries and I very much disagree with the gatekeeping of the hobby that can take place.
    I also agree completely with trying different styles of kits. The art I make and artists I like to display in my home are darker gothic portraits. The idea of color blocking large sections of blacks and grey fills me with dread. I enjoy confetti and I want color in my diamond paintings. I just finished one recently that was stylized multi colored flowers and it was so fun. My advice to newcomers is try different things and when you figure out what you enjoy, be critical of the canvas that you buy. The art you might like to look at and the art that you might like to have as a diamond painting can be very different things, and that's OK. All the unboxing videos are fun to watch, but you don't have to give in to the FOMO and hype of every new shiny that comes out.
    Happy diamond painting everyone!

    Very helpful, thanks! I'm a newbie, and I went into some Facebook groups full of excitement - only to feel disheartened because members made snide remarks about smaller, cheaper kits. I wasn't going to start with a huge $200 kit! I still honestly like many of the small kits...

      Size matters when it comes to kits and when you’re first starting to see anything bigger than maybe a 40 x 50 cm is DAUNTING! If smaller kits are your thing there’s so many pretty ones! If you’re just starting there’s no reason to take a plunge on even a $50 kit! Thanks so much for watching!

    When I hear licensed painting, it makes me wonder if these same people buy all name, branded food and clothes .... it's the same thing ... some artists did the art for the packaging? I buy what I like, and that's that.

    • @lobacrafts
      @lobacrafts  6 месяцев назад

      Interesting perspective. I think the idea of licensing is so the original artist gets their cut but I do believe for ABSOLUTE beginners to be weary of just images that may be stolen images or try something other to make sure they even like it. I do see where you’re coming from though! Thanks for watching(:

    • @danacorbin2054
      @danacorbin2054 6 месяцев назад

      @lobacrafts Well, Frosted Flakes is a name brand(KELLOGGS). Some artists, as well as the company, paid for the licensing and patent to use it. if you should respect artist and patents, then it should be on everything, or you should stay out of people's pockets and let them buy whatever they can . By saying I don't buy this thing or that thing to an audience (youtube), you are suggesting they do the same. OK, let's look at only diamond painting. The art it's self comes from China. Now we are too good for the very companies and places that started it. But if someone from China states all of the aisan people buy only from aisan companies because this is there's and we stole there art and there craft we would not like it (people foget too often where it all started)it's not just about licensing, it's about much more or it would not be everyone saying it. I am sure some people say it because they love to follow what bigger channels are doing but be original stand on your own ., I hate that... I can think for myself and buy what I want. That's one of the reasons I don't do events I have licensed kits lots but I also love Ali-express can't help it I will not stop buying from there now I don't try to buy licensed kits. I have, but I did not understand licensing . Now I really try to buy other stuff, mostly stuff, about my faith, but I love on Ali-express you pick the size from 30x40 to 70x90 or larger. I love the 70x90's size, so that's another reason . I don't mean to rant, but I was going to start a channel in 2023 and was made to believe that if I did not have a licensed kit, my channel would be doomed. So for me, when I really looked into some things, I lost my love for those channel's now I understand it's about pushing a company, and that's the commitment it's to the companies. Not the subscriber.. well, I am venting (sorry). I just felt misled, and now I don't even watch their channels. I am very picky who I watch. I'm so sorry for the rant .
