- Edit: Due to repeated requests: I will be creating and posting a follow-up video that shows how my husband helped me to actually "hang" these pieces on our wall. Since he did it, I need to do a little research first, and/or find time when he can do a video with me, and then I will share that "how to" with you all as well. - Thanks for watching and letting me know I left out this VERY important step!!! Be sure to subscribe and click that notification bell so you can be notified when I upload the follow-up "how to hang" video!
Original Text:
Watch me transform my diamond painting canvases into beautiful pieces of art to hang on the wall.
I have searched and searched for an easy way to "frame" all these uniquely sized diamond paintings, in an economical and relatively easy fashion. After MUCH research, this is what I came up with, and I am happy with the outcome.
I hope you are able to find some or all of these tips useful/helpful, and may be able to implement them into your diamond painting "finishing" processes.

Please share pictures of your wall once mounted and what you use to hang them ❤
I tried to show how they looked on my wall to the best of my ability at 36:10, but it’s in the stairwell and they’re on two different walls so I couldn’t get them all in one shot.
Someone else asked about how I hung them and my husband did that so I’m going to ask him and probably post another video explaining what he did
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones you know, I asked to see before you showed the pictures. I always hit pause and comment when the thought pops in my head 😂
@@graylagran7443 haha no problem. I’d rather you do that than forget to ask by waiting until the end.
I’m planning to make a video showing how my husband mounted them on the wall, so I’ll try to get some good video of how they actually look all together in that
Did you seal the drills with something before you framed it??
@@krystleburgess1052 no I did not.
I may apply something to the corners if drills start to fall off but so far they are all still on there.
My 2nd time watching this foam board method of yours. It makes perfect sense how to do it. I appreciate how easy you made the instructions in this video. TY!
@@darcygoodboe3457 thank you so much and you are most welcome! Let me know if you ever run into any issues or have questions
You can seal the DP and the pain the edges of the canvas before mounting so it would have a coloured edge that could look cool with your method too!!!
That could look cool too! Good idea. I’ve never sealed a canvas and would like to avoid it on some but I’ve got some sealant to use if I ever find I really need to. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones, I'm curious to know why you don't want to seal your canvases after completion. And what circumstances would force you to do that. Thank you!
@@QuiltingMatilda I’ve “talked” to a bunch of people online who say it’s an unnecessary step, it’s simply not needed. Most of my canvases are diamond art club and they don’t recommend it, and personally, I worry that they will lose some of their sparkle if I do cover with a sealer. Especially with the special drills. I did just seal some coasters though and they seem to still look ok.
I think, at this point, the only reason I would seal is if I have so many popping drills that I need to, in order to keep all the drills in place, and that it’s on a piece I want to keep and display. So far I haven’t had an issue with that though either. Or maybe if I notice that the ones on display are gathering dust in places I don’t want it, especially on rounds. I think I’d be more likely to seal a round kit for that reason. Only time will tell at this point. I have purchased sealers in the beginning of my diamond painting days, but haven’t used it yet. It’s good to have on hand just in case. Just my opinion, as of this moment in time. But I’m always learning. Thanks for the question
Beautiful!!!! Can’t wait to use this idea on mine!!! Would love to see them on your wall!!😊
Thank you! I’ve only done 3 so far. I inserted pictures at the end of this video, and then I made a companion video about hanging them where I did put in some video of them on the wall. You can find that in my tips and tutorials playlists if you’re interested. I’m real happy how they turned out. I hope you are too
Thank you so much. Such a great way to frame your painting. What a brilliant video ❤.
@@Jan_Smyth thank you so much!!! That is such a wonderful compliment. I really appreciate it 😁
That looks really nice! And I love the birds! And yes it would be good to see how you hang them
Thank you! Yes: I’ll be doing a follow up video to show how I hang them. So keep your eye out for a video about that soon. Thanks for watching
Ooooh! I’m going to have to try this on a budget canvas first (for practice). Thanks!
That’s what I did with my rose one; well, it was one I was okay with not turning out. I really didn’t want to ruin my birds. Always best to practice
New subbie here, just because I was blown away by how simple you explained this whole process. I am looking forward to watching more videos from you. TY!
Thank you so much for subscribing and what a wonderful compliment! That means a lot. Thank you!
I would really love to see a video on how you mounted them on the wall. Thanks.
Thank you. I’ve been getting a lot of people asking that so I’m going to try to post a follow up soon explaining that part
Thanks for letting me know you’d like to see that so I know to make a video 😁👍
Thank you for this video! Ive been wracking my 69 year old brain trying to figure out how to do just this!
@@QuiltingMatilda thank you! I hope the video helped. If you ever have any questions, just let me know. I’m happy to help any way that I can
Thanks
I've got to try this. Looks very cost effective.
It really is! I should have added it all up. Thanks for watching
GREAT demo on how you put your canvases on foam board & hang. I would love to try this. You make it look so easy…… 👍 Thanks again for sharing. Your completed birds look amazing!! Fantastic job! Now I need to gather the products to complete. Happy Diamond Painting! 💎
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you liked the video and are going to try it. I’m really happy with them.
Great video. Thanks for the demo and being a Bird collector like me 😂
Thank you! And you are most welcome. I LOVE the birds!!! Can’t get enough of them. But I’m trying to space them out so I always have one to work on
Watched your video again. I love the idea and I keep practicing. My biggest hurdle is cutting the foam board. I guess my knife isn’t sharp enough! I will keep trying. Thanks again!
Thank you so much! Yes, cutting the foam board can be a challenge. A good knife is a must. One time it wasn't working well for me, and I realized I didn't have enough of the blade extended. Once I corrected, that it worked. And I need to put quite a bit of pressure down to help it cut through too. I'm really glad I have the metal ruler to use as a straight edge, or my lines would be all over the place. Even with it I can make mistakes. Good luck! I hope it works out for you. Please let me know if it does! :-)
Great idea. Can’t wait to see how you hang them on the walls.
Going to try to upload that video today 🤞
Been hearing about diamond painting, and considered giving it a try. Been watching tutorials, and it looks like something I might really enjoy. I know I'd get discouraged if I got up to the end and didn't know how to finish it. Thank you for helping me build the confidence to go ahead and try it.
@@user-we9vr2kj3r you are most welcome!!! There are a lot of ways to finish one and honestly I don’t display all of mine. It’s just about doing them. 🤷♀️
I definitely didn’t display my first ones (but they were small and cheap and not worth displaying), but they did help me realize how much I love diamond painting! How relaxing and enjoyable it is
ArtDot has some really nice licensed kits that aren’t very expensive and they are all round (more on their website. I have links in my description box). Diamond Art Club is best for square drills but they are expensive and that’s an investment for “trying”. But they’re licensed and they have some smaller kits for less. I just hated my first square because it was from a cheap company and the drills were awful so they didn’t line up well. Now I love them because they’re from a good company
Just suggesting: don’t spend too much to make sure you like it, but I am someone who promotes licensed artwork which is why I mention those two companies (especially artdot: I do have a post review of Sunflowers in Twilight). If you end up loving it, diamond art club is amazing and there’s a lot of other great companies like Jaded Gem Shop and Paint Gems (this one is a great way to try squares)
Good luck! I hope you like it as much as I do
Thank you so much for sharing that😊.
Great video! Thank you for sharing
Thank you!
I actually did this once with Snowy Owl. Will definitely do it again your way. Thanks!
Did you like it on Snowy Owl? Hopefully some of my tips are helpful. Would love to know what you did. Thanks for watching
Love it! I'm going to try this ! Looks beautiful and professional. Oh less expensive!❤ Thank you
Thank you. Command strips would work too, as someone else mentioned.
Thank you for making this tutorial! I’ve been wanting to do this very same thing for my canvases; your tips will make this so easy for me!
You are most welcome! I’m glad the tutorial was helpful and hopefully it will make your process go smoother
Thank you so much for doing these framing videos! I love the normal diamond art content, as I enjoy seeing what other people do, but I always wondered how to "finish" them. They seem to need customized framing, which is a fortune in and of itself, so seeing more cost-effective methods is has been completely missing for me.
I love the way you have the drills going over to the sides! I did a DAC round kit on sale at hobby lobby that I did for my mom last year, and found out at the framing department they they could dry frame it, and so I did. It looks good, but I wish the sides weren't so bare. I never thought about wrapping them around!
What hardware do you plan to use with the foam board canvases?
Thank you much for your comment. I was having the same issues which is why I worked to come up with this and am really happy how they turned out.
I keep getting asked about how they were hung on the wall and I had my husband do that so I’m going to ask him and add another video showing that as I think it will be easier to explain that way.
Thanks again!
Thank you so much for sharing this!
You’re most welcome. Hope you found it helpful. Thanks for watching
Great ideas! The bird art is so adorable!
Thanks so much! I absolutely love Richard Lorenz birds! I have so many to still complete but they are so much fun to do. Thanks for watching
I love it. Awsome thank you
Thank YOU!
I used spray adhesive and mounted it in place.
I saw someone use spray adhesive… I may look into that in the future too. I liked how this one wasn’t too sticky right away so I could reposition it though. I’ve seen some spray adhesive is the same way though. Thanks for the tip
It takes two people and practice before positioning the good one.
This is just great! 🎉. Thank you! You are such a great teacher!
Thanks so much! Thank you for watching
Great video. Thanks.

Great video.
Thank you so much!
Thanks so so mush for thies vido came at the most amazing time ❤❤
You are most welcome! I hope it helps
Well done thank you
Thank you! Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I always appreciate it
Thanks for showing this great idea for hanging DP’s. Frames are so expensive. I like the idea of using the large sheets of double sided tape. Thank you for linking all the supplies, that really helps. Just curious, how did you mount them on the wall? Love the birds also but I have so many DP’s in my stash that I don’t think I will be able to do all of them before I die, lol. Still waiting for Springbringer to come back in stock though, that one is too pretty to pass up. 😺
You know what? I’m going to ask my husband how he mounted them on the wall. I know there was this flat bracket thingy but don’t know the technical term. I’ll look into it and maybe even post a video. I think he glued them on too. I’ll check. Thanks for the good question and feedback
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones thank you 😻
Thanks so much for this - I’ve ordered the supplies and will be trying it soon ! ❤️from🇨🇦
Excellent! I hope you are happy with the outcome
Thanks so much for your great tutorial! The paintings you did really suit this style of mounting and will look great displayed on your wall. I feel confident I could tackle this!
That’s awesome! It really wasn’t that hard. It was just coming up with the process and taking the time to do it. I am really happy how they turned out. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Very creative ideas! Thank you for sharing, they look great😊
Thank you so very much!
Thanks for this video and sharing. Awesome idea and perfect idea. Will be using this method to mount some of the paintings I have done for gifts. Again thanks!
You are most welcome! I am so glad you found this tutorial useful! I am really happy how they turned out.
I found your framing tutorial very informative and useful. I am definitely going to try it. Could you please do a tutorial on how to hang it on a wall..tfs
Thank you so much! I’m glad you found it helpful. And yes: I am planning to do a video on how we hung it on the wall so that will be coming soon. Hopefully sometime this week. Thanks for watching

Thank you for subscribing and thank you so much for the compliment!! It really means a lot to me.
Thankyou so much for the video, got everything i needed to do this from amazon uk,and so happy how my first one turned out,it was Aria by Camilla d'Errico, will use command stripes to hang it,great video, thanks again 😊 .
Wonderful! That makes me so happy! I’m so glad you liked this method, were able to do it, and are happy with the outcome! Yay! 😀
Such a helpful video. Thanks for sharing your experience. Can’t wait to see your flock up on your wall, please show us xx
Thanks! And yes: I’ll continue to show updates of my wall. There are pictures in this one and I added video to the one about “hanging” them.
This is amazing! Do you think you can show how you do it when you have to combine more than one piece of foam board? I have a few pieces that are really big so it will help lots!
Thank you! I certainly plan to. Unfortunately, I don’t have another piece done that needs to be framed this way. However, I am about to start one, so I plan to do a video on that when it’s finished. Hopefully that will be by the end of summer. Thanks again
New subscriber here. They look great on your wall. How do you hang them on the wall?
I actually just posted a follow up video to show that since so many people asked. It’s in my “tips and tutorials” playlist. You could also probably use command strips.
Thanks for watching and subscribing
Great tutorial! I want to try this. But how do you hang it?
@@bethwoods887 I actually made a second video about that. You can find it in my tips and tutorials playlist. I show how WE hung it, but others have suggested command strips could work too.
And thank you! I hope you do try it! And let me know if you have any other questions!
Excellent video! What type of hanger to you use to hang it on the wall?
I actually made a follow up video to explain this due to repeated questions. You can find it in my tips and tutorials playlist. Easier to explain that way
Thanks for watching. Glad you liked it
The paintings look awesome that way and I would love to do mine like that but I’m not sure I have the strength in my hands anymore to cut the foam board😢 I used to work with plastic canvas and I made a 3 floor doll house using foam board between the walls of the house and it wasn’t very easy to cut the board back then. But I was only using an exacto knife which you know is the size of a pen. I’m guessing it’s alot easier to use a utility knife. I like the ruler that you use. I need a flat ruler to cut out the sections I work on the art. I section my work in square pieces using washi tape. Thank God for people like you posting vids cuz I almost gave up diamond art painting. It was more frustrating than relaxing for me and now it’s relaxing again. By not using a glass covered frame do you have problems with dust on the art and losing drills cuz the glue might dry out? Another thing I learned from peoples vids is size matters. I like landscapes and too busy or alot of confetti will make the art look crappy. My first 2 are throwaways to practice on for the good paintings I’ve been working on. Again thank you for the informative vids and I’m now subscribed to your channel as well
P.S. crappy is my word but it’s actually pixelated to other vloggers
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing. I’m glad you’re diamond painting again.
I don’t know, but I wonder if using a really sharp utility knife and a straight edge like I did would make it easier for you. Couldn’t hurt to try. I’m not very strong myself, but I’m also not weak… I guess I’m average. So if I can do it… 🤷♀️
I haven’t been diamond painting very long, and these are the first I’m putting on my wall. Others have told me they don’t have problems with dust or losing drills so I’m hoping that’s the case. Although I did just find some dust on another WIP, but it was where some enhancement drills were not level. So I’m thinking if it’s level and hanging on the wall, it would be okay. I sure hope so. I love these birds and really want them to last.
And yes! Size matters! Plus, the larger the size, the more drills to lay, which to me equals more fun.
Thanks again for subscribing! And commenting. I see I have a lot of comments to look at from you and I’m really excited about it. Thank you so much
Have you made a video on sealing the diamond painting?
I have not, as I have never sealed a diamond painting, although I bought sealant early on thinking I would need to.
I will be sealing some coasters so may do a video on that after I’ve practiced and I will do a video if I decide to seal, but so far it hasn’t seemed necessary so I haven’t done it.
When you taped your board together did you do it front and back? I have a lot of large canvases that I would need to make a bigger board. This is awesome video thank you. I am new to your channel
Yes! I taped both sides, and put down a few strips of tape. Wanted to try to make it as secure as possible. And mine actually weren’t “perfect” when they lined up next to each other. There was a small gap but I was able to make it so the outside part was flush and felt that was what was most important.
I’m glad I had the chance to practice taping together because I have some coming up that are super awkward sizes and will need that for me to be able to do the same way of “framing” for them.
Thanks so much for the compliment and for watching! Glad you found it helpful
Thank you so much for this video! I've been trying to come up with a way to frame my paintings that won't break the bank, and this is perfect! How did you attach them to your wall?
You’re most welcome! Thanks for watching! And I actually made a second video showing how we hung them on our wall because we already had some screws/bolts there. But others have suggested just using command strips too and that could work.
You can find the video I made showing how we hung them in my “Tips & Tutorials” playlist
Thanks again
Great tutorial. Been wanting to try this and now, I’m ready to go!!! One question-why did you cover the board with the adhesive sheet, since you used the tape all around??
Thanks for watching! Glad you found it helpful. I used the adhesive sheet stuff because I wanted to help sure the canvas would always lay flat on the board. If I just used the tape on the edges, with large paintings especially, I think the canvas could bubble out when hanging on the wall. Maybe it wouldn’t. 🤷♀️ I think it would be okay to just tape the edges on small pieces, but on the large ones, I think it’s important to have the back of the canvas really stick to the board so it won’t bubble off.
Would be a good experiment though. Maybe I can try that with a less preferred painting and see what happens over time
Good question. Thanks for asking
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones Thanks so much for clarifying. It seems a great idea, especially for the hefty ones-like you said. “Better to be safe than sorry “🤗🫤🤗I’m part of that gang too(most of the time) lol.
How are you going to mount or hang them? Looks great!
I made a second video to address this question. It’s in my Tips and Tutorials playlist. Others have also suggested command strips
How will you hang it on the wall?
A lot have asked me this and my husband hung them so I’m going to do another video explaining how he did that as it will help easier to explain that way. So stay tuned 😁😉
How did u hang it on the wall? What did u use there? Love this method
Thanks
A lot of people have been asking how I hang it on the wall, and my husband did that, so I’m going to be making a video to show that part, as I think that will be a lot easier to explain than through comments
So stay tuned! I’ll try to get that up sooner than later
Such a great idea. I am a Richard Lorenz fan too. Trying to collect all of his. Working on Cletus now. Can you tell me how you hang them in the wall please?
Love Richard Lorenz too (if it’s not obvious).
A lot of people have been asking about how we hung them on the wall and I think that would be easier to explain in a video so I’ll be doing a follow up soon
Thanks for asking
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones I rewatched this video because I took a DAC canvas to Michaels, she did't know how to mount it. It came out ok, but I going to take your video to her so she can see how its done better than what she did, that way she will be able to mount for someone else in the future. I am going to mount all my own from now on. I really appreciate you taking the time to show this. Thanks
@@diamondsandthings wow! That is truly the most amazing compliment ever!!! Thank you so much! You have no idea what it means to near to hear things like this. I am so glad you found my video to be so helpful and hope you find success doing it on your own.
I do plan to post future videos as I try different sizes and any improvements I learn along the way
Where did you purchase the foam board ? Really like this method for framing .
I got mine at hobby lobby. I put links to everything I used in the description box.
I really like how it turned out too. Thanks for watching
Can you use thos mounting method if you've sealed the project? Thanks
I honestly can’t tell you with 100% certainty as I haven’t tried it and I haven’t even sealed a painting yet. However, if your sealant still allows the canvas to bend/roll a bit, I don’t see why not. It just needs to be able to go over the edges so if it can do that it should work.
Great video! I have found some canvas boards for smaller paintings, but the bigger ones are odd sizes. I wondered what to do when the foam board bows. The release paper from the tape sheet could be used as release paper when you are diamond painting.
That’s a great idea! To refuse that paper!!!
Hopefully I can keep my other foam boards from bowing but I think it works okay how I did that one. Looks good now anyway.
And did you see how I taped that one together? I had to cut three pieces and tape them together to get the right size, and know I will have to do that for some larger ones in the future. (Like “Lost With You” is long and short: no board for that size) I think that should work fine, because once the canvas is wrapped it will continue to help hold them in place. And I taped both sides.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! Love your ideas
@Rubies_And_Moonstones I thought about taping them together too. So nice see how you did the corners. I just ordered Gladis!!!!!
@@marshah5930 excellent! I love Gladis! Not a huge fan of all that white but… I love these birds and will be doing them all regardless 🤪
@Rubies_And_Moonstones you left out kind of crazy. I think it'll keep it in. Mica powder for sure with all those white drills.
@@marshah5930 I did. I didn’t want the words, so I purposefully took them out. I can’t do it on round kits but may do it on more square kits. We shall see. 🤷♀️
Do you glue set your drills before using foam board?
@@trishwilliams3393 are you asking if I “seal” my painting first? I assume so, and I did not. It’s not something I’ve ever found an actual need to do. However, I think you could. I know there are a lot of sealants out there, so you’d just need to make sure it is one that still will allow your canvas to be able to roll/bend around those edges. If I ever do seal a painting, I’ll be sure to do a video. Thanks for asking.
Sorry if I’m commenting before you mention it in this video, but did you seal these diamond paintings? I’m just thinking about the need to dust them in the future, especially if they aren’t framed behind glass…I haven’t done a lot of diamond painting but I’m thinking that sealing most or all of them is best practice so the drills stay on.
I LOVE all these crazy birds!
Thank you!
I’m glad you ask questions while you think of them. I do mention at some point that I did not seal them. I haven’t sealed any yet. I’ve asked a lot of people and most say it’s really not necessary but if I run into one that starts to lose drills I’ll have to.
When framing in this manner I think it’s important to not seal first so the canvas is still very bendable. If I were to seal, I’d do it after it’s on the canvas (I think: but like I said, I haven’t done it before on any of my paintings. And at least with square drills there aren’t cracks for dust. But the community seems to say dust isn’t an issue so.. 🤷♀️ in all honesty, I haven’t been diamond painting long enough to know myself, and these are the first I’m putting on my wall permanently so I’ll find out eventually. I did mica powder the extra glue on the edges to prevent the dust and stuff there though. I think I mention that too)
Thanks again for asking and watching
That’s a very good point about waiting to seal it (if going that direction) until after mounting it.
These are going to look so cool when you have them all displayed!
@@PDXMom there are so many they’re eventually going to take over the entire house! The idea was to put them in the stairwell but with 4 new releases in a month, I have a feeling I’m going to outgrow that space fast. 🤣
Hi, new subscriber here, where did you get the tape between the foam board and painting? I looked on Amazon but, couldn’t find it, what is it called? Thanks
Thanks for subscribing!
Everything I used has links in the description box (or there should be: if there’s not, something went wrong and I need to fix it. Let me know if you still can’t find it)

@@maryfield5004 excellent! Thanks
I put special tape around mine
What kind of tape? I got some fabric border stuff when I started but haven’t used it on anything yet.
I don’t do this to all my paintings. Depends on the painting how I finish it. Would love to look into the tape you use though
Thanks for watching
Washi tape, colored duck tape, ect. I have also glued ribbon around them.
@@susanagnew8768 love the ribbon idea. I struggle getting washi to stay very long… the glue line can help. Does it just stay better for you or do you do glue parts of that down too?
Glue washi tape too.
