    I love your channel...I don't use sticky labels on my bottels..I write on each bottle with a sharpie and when I'm done with each painting I take a paper towel and the hand sanitizer and wipe off the sharpie and strat all over..have never had any problem with the sharpie coming off before I wanted it to and saves from getting all that sticky residue all over the bottles

    I'm a beginner at diamond painting, my sister got me hooked on it when she gave me some kits to help me get distracted from chronic pain. I need to keep my body and mind active and use up some brain energy when I'm not able to be physically active (I'm recovering from being bed bound).
    So now I have a new hobby besides crochet and beading (making beaded jewellery, bookmarks, keyrings, etc).
    I have to share your tips with my sister, she has been working on diamond paintings that are as big as the one you have of Taylor.
    I'm grateful for any and all tips that anyone can share with me. I've only ever used a single dot placer but I've bought a set of the multiplacers to try.
    The only problem I have now is choosing which kit to start.
    Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot (I'm dotty Dot when I'm busy with a dot / diamond painting)

    Hi Cara, I spray the static guard onto the ends of q-tips, cut the q-tips in half, and leave the static guard soaked q-tip in my baggies or containers. I also spray static guard on cotton rounds and wipe down my trays and the inside of my containers with those if static is persistent. Thanks for sharing all of your tips, I can't wait to try the mica powder.🎉🎉🎉

    Another hack mainly for beginners.
    Since most beginners have not yet bought drill storage yet. Most kit up in ziploc bags.
    For the kits that have the DMC numbers on those heat seal bags. After I dumped my drills in a tray. I would cut that Grey square with the dmc number and color number and it would go into the bag.
    By doing it this way. The bags are reusable because your not using the tape that tears the bags

    The T zone is me 😅, here one tip I do. I tend to work on very heavy confetti pieces and sometimes you forget one drill and don’t realize it so when I finish a section I turn off any overhead lights and just leave the light pad on. You will clearly see if you’re missing any drills. I also do this and any completion to make sure no drills are missing. I will also be adopting Katie’s mom hack of using a silicon meat tenderizer to separate drills 😅

My sister has gifted me a large canvas that is 1 metre by 70 cms and I know I'm going to need the help of some waxy paper to help reach it all.
      I'm also decluttering and organising my house so I have rolls of labels for different storage boxes... I'm thinking the backing paper for sticky gift tags or sticker backing. I will be saving the backing as I start to wrap presents and label them (lots of birthdays soon and then Christmas).

    I use my pool noodle as an arm rest. My table is one of those that lift at an angle of you want too so there's an edge at the bottom along with a metal tray to put pens or supplies so they don't fall when it's at an angle, so when I lean against the edge it digs into my arm and leaves marks and hurts! So I put a slit into the side of the pool noodle and slid it onto the edge of the pen tray on my table. Works like a charm! Best comfy solution! Now I need a hack for the best chair to sit in! I don't like hard chairs at all. I've done been through so many chairs it's crazy! The active ingrediant in the hand sanitizer that is the only thing that is removing the sticky from things and removing sharpie markings off things.... is rubbing alcohol. You can save a lot of money by getting yourself a little spray bottle and filling it with 91% rubbing alcohol and keeping it in your craft space.... it comes in handy :)

    • @theprincipalpainter
      @theprincipalpainter  9 дней назад

    • @PinkPoodleCrafts
      @PinkPoodleCrafts 6 дней назад

      @@theprincipalpainter it may be because since the hand sanitizer uses a gel to hold the alcohol, it doesnt evaporate as quickly so if you put it on, it will stay longer and penetrate the sticky stuff longer before it evaporates. So yeah I can see how that could work better. I was assuming the stickiness was minimal on the trays but if its built up a bit, then I can see how the sanitizer would work better :) I dont use that sticky stuff when I do diamond painting... I use a gem pick up stick so Ive never had that experience. I use alcohol spray a lot to clean up all kinds of minor stickiness in crafting :)

    I use the pool noodles as a bumper on the edges of my drafting table. One for an arm rest, and one on the top with a dowel to drape longer canvasses over if I choose not to roll them on it. Another hack: At completion, to check for missing drills, flip the canvas over and put it on your light source. Any missing drills will be noticeable right away. Also, with confetti, I eyeball which colors are in a section and then use several trays at a time and just write the number or symbol on them with dry erase marker. This way they are available if you accidentally miss a drill placement. Clean with the sanitizer after you finish the section.

    Hi Carra,
    Good morning from Southern California
    Thank you for the hacks.
    As an ADHD person, I see the whole, and not the parts. I like your suggestions on everything. I am not able to use Static Guard because I am allergic and will an Asthma attack. I have been using my dining room table cover to push down my putty. Now I will use Release papers.
    As for mica, I don't think so. I am great for knocking things over. Plus, my hands are not that steady. Hey, get addicted to Vicodin and this is what happens.
    Thank you for the tip on locating symbols you missed. I just wait until I am finished, and with my light pad on I see where I have missed laying drills.

    First time you were here. For the future please consider putting in the description box links to your diamond painting supplies. For example the blue tray that you are showing in the video that has the divider grids in it and the little teeny spout on the end that looks like a chimney roof. Perhaps others also watching this video would like to know either a) what that was called or b) where can I purchase it.
    ALSO....WHERE did you get (what I am assuming is) your pre-silk screened ?? image canvas, from?
    Not a criticism. Just a suggestion. Thanks so much and it was a very enjoyable, very informative video.

    • @theprincipalpainter
      @theprincipalpainter  9 дней назад

      Great question. I don’t use washi at all. It just does not work for me. I use release papers instead. I peel back the plastic to the size of the release papers, put the release papers down in a row and pull up the release papers as I go. I know lots of people who use Washi however and love it. They put it around the outside of the painting and also use it to section off the painting in top of the plastic covering. I hope that makes sense. The most important thing to remember is to do what you are comfortable with. There is no wrong way to diamond paint!💕💕
