    I wouldn’t exactly say not to buy something just because there’s a newer version out. The last I checked, the 3 doesn’t shoot in 24p. The 2 does. But I’m mostly for filmmaking and not so much for photography.
    So for me, personally, it works for the price. But clearly not for you and maybe some other people. And that’s perfectly fine!
    Just as long as it works for someone based on their specific needs

      I wholeheartedly agree with you. There were definitely some flaws in this video but I'm learning 🤷‍♂️

    I got my SL2 for $400. It is the best of my cameras. I have a rebel G 35mm film camera and a rebel XTI DSLR that I used to learn photography. All EF lenses of course.

      I love using the SL2. It was my first camera and it's still really great. I recently bought the 80D though and it feels just like the SL2. That's now my new main shooter.

    The problem with going for the SL*3* is that it can't shoot in 24 fps like the SL2 can (or at least it couldn't brand new, unsure if there's been a firmware update). I chose the SL2 over the 3 a couple years ago for this exact reason. (Also I understand the hot shoe on the SL3 cannot support third-party accessories while the one on the SL2 can.)

    i’m being offered an sl2 for 350 dollars, i have a t7 but the mic port, flip screen and 60fps look really enticing, should i buy it?

    • @JakeBorowski15
      @JakeBorowski15  3 года назад +2

      In my opinion I'd take it. That's a really great offer at only $350. The SL2 is more of a video first camera though so it has to make sense to you. I can tell you from experience though, I can't imagine a camera without a flip screen, mic port or 60fps. So again I'd say take it.

      @@JakeBorowski15 of course i needed a video camera because the t7 is good but it’s more for photography, i bought it and so far it’s way better for me

    • @JakeBorowski15
      @JakeBorowski15  3 года назад

      Well then if you're thinking about getting the SL2 for video I definitely recommend it. I know the T7 is more of a photo first camera so there aren't as many great video features.

      I’ve been using mine fir over a year. Just bought a wireless mic which plugs straight in a worked straight away. It’s the first DSLR I’ve ever owned - can’t really fault it other than the 30 min limitation on single shoot video. Cant seem to make it record for longer without restarting but it’s not too much of a problem. $350. Bite their hand off! assuming it’s got the standard 18-55 lens included?!

  • @1twothreefour5six7
    @1twothreefour5six7 3 года назад +4

    In my area, there is an 80d for $500 and a SL2 for $400. Since you own both, do you think I should just spend the extra $100 and get the 80d?

    • @JakeBorowski15
      @JakeBorowski15  3 года назад +1

      Oh absolutely. It's definitely worth the money because the 80D is weather sealed, has more focus points, has ALL-I format for recording and just more features overall. But if something doesn't work out with the 80D the SL2 is still a great option.

      @@JakeBorowski15 Ahh, well you might be correct, I just find it a bit funny and unusual. When a newer version comes out, the old one usually drops in price right. The newer one comes with better features, so they can charge more for it than the old one

    Just for comparison y'all, the 5D mk iii (highly praised pro camera despite being like 9 years old) only has 6fps in high speed continuous (1 more than the 200d)
    Now obviously the 200d doesn't come close to the 5d mk iii in other aspects but just wanted to mention the leap in technology nowadays

    You can get this camera off Canon's very own site refurbished for cheaper than the price quoted and if memory serves me right with warranty on top. Also, sure it doesn't have the bells and whistles of a new camera but it's not supposed to, it's old.

    • @JakeBorowski15
      @JakeBorowski15  3 года назад +1

      Yeah I knew you could get refurbished models. I don't know why I didn't add that in the video. Fair point. I guess I was just looking at if you buy new because at this point if I'm not mistaken, you can still get the SL3 for cheaper than the SL2 if you buy new.
