Jay Williams was the best my two eyes seen in college, that's a bad man🔥🔥
Man 🤦🏾♂️ Jay was a BEAST at Duke
Facts. If it wasn’t for him getting injured in the motorcycle crash, he would have been a beast in the nba too
Still my favorite college guard all-time.
aselloutbitsch
@@Bobby223boucher he's a bitschquitter
Best college player since 2000
Brought chills to me... great era in the game
lmfaooo...
*As a Jay Williams fan, I remembered that game. People forget how good he was. And, I knew Prince was going to be and remain a small foward in the NBA.*
Jay Wills top 10 college hooper all times. No debating
100%…and I hate Duke. But this dude was the truth.
Lmaoooooo
I remember watchin this game live. Instant classic. Unfortunate that we never got to see what Williams could really be in the NBA.
we did see. he was absolutely awful as a rookie.
@@busydoinnothinn so you think one yr is enough to judge a player🤦🏽♂️ on top of he wasn’t “absolutely awful” or even remotely close
@@334ben10see, he didn't respond, lol
Jason Williams one of my favorite players ever.. what could have been..
explain
@@rogernguy is that a joke? Explain what? He got into a bad accident and never reached his potential.. do know who jason Williams is?
Duke's starting 5 had 5 players play in the NBA
Ikr, Boozer and Dunleavy had a long career..
@@themostrandom8424 Crazy - I never realized that - Squad
That's like the last era of college ball that I watched. Then everyone started going to the pros straight from HS or after 1 year. I was a Maryland fan. The battles vs Duke were legendary
@@dlt9784 college bball used to be my fav sport!! Every other night someone had a classic game!!
@@deondreperkins9182 💯. Living in the DC, Maryland area with the Terps in the ACC and Georgetown in the Big East. It was truly heaven. I loved it when we had a snow day during the big east tournament and I could watch the games all day. Miss all of that
Subbing all 5 players out and then not looking at any of them- I love it
Jay Will was crazy tough I heard.. You have to love guards from jersey… never knew it was a bike accident.. still a legend in his own right
Yea it messed him up bad. Had a good rookie year with the Bulls too. It was a miracle he even came back and played in the league again briefly after that
Tayshaun been making those crazy blocks since Kentucky days 😂
Derrick Rose would never play for Bulls if Jay wouldnt get on that motorcycle.
😂😂 Shutup
Thats a big stetch
It's true because they would've been a better team and had a PG in his prime.
Yea and he probably would still be mvp calibre
@@anthonyhutchins2300 it's notba stretch because the Bulls would have won more games and win the won the lottery for the number one pick for Derrick Rose they only had like a 2% chance of getting the number one pick. So the chances of them getting the number one pick and winning more games because of Jay Williams, they would have had even worse odds of getting number one pick
Jay Williams was best college player I seen. He was starting to get it in the NBA then motorcycle accident.
Foolish boy
Weird. Since isn’t that the exact same thing that happened to Bobby Hurley?
As a DIE HARD Tar Heels fan, Jason Williams is the only Duke player that actually scared me when we played against him smh
Mr Q Ceaz JJ Redick was a nightmare too, don’t front
How hard was Dick Vitale's stiffy when Duke started to come back? Dude loves a lot of programs, but he's always had a blue devil hard on :)
Really? Not even brandon ingram?
@@babeezler5229 I'm only 37 bro out of all my years of watching college basketball Trajon Langdon & Jason Williams were the only two Duke players that torched us whenever we played them
Zion, Jay will, the 2 for me
What might have been. Jay Williams was one of the best college players in the history of the game.
Message is Authentic. I concur
J will one of the best College Hoopers I ever saw !!
This was one of Duke's best squad, for sure.
This was the greatest era of college hoops during my lifetime if you ask me (27 years). Maryland, UNC, UK, UF, Michigan State, UConn... god it was so good.
And of course my Dukies, didn’t think it necessary to include us. Cause u already know.
and the rise of Gonzaga and Wisconsin just starting. After their runs in 99 and 2000 both became really good, Arizona and Kansas was so good too
Best era of basketball 2000-2010 perfect balance of defense/offense refs still called travels and diddnt bail out the offensive player on every shot.
take us back
@@melvosyt players today have stewipidafrows
Literally the worst era of basketball since the 70s.

Best College Basketball Player I've Ever Seen in my Life
Jay Williams was so good. By far the best PG Ive seen play college basketball
2:21 reminds me of when he blocked Reggie Miller layup in the playoffs. Side note j Will was a BEAST
Jay Williams was on fire 🔥
I had forgotten they played against each other lol. Crazy a lot of these dudes made it to the NBA and stayed for a minute in the league
Truly incredible the sheer amount of them on just 2 teams lol
Its crazy that Kentucky had 2 players from their starting lineup get drafted and Duke had entire starting 5 drafted. But only Tayshaun Prince out of these 7 players won a championship I think
PRINCE WAS A NBA CHAMP JUST 3 YEARS LATER LOL
@@brunowoods9812 I feel like dunleavy would have been an all star in this era 6-9 can shoot threes
If it wasn't for that motorcycle accident...
bonesmoney FACTS
Naaah he will be a BUM in NBA.
@dadsa He got overhyped due to Duke. A lot of people wanted him to go before Yao Ming.
Man the breaking news tag on the bottom..John rocker, grant hill, Stuart Scott..miss these times
College basketball will never be this good again but thank god for RUclips.
holy shit dukes starting 5 is crazy
That damn motorcycle….Jay Will was a beast.
Jay will was a beast. He was the best player in college for like 2 years str8. Hate the accident ruined his nba career
Jay Williams was too good🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👀
I’ll die on a hill saying he’s the best college pg ever
This man was the greatest that ever played college bsll
This is what changed basketball forever. Duke's high screen and roll with Jay Williams. Looks a lot like Steph...
That Duke starting 5 OP
This has to be his jr year, because Battier is gone. His sophomore yr he was the best player in the country, and would have been the #1 pick. He was great his jr year, but not quite as good. Promised his mom he’d stay and get his degree, and you can’t blame him for that.
He would have went number one after his junior year too if it wasn’t for a 8 foot yao ming going first 😂😂
I missed these days in college basketball when u actually knew players.
Definitely a what if...
Nope. He will be a BUST.
strider hiryu wtf are u talking about?
@@franklynmcgradycalderon977 butthurt jay will fan? He's a bust. With or without accident.
@@silversurfer4680 a "bust" making 100 times more money than you doing what he loves while you barely get by doing what you hate. Sucks to be you.
Refs called a foul for Duke every big play down the stretch
Jay Williams was a dawg!!!!
The summer of 2001 prior to this season (2001-2002) in the video I was in the Wilson Rec Center and Jay Williams and Dahntay Jones were working out.
I got to campus in 1993 and remained in the area until 2007. Jay & Corey Maggette (left before Jay arrived) were both as cool as BMOCs can be.
Jay was an elite baller before his injury and Jones was an elite athlete. Jones was probably 4.5-5% bodyfat back then.
That duke team is STACKED!!!
That damn motorcyle man🤦🤦🤦
Duke had 5 solid NBA prospects on one team
Easily best guard u ever seen in college.he was what derrick rose was nba in college dude was a monster
JWill is the only player to go from college to the NBA and look back at college as his glory days.
I remember this game and watch J WILL go nuts
Cliff Hawkins smoked that wide open lay up😭
2 miss three's & a open lay up. I jist got off the phone with him to remind him. I was pissed after this game.
I was in the crowd! J Dub showed out!
Great game. Miss u Dickie V. J Dub was a serious issue.. remember those Duke Maryland battles so fun to watch
I love Duke!!!
I hate what happened to this guy, I really hate it. I grew up in Kentucky so I have no love for Duke, but Williams was on his way to becoming a great player in the NBA. I was devastated when I heard about his accident.
Man Tayshaun would be elite in this era of basketball. He never really got a chance to be “the guy” on a team. It would’ve been nice to see what he could’ve became had a franchise made him the key focal point.
Jay was back in jersey too...
Duke used to have some unfair squads.. I know he’s a legend.. and 100% for good reason, but he squandered more talent than anyone, Hands down, in ncaa history
Damn dukes starting lineup was 3 guards and two forwards???? They didnt have a player over 6’9 on the court
That's a stacked Duke team
I was sleep, Jay Williams was a monster
Jay Williams would have been a hall of famer he don’t get hurt in the NBA
I'll never forget at this time I said who better than Jay!! My boy looked at me and said Jamal Crawford 😮true story
I hate Duke but Jay Williams one of of my favorite college players. He was that dude on the court..
Kentucky's starting five pics look like grown ass men 😂
Jay Williams did great this game, but his best performances was in 2001 Final Four Semis vs. Maryland at MIN's Metrodome⁉📘🏀🌆💺Duke was down by 22, came back, and won by 11..Shane Battier was the best player on 2001 Duke team, but Jay Williams was the floor general of the 2001 Duke national championship team..🤔
I'm convinced that jwill would have been THAT DUDE if he never got hurt in the league.
Forgot how good Jayson Williams was
This duke roster, 5 nba starters. definitely tough to beat .
Yeah he was that Dude Only one That kind of Slowed him Down Was Richard Jefferson.
Dickie v didn't seem to have that over the top affectation back then
Jay was special. Never forgot on a motorcycle because of him. 😔
J will was 🥶 🥶 at duke make no mistake!!
Commentators going crazy 😭
Damn near every Duke player in the starting 5 played for the Bulls
Where u at my boy stay strong
This was my era i was 15
Tayshawn was balling
great player. but that foul that put him on the line to tie it is why the rest of college basketball hates duke. complete gift of a call.
Dudes were out there looking like 35 year old men while they were only in their early 20s
Gerald Fitch was my guy 💪🏿
6:53 lmao 🤣
Man growing up I always wanted to have Dick Vitale call me a PTP’r
Damian Lillard before Damian Lillard #jaywilliams
Half this team was on the bulls😂
He was Damien lillard before lillard
Fuck that! He wishes he was Dame
It’s hard to find a comparison bc he could shoot and he could get downhill. Maybe like a young dame lillard
Am I wrong... the greatest teams in college with NBA players never really won in college or am I saying it wrong
Wow Duke's starters became NBA players
Wirh Daniel Ewing off the bench.....
I hated that Jason Williams stayed at Duke for another season... He would've been the #1 pick in 2001 and played with Jordan with the Wizards
Ayoooo jay u did hurt me but I understand now
Jay Williams was pretty much Kyrie before Kyrie but his accident happened 🤦🏾♂️
Closer to cp3, Jay was a tough defender
Damn, everyone of the Kentucky players starting five became NBA players. Stacked.
Gawd damn was CBB still the shyt in the early 00s. When did it die? I blame those Butler title games
So carlos boozer was the first one to get his shit blocked by prince trailing on the break.
Duke got away with a push off and the last foul was iffy
Dawkins tried to take over at the end and they barely got the ball to Prince at all
Ok I hope people understand this shit
But even with the injury Jay had a very pedestrian rookie season. (9ppg) He was a beast at Duke tho
Derrick Rose = Jay Willaiams
That was a young KY team that in 2003 would lose 2 games out of their first 10 and then go on a run and not lose another game until the elite 8 against Dwayne Wade and Marquette. Keith Bogans was hurt and didn't play or I think Kentucky wins the chip that year. As stacked as Duke was in this game UK still should have won, they controlled most of the game, but couldn't stop J-Will.
As good as you say Kentucky was this year you’d think they could have realized this one guy is killing us but tubby couldn’t figure out a defense to slow him down. And this Duke team was leaps and bounds better than that Kentucky team although prince was an excellent player
@@randybowen7044 I wouldn't say Duke was better than KY in 2003, KY was just as talented. And they basically was the better team through out the game. J will is what happened. KY was in control of that game.
@@Wetrockstah2116 if they were in control they would have won the game, not like he hit a shot at the buzzer. He dominated them
@@randybowen7044 yeah J will won that game. Idk about dominated them, if you watch the game kY looked like the better team, just J will they couldn't stop in the second half.
@@randybowen7044 and if you read my comment, this game was in 2001, they had Alot of guys that were young and in 2003 they clicked and was 1 of the best teams in the country. That was the year I was talking about when I said this team in 2003.
J... do some Kettlebell squats and lunges... go between and around the legs...
Then he broke bulls contract stipulations and shattered both his hips on a oversized mothercycle as a beginner rider and now years later is going in on ja Morant for a mistake.
Hmm before they allowed that james harden so called step back...guys had to really get open. Now all the kids practice that travel two step. It will revert back to being called, be ready
