My wife: "Sure. I like college basketball."
Me to my wife after the Laettner shot: " Congratulations. You just saw one of the greatest college basketball games ever."
30 years later K won another elite 8, simply amazing. The GOAT... greatest of all time
Still, probably the greatest college basketball game that I ever watched.
Jalen Sugg's shot was not a win or lose situation, the game was tied. Therefore, Laettner's shot is much better because the game was on the line. The difficulty factor was much greater also. Had to accurately throw it, catch it, make the shot. There is no comparison, Laettner for the win!
Suggs'.
Exactly. I watched both games (Duke/UK ‘92, & Zags/UCLA ‘21) live, and nothing has that magical feeling/utter euphoria like Duke/UK. Still the greatest game ever. Period
Laettner did not throw it to himself. But aside from that yeah
@@SleepBomber I was talking about the play as a whole. Without a great throw there is no catch and shot.
@@terminat1 You are straight up wrong. No discussion needed.
The announcer yelling YES !, and then remaining quiet to enjoy the moment...was so perfect for the moment. Up there with some of the best sports calls ever. By saying one word, and realizing in an instant...to just let the fans enjoy the moment. You can wax poetic when the shock wears off🤯
Love him or hate him, Laettner was one of the best NCAA basketball players of all time.
3rd greatest player ever, behind Alcindor and Walton. I saw them all.
I hate him but that is true.
...and in that final timeout, coach K asked Grant could he make the pass and he said YES..then Laettner said, "if Grant makes the pass I will make the shot" and.....WOW....#clutch #confident....easily in my top five college players of all time...👍....#UKRAINE 🙏🙌
That shot, that moment.....never gets old. I mean NEVER.
EVERY TIME I VIEW THIS, I GET CHILLS, SO HAPPY STILL FOR DUKE....
After all this time it still gives me chills.
Legendary. Everything about this game was mystical and magical
Great moment in Coach K's illustrious career. Will miss you being the Duke coach
Being from North Carolina, I've seen a lot of good college basketball games. I think out of all of them this one is the best.
Best college basketball game and finish I’ve ever seen.
The best NCAA game ever. Maybe the best basketball game ever
I remember trying to mimic that last second shot for like a year in my backyard by myself.
Laetner did not miss a shot that day! 10 for 10 from the field and 10 for 10 from the line. The only thing he did bad was Personal foul when he walked over a downed Kentucky player, and stepped on his chest. It looked very intentional. Otherwise a fantastic game…the best I have ever seen. It was on my sisters 25th anniversary party and people were running into the bar to watch the game! I loved that Duke team of Laetner, Hurley, Hill, Lange, etc.
As a UK fan this was one of the toughest losses but you gotta give props to Laettner for his performance in this game and for hitting one of the greatest shots in NCAA history. What a game
Perfect game by Laettner. Goes down in the books as one of the best NCAA performances ever 👌
"Why was Laettner on the dream team?"
This is why. 10/10 FG, 10/10 FT. Back to back NCAA champions.
Still should've been Shaq.
He was so overmatched on that team I almost feel bad for him. The legends on that team abused him in practice
The great thing about this game is Kentucky did not lose it. Duke won it. Both teams were clutch right down to the final shot. Greatest college basketball game I have ever seen.
Lady with the neck brace didn’t want to be hugged 😂
Mustang 760 Lechner’s mom
Drew Hendley
Laettner’s mom, too😋
She lowkey kinda bad for an older lady
That was Laettner's mother
The Wood 🏀 shot to put Kentucky ahead: Amazing. The Best college PG ever, Bobby Hurley: Clutch. The great Grant Hill 🏀. The Dream Teamer. CL smooth. Two coaching legends.
To this day Pitino will not admit it was a mistake not to cover grant hill throwing the ball in.
How bout that shot before the shot at 0:32 seconds left????
I never liked Lattener!
But the guy was pure clutch durring his Duke days!
Getting to experiencing a championship celebration with your team in a pile like this is one of the greatest feelings in the world.
As a Duke fan, I was so happy with that win but even in the moment I was sad the game ended because it was one of the best match ups ever in college basketball. Both teams were so good and it was back and forth the whole way. I felt sorry for the KY players because they played a great game and truly deserved to win as much as Duke did. That may have been the Elite 8 but those were the two best teams in the tournament, it was the real national championship game because the winner of that game would go on to win it all.
The Shot! 31yrs later and still incredible.
Watching that gives me chills every time. I remember that like it was yesterday. Huge Duke fan Laettner was clutch
Still the goat of buzzer beaters in March madness
After watching Gonzaga and UCLA a week ago, I recall this game as well.
Proud of both UCLA and Gonzaga!
I consider this the greatest basketball game ever played.
Latner was the most clutch college basketball player I had ever seen.
Awesome style of play back then. Different era, so fun to watch.
And, notice you didn’t hear the officials incessantly blowing their whistles, trying to stop the celebration, so they can go to the monitors to confirm the shot on replay?!?
